Chapter 359 Making a Choice
He glanced up at the clock on the door; the hour was drawing ever closer to its end, but he had no clue what to do.
With only five minutes remaining, all the mechanisms triggered by the detectives were simultaneously deactivated, leaving them with only a limited amount of breathing room.
"Yohoo, only five minutes left! I wonder who will be able to solve the mystery and get the key to leave the room~" Bertrand clapped his hands excitedly, then turned his head and glared fiercely at the eagle Walterson, who had already woken up.
Walterson: ...I haven't done anything yet.
Bai Ma, panting heavily while leaning against a clean spot, glanced at the last minute and tentatively picked up the key on the table and inserted it into the keyhole.
One turn.
Um?
The door opened!?
Hakuba Saguru: "..."
A small tic-tac-toe mark appeared on his forehead as he clenched his fists in anger, but quickly relaxed and comforted himself.
His mindset is fixed, don't be angry, don't be angry...
But the thought of the earthworms he had been hiding in the room for almost half an hour made him grit his teeth.
Within five minutes, all the detectives except for Ran Mouri and the phantom thief came out of the room.
They looked like they were about to collapse from exhaustion, covered in sweat.
Their rooms were not in the same place, so they did not see anyone else after they came out.
After the one-hour countdown ended, that cold, mechanical voice from the bottom floor rang out again.
"Congratulations to the detectives on leaving that room. Are you satisfied with this gift? I carefully selected it; it has greatly helped you exercise your mental and physical abilities."
Everyone's lips twitched, and they were all wondering what was going on.
"Alright, everyone, please go back to the restaurant first before we discuss anything else. There are directions at your feet."
Following the directions on their feet, they returned to the restaurant and glanced around, finding everyone looking equally disheveled. Suddenly, someone felt a sense of balance.
It turns out I wasn't the only one who suffered from this painful experience.
Conan looked around and the first person he thought of was Ran Mouri, followed by Chizuru.
"Wait! Where are Xiaolan and Qianzhu!?"
His reminder made the others realize that two people were missing.
"Don't worry, they're not in any danger right now." The voice came from the mannequin head sitting behind the dining table.
Only then did they realize that the dummy's head, which had been pushed over by Harufumi Mogi, had somehow returned to its body.
"How are they now?!" Conan and Kogoro Mouri exclaimed in surprise.
The dummy said, "Didn't I tell you? They're not in any immediate danger, but whether they'll be in danger later is up to you to decide."
"What do you mean!?"
Qianzhu's words immediately caused everyone present to gasp in surprise, and the atmosphere became tense once again.
Qianzhu didn't speak again for a while because the maid who had been kindly moved to the chair woke up.
She rubbed her head, glanced at the six people, and as if the fainting had no effect on her, stood up, bowed slightly to them, took out several blank slips of paper, handed one to each of them, and then smiled and spoke to them.
"Please make your choice on the slip of paper: do you want clues to the treasure, or do you want those two boys and girls to come back? You cannot abstain."
Her words immediately put half of the people in a dilemma.
