Although many soldiers did not know what kind of existence demons were, they knew that hunters like them would never mix with demons, let alone traitors of the Church.
Because of the medal, the soldiers' attitudes softened. There was no need to go around the corner. Lin Su only needed to cover his body with his cloak. When Arnold took off his hood, revealing his dazzlingly white face and brown hair, all doubts were dispelled.
"Well, there's no problem." The soldier had already determined the result when he saw the hair.
Arno put his hood back on, still trembling. As the soldiers sheathed their swords, Lin Su took out a gold coin and said, "Excuse me, can I exchange it for a badge exempting me from inspection?"
One gold coin is equivalent to one thousand copper coins, and a soldier's salary is only one silver coin per month, so this is truly unexpected wealth.
The soldier took the gold coin, handed Lin Su a badge and said, "You are very considerate."
After those people left, Lin Su handed the badge to Arnold and said, "Put this on, and you won't have to take off your hood in the future."
"Thank you very much." Arnold lowered his head and said, "You are so kind to me. I don't know how to repay you."
"Don't worry, I'll deduct the current expenses from your future wages." Lin Su said with a smile, "Get on board, I'll take you out... for dinner."
His words were very different from the ordinary people's "you're welcome", but they made Arnold's terrified heart feel a little calm: "I will do my best for you."
With Lin Su's ability, it was not difficult to find the black market. A street corner and a special corresponding code were enough for them to enter an underground shop through a secret door.
"Ten bags of fresh blood." Lin Su also put on a hood, and even his voice became hoarse like an uncle.
Arnold followed behind him, looked up in surprise, but lowered his head again.
The man behind the counter looked at the two of them, held out his hand and said, "Sign."
Lin Su pulled out a sign from his pocket. It had various scratches and markings on it. The man glanced at it and said, "Ten bags of blood, ten gold coins."
"It's so expensive!" Arnold exclaimed and quickly covered his mouth.
The person behind the counter chuckled and said, "This is for regular customers. If it were a new customer, the price would be even higher."
"Okay." Lin Su paid the gold coins.
He moved decisively, and the man behind the counter also got down from his seat decisively and said, "Wait a moment."
In just a moment, he appeared at the counter with a small box and pushed over the sign that Lin Su had handed over. However, Arnold noticed that there seemed to be ten more small scales on it than when he gave it out before.
Lin Su opened the small box. Inside were not blood bags, but twenty neatly stacked bottles filled with vibrant blood, which was swaying slightly from his movements.
"This is the quantity for ten bags," said the man.
"How long can it be preserved?" Lin Su asked.
"Thirty days." The man charged a high price, which was considered a thoughtful service.
Lin Su gestured, and Arnold picked up the box and followed, walking silently behind him. Even though his stomach was empty, he inexplicably felt at peace.
They left and stayed in a hostel, living separately. Lin Su ordered food, while Arnold sat beside him, holding the bottle and swallowed it in just a few gulps.
He stopped after drinking just one tube, then swallowed his saliva and looked at the box on the table, but closed it firmly.
