Chapter 586 The Light Will Spread Here
The hallway was very dark, and the naked eye could only catch the general movement of people's figures.
Before Bertrand and the other person could turn the corner and enter the stairs, Conan was about to follow when suddenly a hand reached around from behind and covered his mouth, pulling him back a short distance.
Seemingly feeling that the distance was about right, the person stopped, released his hand from Conan's mouth, gently tapped Conan's head with his fingertips, and lowered his voice to signal him not to make a sound.
Conan's tense nerves relaxed slightly.
He looked ahead and saw a figure walk straight past.
If he had followed them, he probably would have been spotted immediately.
Sensing that the other person was also turning and stepping onto the stairs, the person behind Conan calmly said, "Let's go."
"Okay."
When they arrived on the rooftop, Behffiner had already disposed of the body.
Conan and Kawasaki Maru stood at the doorway, looking at the two sides facing each other.
Bertrand, hiding behind Behringer, peeked out and curiously observed the man in the tuxedo who had suddenly appeared there.
Bechfinger shielded the man behind him, his hood removed, his deep purple eyes fixed warily on the man opposite him.
Bei: Let's take a break after this performance. We have enough emotional energy for now.
Bai: Yay! We'll go on a trip after the show!
"Who are you? Why are you following me?" Behringer asked sternly, his eyes constantly watching the other person's movements.
The man held a gilded cane inlaid with gemstones, luxurious yet understated. He stood upright, his blood-red pupils gleaming, and his chin slightly raised, looking down at them with an air of superiority.
He looks just like a prince from a vampire legend.
"I don't need to tell you who I am; I just want to confirm one thing."
A faint, ambiguous smile curved his lips, and his gaze lingered on Bertrand, who was peeking out with his head out to observe.
Noticing his gaze, Bertrand puffed out his cheeks slightly and shrank back a little behind Behringer, only showing half of his head.
"What?" Behrfinger frowned.
The man chuckled softly, a slight smile spreading across his usually stern face. "I'm just here on orders to check on how my child, who's been away from home for so long, is doing."
As he spoke, he lifted his cane, which had fallen to the ground, and strolled leisurely toward them.
Behrfinger led Bertrand back step by step.
"Don't be nervous." The man's smile widened slightly, but he didn't seem to make this expression often, so it looked a little stiff. "Xiao is a good child, I won't hurt you."
Upon hearing this, Bertrand stopped, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked at him. He then leaned out, gave a thumbs-up, and smiled in agreement, "You're right! Xiao is a good boy too!"
Behrfinger opened his mouth, looking unsure of what to say.
The man approached them, raised his hand and stroked Bertrand's head, then smiled and said something rather strange, "I believe that because of your presence, light will fill this place."
Bertrand blinked, then his eyes widened, a look of sudden realization appearing on his cute face. He then nodded repeatedly with a grin, no longer hiding.
Behrfinger, standing next to him, wore an expression that seemed to be both puzzled and surprised.
