Chapter 501 Standby Status

Chapter 501 Standby Status

[Today's update is so sweet.]

"That's so rude."

Bertrand glanced at him, rolled his eyes with his hands on his hips, and strode into the haunted house.

The other person paused for a moment, then turned to look at his companion. "He just said I was rude."

They looked at each other, then burst into laughter, their unrestrained laughter still audible even after Bertrand walked away.

Stroking the ball of fur in his hand, Bertrand muttered to himself as he walked forward, "It's strange how I always run into people like this, isn't it?"

He skipped and hopped out of the haunted house, humming a tune, and left the amusement park after taking the ragdoll cat back from the staff.

After putting the Ragdoll cat down in a yard, Bertrand removed the small butterfly from its head and took out several colorful butterflies from his bag as he left.

He casually released them into the air, glanced up at the moon, smiled silently, and walked alone down a road without streetlights.

The world's consciousness had a strong enough control over the main storyline. Even though Bertrand warned Tequila not to open the box, he still didn't take back the box that originally contained the trade items, and his legs were blown up.

However, he didn't die, which was lucky enough for him.

Sitting on the sofa, Bertrand looked at the square mini monitor in his hand.

The message displayed above was the message sent back by the butterflies he had just released before they were destroyed—all targets were dead.

After putting the monitor away, Bertrand stretched and looked up at Gin and Vodka as they entered through the door.

He tilted his head and asked, "Was it all right?"

Vodka shook his head.

Seeing this, Bertrand silently murmured, "Oh? Where's the agave?"

Vodka briefly explained what had happened to him.

As expected, Conan intervened.

Bertrand shrugged somewhat indifferently.

He even thought that Tequila's legs were blown up because Conan had put a transmitter on his trouser leg.

"He is currently recovering at the organization's hospital."

"Vodka said."

"Oh~" Bertrand rested his chin on his hand, thought for a moment, and then raised his hand to beckon.

Suddenly, Scotland, whose whereabouts were completely unknown, appeared.

"Su-chan, go visit Tequila for me~" Bertrand said to him with a grin.

Scotland smiled and nodded, then turned and left.

Vodka glanced at his retreating figure, quickly looked away, and silently mourned for Tequila for three seconds.

Bertrand leaned on the sofa armrest, one leg dangling off the edge, his eyes glazed over as if he were lost in thought.

Vodka sensed something was off about him, but just as he was about to speak, the other man snapped out of his daze, yawned, stood up, and casually said to them, "I'm going back to my room~".

Watching the boy hop up the steps with his legs together, Vodka couldn't help but scratch his head.

After closing the door, Bertrand hummed a tune as he took a bath. After drying his hair until it was half dry, he lay down on the bed, grabbed the blanket, and rolled himself up.

A few minutes later, his groggy voice finally came from under the covers.

"Please turn off the lights."

The little furball obediently turned off the light, then snuggled up next to him in a tiny ball.

Gradually, it fell asleep.

Oh, it's a system that doesn't sleep; that means it's entered a standby state that simulates human sleep.

...

Suddenly, the surroundings became chaotic.

A few seconds later, the entire space began to distort.
