Chapter 446 The Sparrow in the Cage Yearns for the Blue Sky

A woman wearing an apron wiped her hands as she walked out of the kitchen. As soon as she saw her, she frowned and said, "Where have you been again? Don't you know how to come back earlier? It's so late. What's wrong with your brain?"

Michiko Ishihara paused, forcing a smile. "I'm sorry, Mom. I promise I won't come home this late next time."

The woman looked her up and down a few times, finally fixing her gaze on the bag she was holding. Her tone was somewhat aggressive as she asked, "What's in the bag? Show it to me."

Michiko Ishihara immediately hugged the bag in her arms tighter and bit her lip slightly. "These are my personal belongings. I have the right not to take them out, and you have no right to rummage through my things!"

The woman stared at her, then quickly approached her and forcefully pulled her bag over. She turned around and looked through the contents, even taking out the notebook and flipping through it.

Michiko Ishihara's eyelids twitched, and she rushed over to snatch the bag and notebook back. Then, without saying a word, she ran to her room and slammed the door shut.

But she could still hear her mother's angry scolding outside the door.

Trying to ignore the sound, Michiko Ishihara glanced around her room.

As she expected, there were still signs that the room had been ransacked today.

Sitting down by the door, Michiko Ishihara buried her face in her arms.

After a long while, the scolding outside reluctantly stopped, and the sounds of pots and pans clattering together filled the air.

Michiko Ishihara looked up and took a deep breath. She wiped her slightly reddened eyes before standing up and walking to the bedside. She knelt down and took out the box hidden in a blind spot. After confirming that it had not been found or pried open, she unlocked the box.

The box contained cassette tapes of Jingmu's compositions.

Michiko Ishihara stared blankly at the cassette tapes, then silently climbed to the other side of the bed with the box, hid in the small gap, and took out the player and headphones.

Michiko Ishihara put on her headphones, put on the first song released by Joki, and curled up in a narrow corner.

The music in her ears was as gentle as a spring breeze, but she could only listen to it secretly in a dark corner each time.

After the song finished playing, Michiko Ishihara wiped away the tears that had welled up in her eyes with her sleeve, put the cassette tape back into the box, and also put in the notebook with Joki's signature.

Finally, the box was put back in its original place.

Sparrows growing in dark cages yearn for the bright blue sky.

...

Dark clouds covered the sky, turning it gray, and the wind that blew by carried a chill.

Teitan High School, Class 2-B.

After placing her schoolbag on her seat, Michiko Ishihara greeted Ran Mouri with a bright smile, "Good morning, Ran!"

"Good morning, Michiko." Ran, who was chatting with Sonoko Suzuki, greeted her with a smile.

Sonoko Suzuki glanced between the two of them, puzzled.

Seeing this, Ran Mouri smiled and explained, "We ran into each other yesterday when we went to watch a taekwondo competition."

"Taekwondo?" Sonoko Suzuki raised an eyebrow, then looked at Michiko Ishihara with surprise. "So, Ishihara-san is interested in Taekwondo? Does that mean we have two incredibly strong girls in our class?"
