Chapter 706 The Doll That Looks Like Her Sister

Chapter 706 The Doll That Looks Like Her Sister

Inside the Porsche, a silver-haired boy was munching on snacks in the back seat, the crunching sound unusually loud in the quiet car.

Gin suppressed the urge to throw the guy out of the car along with his snacks.

"So, are we going to Akemi's house now?" Bertrand asked curiously, taking a sip of her drink to moisten her throat, then clicking her tongue in surprise, "So Akemi secretly has her own little place~"

Gin snorted coldly, opened the car window, took out a cigarette, and lit it.

Bertrand didn't mind that he didn't reply. Instead, his eyes rolled around, and then he grinned mischievously. "Koto-chan, I've called Akemi-neechan over."

Gin finally made a move. He glanced at the brat in the back through the rearview mirror and said with a sneer, "What are you trying to do now?"

After eating a potato chip, Bertrand glanced at him in the rearview mirror. "I didn't mean to do anything, I just wanted Sherry and her sister to chat."

His words made Gin frown. He stubbed out his cigarette and turned to stare at Bertrand, his voice deep, "So, you've always known about Sherry's whereabouts?"

The "always" he's referring to isn't the same "always" that started a few days ago when Bertrand said he knew where Sherry was, but has been going on ever since.

It has been like this ever since Sherry defected.

Bertrand slowed down his pace of eating potato chips. He met Gin's murderous gaze without fear, chuckled a few times, and leaned back in his chair. "Guess?"

Gin narrowed his eyes slightly, and the killing intent in his eyes dissipated considerably.

He had always known that this guy's abilities in every aspect were abnormal.

Since Sherry has never left Japan, how could he not find her? Even if Sherry is not in the country, he might still be able to find her.

There was only one reason he didn't tell him.

That's because they're overly protective of their toys.

Gin took a breath, then took out the Beretta and started playing with it in his hand.

In fact, given Gin's understanding of Bertrand, he should have thought of it long ago. However, with a bunch of things piling up and Sherry not being the core of the mission, he naturally didn't have the time to think about it.

This time, it was only because Bertrand brought it up himself, and he happened to find a clue that could lead to Sherry, that he started to think about it more.

Even though Gin had considered Bertrand's idea, he didn't intend to give up on this operation.

Bertrand is a master of cat and mouse games, but sometimes he doesn't necessarily play the role of the cat or the mouse. Instead, he becomes an observer, watching the cat and mouse chase each other in the game.

This time, they are the cats, and Shirley is the mouse.

Gin gently pulled the trigger, his dark green eyes fixed steadily ahead.

In the back seat, Bertrand changed to a different bag of snacks and continued munching away, showing no interest in what Gin was thinking.

Anyway, this cat-and-mouse game isn't over yet; he can keep playing until it's completely over.

Hehe.

It was late at night, in a room that Akemi Miyano had once rented.

Vodka searched the room thoroughly and only stopped after confirming that there was nothing related to the organization.

Gin and Petrancy sat leisurely on the sofa waiting.

Standing next to the sofa was Akemi Miyano, who was smiling.

Bertrand held a can of iced cola that was no longer cold, took a sip, and looked at her with a smile, "Mingmei-neechan, do you know what to say later?"

Upon hearing this, Akemi Miyano smiled and said, "Don't worry, Koya, I know what to do."

"Hmm~" Bertrand nodded in satisfaction, then rested his head on Gin's arm and asked with a curious look, "What do you plan to do after you find Sherry? Will you just take care of her or bring her back to the organization?"

Gin glanced at him coldly, thinking that his question was superfluous.

Bertrand chuckled and continued drinking his cola.

They waited there for a while when the phone suddenly rang.

Vodka immediately focused his attention, while Gin remained calm. Only Bertrand, who was dozing off, was startled and almost spilled his cola on Gin.

"Hello, this is Miyano. I am not home right now. Please leave your name and message after the beep."

After the voicemail stopped ringing, Akemi Miyano waited two seconds before picking up the receiver. Her voice and tone were exactly the same as before, "Hello, this is Akemi Miyano. How can I help you?"

She casually pressed the speakerphone button while answering the call.

When Ai Haibara heard that familiar voice on the other end of the phone, her pupils contracted and her hands even trembled slightly.

She was somewhat incredulous.

Sister...older sister?

"Hello? Is there something you need for calling so late?" Miyano Akemi's tone was filled with doubt, an emotion that a doll shouldn't have.

But Bertrand, standing next to him, had a smile on his face.

"Sister... Sister?" Ai Haibara couldn't help but exclaim.

Akemi Miyano seemed taken aback for a moment before hesitatingly speaking, "Shiho? What happened to you..."

"Sister, is it really you?" Everyone present could clearly hear her trembling voice.

"...It's me, Shiho. I'm so glad you're alright."

Akemi Miyano's voice trembled and choked with emotion, "Shiho, I miss you so much, but for your safety, I can't come looking for you. You must take good care of yourself."

"Sister? Are you home now? Has that madman Bertrand done anything to you? Are you safe?"

Because it was her only family member, Ai Haibara was somewhat excited after hearing Akemi Miyano's voice. She didn't even think deeply about why, after so many times before no one answered the phone, the person she longed for would answer it in the same late night.

When Bert, that madwoman, heard this, Lancy just rolled her eyes and said speechlessly, "Why bring him up instead of having a proper chat with my girlfriends?"

Akemi Miyano's eyes flashed with a hint of darkness when she heard what Ai Haibara had just said, but her tone remained gentle. "Shiho, don't worry, I'm fine. After I realized the organization's intentions, I didn't meet with Gin and the others. This room is also very well hidden, so they won't come looking for me for the time being, and they won't do anything to me."

Upon hearing this, Ai Haibara couldn't help but recall the aloof Akemi Miyano she had seen on the bridge last time, and subconsciously felt that she was just a doll that looked like her older sister.

Her sister, her real sister, is now somewhere the organization can't find her.

The deaths of Akemi Miyano and the fact that she was turned into a doll by Bertrand were too much of a blow to her, and she didn't dare to think about it or want it to be true.
