Chapter 5: Do you understand investing?
Having sorted out the whole story, Ling Ran immediately calmed down.
After Pei Yi and his group dug out the zombie crystal cores, they headed into the mall.
Although there were still five or six meters to go, the zombies could still be seen walking stiffly inside through the broken glass window.
It's worth mentioning that both human and zombie abilities can be upgraded.
Most of the zombies currently are level one zombies, which mainly rely on sound to identify humans. As long as you don't make any noise, you can walk right past a zombie without any problems.
Moreover, level one zombies are stiff and clumsy, so ordinary people don't have to worry about being bitten if they are careful.
Upon entering the mall, there were indeed many zombies inside; dozens were visible everywhere.
However, Pei Yi and his group didn't care about the zombies on the upper floors. They could see them and would deal with them slowly. They mainly wanted to go to the large supermarket on the basement floor. Unless someone from the base had come, it was generally impossible for them to empty the store.
The group looked at Gu Zijing, who closed her eyes slightly and then used her mental abilities to spread to the basement.
His psychic abilities are currently only at level two, and cannot be used for attacks; they can only be used to sense danger.
After a short while, Gu Zijing's handsome face gradually turned pale. When some sweat appeared on his forehead, he opened his eyes, his expression grave: "I can only say that there are a lot of zombies, a lot of them. I can't sense the exact number, but with our current capabilities..."
He shook his head, leaving the rest of his words unsaid.
Pei Yi had no regrets about getting this answer; in fact, they had been mentally prepared before coming here.
If there aren't many zombies, they probably won't have a chance to pick up the scraps.
Chen Le pointed to the fourth floor: "I remember there's a food street on the fourth floor, want to go up and take a look?"
"No need," Shen Nianshen said, "Most of the food on the food street doesn't keep for long. Instead of looking for something to eat, we should find some clean clothes."
"There are still quite a few zombies inside. We'll keep a low profile and look for clothes on the first floor. We still need to go to some safe and secluded places to kill zombies and collect more crystal cores to improve our abilities. Otherwise, we'll have to give up on places with supplies next time."
No one objected to Pei Yi's words, so the group remained very quiet, walking as far away from the zombies as possible without making a sound.
If you see suitable clothes, let your spatial ability's deep concentration sink into the space.
About half an hour later, after finding their clothes, they quietly withdrew.
As for Ling Ran, she didn't go inside at all. Chen Le waited on the side, keeping watch outside so he could notify her if there was any danger.
Once back in the car, Ling Ran looked at Pei Yi, who was now in the driver's seat, and asked, "Are we just leaving like this?"
"There's nothing we can do, we're not strong enough." Pei Yi started the car.
"If you give me more crystal cores, maybe I can solve this problem."
Chen Le, sitting in the passenger seat, turned around with a grin: "Little sister, you've got a really clever plan. If you want the crystal cores, just say so. You don't need to use this as an excuse."
“You can invest in me, my…superpower is amazing.”
"Spatial abilities, you know." Chen Le waved his hand dismissively. "Brother Shen is one too."
Ling Ran fell silent.
Pei Yi glanced at her in the rearview mirror as he drove: "If you want crystal cores, you have to contribute to the team. In the apocalypse, people without value can't survive."
Do you understand investing?
Ling Ran crossed her arms.
In the cultivation world, where the law of the jungle prevails, she was well-suited to the set of rules Pei Yi spoke of during the apocalypse.
Now she has no spiritual power at all. She has experienced this world firsthand, and the spiritual power here is terrifyingly low. Rather than trying to cultivate, it would be faster to absorb crystal cores.
Pei Yi steered the wheel with one hand, while pulling a few crystal cores from his pocket with the other and tossing them behind him. Ling Ran caught them precisely: "What's this?"
