Chapter 12 Words Become Law
Ling Ran sat on a single sofa, her eyes lighting up as she smelled the self-heating hot pot in her hand.
Back in the cultivation world, Qiao Yunshu had made hot pot for her, and it was indeed incredibly delicious. Even so, Qiao Yunshu still remarked that there were too few seasonings and it wasn't as tasty as any kind of hot pot from modern times.
Ling Ran couldn't have imagined it before, but now, smelling this scent, she believed it.
The food lived up to Ling Ran's expectations; it was spicy, flavorful, and fragrant, and even though it was mostly vegetarian, it was still delicious.
Although the ingredients were average, the seasonings were more than enough. For Ling Ran, the ingredients were secondary, since even the best ingredients here couldn't compare to those in the cultivation world, so it suited her taste perfectly.
Everyone else also enjoyed their meal.
After all, people usually can't afford to eat luxury things like self-heating hot pot; they're lucky if they can eat their fill in a day.
Ling Ran ate with great excitement, wishing she could have another bowl right away, but thinking of the spiritual energy within her body, she restrained herself.
Let's kill some zombies first, then she can eat hot pot every day.
After finishing the meal, Pei Yi frowned slightly as he looked at the remaining hot pot broth left by Ling Ran: "This is all the important oil and broth."
The implication was that Ling Ran should eat it.
What was once considered worthless as hot pot broth before the apocalypse has become a rare delicacy afterward. Even wealthy people like Pei Yi and Su Yimo ate it all up, so Ling Ran's actions were truly wasteful.
Ling Ran looked at the soup but didn't want to eat it, saying with slight disdain, "I don't want to eat it."
Pei Yi disagreed and was about to persuade Ling Ran again when he heard a soft voice from the side: "Ling Ran isn't eating, why don't I eat it for her?"
Everyone stared at Su Yimo in shock.
Su Yimo was a little embarrassed: "Well, I just think it's a waste. It's the apocalypse now, so we should cherish food even more."
"Eat whatever you want."
Su Yimo's face lit up with joy. She took the soup base from Ling Ran and immediately tilted her head back to drink it.
Oh my, you're such a rich young lady.
Ling Ran shifted her position with some disdain.
No wonder you can't beat the female lead. You can't even resist someone else's leftover hot pot broth. You're so pathetic.
Su Yimo didn't care what others thought.
After the apocalypse, she was basically starving, with no oil or fat in her stomach. She couldn't sleep because she was hungry every day, especially after using her superpowers, which depleted her energy even faster.
What's wrong with the hot pot broth that Ling Ran ate? If it weren't for the fact that zombies can't eat it, and he was really starving, even zombies... cough, he might as well starve to death.
After dinner, everyone was energized and discussed what to do next.
Everyone immediately looked at Gu Zijin.
After all, he has psychic abilities, so even things he says based on intuition are quite reliable.
Gu Zijing did not use his superpowers again. He had exhausted his superpowers for the day and was now weak all over and dizzy. It would take him a whole night to recover.
He hesitated for a moment and then said, "Let's head towards the East City first. There shouldn't be any flooding there, and going to the East City won't affect our trip to G City."
H City and G City, though not far apart, are actually in two different provinces. As for Dongcheng and H City, they both belong to Nan Province.
The Southern Province also has its own base, called the Southern Province Base. However, the Southern Province base is not safe. The Southern Province is surrounded by sea, so mutated sea creatures often come to the shore to capture humans.
As a result, not only does the Southern Province have to deal with natural disasters and zombies, but marine life is also a major headache, and safety cannot be guaranteed at all.
Therefore, apart from those who did not want to leave the Southern Province, everyone else went to seek larger places of refuge.
“Going to Dongcheng is fine,” Chen Le said first. “But how to get there is a problem. Our cars definitely can’t be driven. If we wait for the water level to go down, we don’t know how long that will take, and our supplies won’t be able to hold out then.”
Pei Yi frowned slightly: "Then let's focus on searching for kayaks these days. We still need to leave H City as soon as possible. Floods are often accompanied by various bacteria and viruses."
Xia Qianqian listened to their conversation and couldn't help but whisper, "Actually..."
Before she could finish speaking, Ling Ran spoke almost simultaneously, but her louder voice immediately drowned out hers: "Why look for a lifeboat? Just give me some crystal cores, I can get them."
Gu Zijing looked at her in surprise: "Your superpower can conjure lifeboats out of thin air?"
Although they didn't know much about the superhumans in the apocalypse, Ling Ran's words were too outrageous.
Ling Ran crossed her arms and leaned back on the sofa, her eyes indifferent: "It's none of your business. Do you want to gather some crystal cores?"
We definitely need lifeboats; they can't be trapped here.
If you lose your crystal core, you can still kill zombies; but if you lose your life, it's truly over.
The remaining nine people discussed it. There were ten of them in total. If five people squeezed into a regular-sized lifeboat, they could sit there. However, in order to have more space, they all felt that they should not squeeze in so much.
After tallying the crystal cores that everyone was willing to contribute, Pei Yi decided that each person would contribute five crystal cores in exchange for three lifeboats.
Ling Ran readily agreed to the deal.
After quickly absorbing all forty-five crystal cores, Ling Ran sat on the sofa without moving, only moving her lips slightly: "God said that there are three lifeboats in front of me."
As the nine people watched, they saw a surge of energy in the living room, and sure enough, three lifeboats appeared out of thin air.
"this……"
Xia Qianqian looked at Ling Ran in shock. If this wasn't a lifeboat placed in her spatial dimension, then what kind of superpower was this?
"Words become law!"
Xia Qian looked at the speaker and saw Chen Le excitedly squatting down next to Ling Ran: "Little sister, no, Sister Ling! I've discovered that your superpower can be perfectly described as 'words become law,' whatever you say comes to pass. So, can you conjure up the things I like to eat?"
As he spoke, he pulled out his only savings, five crystal cores: "I'd like a serving of braised pork and rice. Is that enough?"
Before the apocalypse, Chen Le didn't like braised pork at all, but after the apocalypse, he liked this fatty and greasy dish.
More importantly, he had barely eaten meat in the three months since the apocalypse and was really craving it.
The others couldn't bear to look at Chen Le's sycophantic behavior.
But deep down, there was still a tiny bit of envy.
Rice and braised pork, who wouldn't want to eat that?
Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
Ling Ran raised an eyebrow slightly, surprised that these people had so many crystal cores in their pockets. It was a pity that they were too familiar with each other, making it difficult to snatch them.
She took the crystal core, her brow relaxing: "Okay."
She didn't store the crystal cores; she absorbed them directly. Compared to Gu Zijing, who hadn't even finished absorbing a single crystal core since she started, her speed was astonishing.
“God said, ‘Before me is a bowl of hot rice and a plate of braised pork.’”
The next second, sure enough, rice and braised pork appeared on the coffee table in front of Ling Ran, and they were still steaming.
The aroma of braised pork is irresistible, with the rich fragrance of meat and seasonings blending together. The meat is clearly high-quality, with a good balance of fat and lean. When you gently pick it up with chopsticks, the meat trembles and is tender and chewy.
