Chapter 633 Criminal Letters
...
At the end of December, the Metropolitan Police Department received a criminal letter.
The contents of the letter were simple and clear.
[On January 1st, I will commit a crime in Mihana Park.]
There was no exact time or detailed information, but a crime is a crime. Even if the person who sent the letter was just trying to fool the police, they still took it seriously.
They staked out Mihana Park a day in advance, keeping watch on all suspicious individuals.
On January 1st, the day the letter said a crime would be committed.
The Junior Detective Club, who had already arranged to meet at the park, saw Officer Takagi and Officer Sato in plainclothes and immediately asked them in confusion, "Officer Takagi, Officer Sato? What are you doing here?"
After thinking for a moment, Mitsuhiko exclaimed with a sudden realization, "Oh! I know, you two are on a date, right?"
His words made Takagi Wataru's cheeks turn bright red. He hurriedly waved his hands, unable to utter a coherent sentence, "N-no, that's not it..."
"You could say that, but what are you all doing here?" Compared to Takagi Wataru's awkwardness, Sato Miwako seemed much more at ease. She crouched down slightly and asked the boys.
“We had already planned to come to the park,” Ayumi said simply.
"But surely Officer Sato and Officer Takagi's presence here isn't just for a date, right?"
Kawasaki Machi straightened his hat and looked up slightly at Officer Sato.
"Ah, you figured it out as expected. We're on a dangerous mission right now, so could you please go somewhere else to have some fun?" Sato Miwako smiled at them.
"A mission? What mission?"
Sure enough, the kids immediately got excited.
I don't know what they're so excited about.
Conan stared at them with his crescent-shaped eyes.
Since two police officers are stationed here, it means they know the criminals will appear, and they don't need these kids' help at all.
"Alright, let's not interfere with the police's work. Let's go somewhere else." Ai Haibara said calmly, and she and Conan turned around to leave the park.
"Huh? But..."
The three of them glanced at the departing Kawasaki and his two companions, then at Sato and his companion waving goodbye, sighed, and followed Conan and the others.
Just as Conan stepped out of the park, he noticed a woman in a nun's habit standing across the street, seemingly observing the situation inside the park.
Conan's eyes widened slightly.
The nun turned to the side, took out her communication device, said something to the person on the other end, then put the device away and left the spot.
The presence of church members here is very likely related to the case that Officer Sato and his team are currently handling.
Conan thought for a moment, glanced at the chattering group beside him, and did not chase after them immediately.
Just then, a sudden commotion erupted in the park.
"What happened inside?" Mitsuhiko turned around and looked at the park they had just left.
"Why don't we go back and see for ourselves?"
How should I put it? Genta is pretty reckless.
"Wait a minute! Genta!"
The others quickly gave chase.
When they arrived at the crime scene, Sato and Takagi were already there, along with many police officers from various parts of the park.
The victims died rather tragically this time.
His head was almost half cut off, but what's even more horrifying is that the brain inside the victim's head was missing.
Even though the Junior Detectives had seen many murder cases, they felt that this scene was too bloody, and they immediately turned pale with fright and started screaming.
Conan and Ai Haibara, however, remained unfazed.
Kawasaki Machi lowered his head, concealing his expression.
He was scared and washed it off; he was faking it.
"What are you guys doing here?"
A familiar voice came from behind them.
Conan turned around and saw Ran Mouri, Sonoko Suzuki, and Naya Kuno, whom he hadn't seen in a long time.
Wearing a winter Lolita outfit, Kuno Naya raised an eyebrow slightly, glanced at the three children who were recalling a certain death memory because of her resemblance to someone, and couldn't help but smile. Then she teased them, "What's wrong with you guys? Why are you so scared of me? Did you do something to betray me while I was away?"
“Uh…” Mitsuhiko was the first to react and quickly shook his head, “No, how could that be? I just noticed that Nano Tsuki-nee looks a lot like someone.”
Ayumi nodded in agreement, "Yes, yes."
Since that incident, the person who is most afraid of Kurosawa is Genta. After all, he was actually stabbed, and just thinking about it makes his shoulder ache.
Kuno Nayazuki frowned slightly in confusion. "Hmm? How come you all say there's someone who looks a lot like me? But I've never seen that person before."
“Now that you mention it, it’s true. When I first met Nano Tsuki, I really thought you and Ko were twins.” Suzuki Sonoko stroked her chin thoughtfully for a moment.
"Ah, then I'm even more curious about the other person." Kuno Naya raised an eyebrow and started playing with the folding fan in her hands, opening and closing it repeatedly.
"But what's going on here? Why are so many people gathered together?"
Many police officers had not yet taken off their outer plainclothes, and they were even slightly obscuring the deceased, so it was normal that Ran Mouri and the others were unaware that a murder had occurred there.
It wasn't until they moved to a different spot that they saw the corpse, whose death was, to a large extent, gruesome.
So Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki couldn't help but exclaim, which caught the attention of Inspector Megure and the others.
So he asked them, "Xiao Lan? What are you doing here?"
"We just happened to be passing by and saw Conan and the others, so we came over to take a look, but we didn't expect..." Ran Mouri replied.
Then Sonoko Suzuki, who was standing next to her, became narcissistic and struck a pose, saying, "I know, this case must be calling me, the excellent queen of deduction!"
After saying that, he revealed a carefree smile just like Kogoro Mouri.
Conan, standing to the side, broke out in a sweat, chuckled silently, and then focused on the murder case, his gaze settling heavily on the deceased.
He quietly approached Officer Takagi, tugged at his clothes, and whispered a few words to him after he squatted down.
Officer Takagi then briefly explained the case to him, including the criminal letter they had received the day before yesterday and its contents.
