Chapter 14 The Zombie: It's Immortal

Chapter 14 The Zombie: It's Immortal

The matter of prioritizing Ling Ran's protection was thus left unresolved.

Ling Ran herself didn't take it seriously.

Human nature is selfish. Although she had spent a few days with Pei Yi and his group and they seemed to get along quite well, if something really happened, Ling Ran might not necessarily save them except for Pei Yi.

Just as they thought, whether or not to save them is a matter that needs to be weighed.

Ling Ran, who emerged from the bloody battles of the cultivation world, is no saint. In fact, the cultivation world is far more cruel than the apocalypse.

Aside from the howling of zombies at night, Ling Ran got a good rest.

After a night of torrential rain, the rain did not lessen the next day.

After having breakfast, the group looked out from the second-floor window.

The water level has risen considerably, and apart from zombies walking in the rain, there isn't a single pedestrian in sight.

Seeing this, Zhuo Xu couldn't help but ask, "Do you think these zombies might drown?"

"Won't!"

Before anyone else could answer, Xia Qianqian's firm voice rang out, and everyone's eyes immediately turned to her.

Zhuo Xu hurriedly asked, "Qianqian, how do you know you can't?"

“I’ve observed this.” Xia Qianqian paused for a moment before answering, “You’ve forgotten that even if you cut off the head of these zombies, the head can still survive. Although a zombie without a body and only a head is almost harmless, you can’t ignore the fact that it’s still alive.”

Shen Nianshen looked at Xia Qianqian with some appreciation: "So you mean that as long as the zombie's head, or rather its crystal core, isn't damaged, it's still alive in a strict sense."

"Yes, because in a sense, zombies are immortal and can even continuously upgrade themselves."

Yang Ziheng, the Invisible Man, laughed heartily: "Isn't this just immortality? If the First Emperor knew that immortality was like this, he probably wouldn't be so obsessed."

"If the zombie virus can prevent our bodies from mutating and keep our minds rational..." Chen Le exclaimed, "Then we might be able to conquer interstellar space! Just thinking about it is so cool."

Fighting aliens sounds much better than fighting zombies, especially since aliens are not of our kind.

Gu Zijing has recovered today. He is sitting on the sofa in the living room. He usually only wears a white shirt, but today, because of the drop in temperature, he is wearing a thin black trench coat.

He crossed his legs, sipped the hot water in his cup, glanced at the rain outside, and said, "This rain will probably last for a week. We can't stay here that long, Ah Yi, what do you think?"

They calculated yesterday that their supplies would last just one week, but that's definitely not a very precise estimate.

"We definitely can't go out today. With this heavy rain, when will it let up?"

Gu Zijing had no choice but to use her special ability to sense the premonitions she had for the trip over the past few days, and finally said, "We can leave the day after tomorrow, but there will probably be some twists and turns."

He couldn't sense anything beyond that, since his superpower was only level two.

I've heard that level three is the watershed for superpowers. Compared to levels one and two, superpowers undergo a qualitative change. It seems I need to reach level three as soon as possible.

Pei Yi made the final decision: "Then we'll set off the day after tomorrow, no objections?"

No one had any objections.

It was raining heavily outside, so it wasn't a good time to look for supplies. Pei Yi simply took Chen Le and Shen Nianshen to the first floor to take a look.

It was too late last night. This floor is a small shop, and there are some goods hanging on the wall. They need to go and see if there's anything they can use.

Water had seeped in through the cracks in the door, and some of the shelves that had fallen to the ground were floating in the water.

The rain was still pattering outside, and the sound was even louder as it hit the sliding gate. In addition, there were the howls of zombies. The beam of a flashlight shone downstairs, and with the cold wind blowing, it was pitch black and really creepy.
