Chapter 106 Purification

"Look, they're setting off on another journey!" The village blacksmith wiped his tools, his eyes following the hero's retreating figure, his gaze filled with both admiration and worry.

"Mom, I want to go on an adventure with them too!" The little boy tugged at his mother's clothes, his eyes sparkling with longing.

"Everyone has their own battles, my child." The mother gently patted her child's head, her eyes full of tenderness and expectation. "Perhaps one day, you will also find your own light."

The heroes did not stop their journey. In the villages and towns they passed through, people talked about them, and their legends spread like wildfire.

"I heard that those young people obtained the Heart of Light, it's incredible!" In the teahouse, a merchant put down his teacup, his expression complicated.

"Yes, if only I could have such an adventure..." the farmer beside him murmured, his eyes filled with longing for the unknown world.

Meanwhile, the three heroes journeyed deep into the dense forest, where the surrounding environment became increasingly treacherous, but their eyes remained steadfast.

“Alex, this road isn’t marked on the map. Do we really have to keep going?” Leia asked softly, her eyes keenly observing the surroundings.

“My intuition tells me that this path will lead us to the next relic,” Alex replied after a moment of thought; his intuition had never been wrong.

Just then, a series of hurried footsteps approached from afar, and a messenger, his face covered in sweat, rushed up to them, panting as he handed them a sealed letter.

"Urgent message, a warning from the wise man!" the messenger said breathlessly, his voice filled with anxiety.

Eileen quickly tore open the envelope, and lines of tightly packed text came into view. After reading them, her expression turned serious: "The wise man said that an unknown force is awakening. We must speed up our efforts and at the same time be wary of internal instability."

"Internal turmoil?" Leia and Alex exchanged puzzled glances.

“No matter what, let’s find the next relic first,” Alex said firmly, and they quickened their pace, feeling a growing sense of urgency.

A few days later, they arrived at a forgotten ancient city. The tower in the center of the city emitted a faint blue light, echoing the Heart of Light, making it seem both mysterious and dangerous.

"This is it." Eileen gripped the sword hilt tightly, her gaze resolute.

Just as the three were about to enter the tower, a familiar figure emerged from the shadows—the very same mysterious person who had been observing them from the shadows.

"Finally, we're face to face." The mysterious man had a playful smile on his lips. "I am the Shadow Apostle, the guardian of the sacred relic, and also the tester."

"What is your purpose?" Alex asked calmly, while remaining secretly wary.

"Purpose? It's nothing more than wanting to see if the so-called Heart of Light can illuminate the deepest darkness." The Shadow Apostle shrugged, appearing nonchalant, yet exuding an indescribable sense of oppression.

An unprecedented showdown is about to unfold, a contest not only of strength but also a clash of beliefs and wills. The surrounding air seemed to freeze, and even the passing birds held their breath in silent observation.

"Whatever your purpose is, it will not stop us from moving forward." Leia's voice was warm and firm. She stretched out her hand, and the Heart of Light radiated a dazzling light, giving strength to her companions.

“Yes, light can always find a crack to pierce through darkness,” Eileen responded, lightly flicking the tip of her sword, ready for battle.

"Then come on, let's see if light leads the way or darkness devours everything." The Shadow Apostle flashed, transforming into countless shadows, and attacked the heroes.

The battle has begun again, more intense and dangerous than ever before. This time, they must not only fight against external enemies, but also uphold the light within their hearts and prevent the subtle undercurrents from eroding them.

Just as the battle reached its climax, an old man suddenly appeared outside the tower. He closed his eyes in deep thought, then opened them and let out a long sigh.

"No one can escape the torrent of fate. May the light guide you until final victory..."

As the old man's voice echoed through the air, the standoff between the three heroes and the Shadow Apostle within the tower reached its climax, with everything seemingly hanging by a thread...

"Look over there, it's that old man!" a young girl watching from a corner exclaimed, her voice soft but filled with disbelief. The surrounding crowd stirred, discussing the unexpected old man.

"Who is he? Why is he here at this time?" An elderly woman gently stroked her grandson's head, a hint of curiosity flashing in her eyes.

"It is said that he was once a sage of an ancient sect, who knew many secrets unknown to others." The young man beside him lowered his voice, each word carrying a mysterious weight.

As the crowd buzzed with discussion, the battle inside the tower intensified. Every strike between Alex and his companions and the Shadow Apostles shook the very fabric of space, and the clash between light and darkness left onlookers trembling with fear.

"Their power... is truly astonishing!" A passing traveler stopped in his tracks, staring in disbelief at the tower, his words filled with awe.

"Brother, will they win?" The little boy tugged at his sister's sleeve, his eyes filled with both worry and hope.

"They definitely will, because they are brave warriors who march towards the light." The girl knelt down and answered gently, her eyes shining with determination.

Inside the tower, the battle was constantly shifting. Alex cleaved through the shadows of the Shadow Apostles with a single sword strike, and the Heart of Light shone brightly on his chest, like an inextinguishable beacon illuminating the direction of the battle.

“You underestimate the power of light, Shadow Apostle.” Eileen’s words were filled with unwavering resolve, and each swing of her sword was accompanied by a burst of light, repelling the approaching darkness one by one.

Leia used her keen senses to anticipate every attack. Her words inspired her teammates and resonated throughout the surrounding air: "Light is not only about dispelling darkness, but also about the perseverance and faith in our hearts."

Just as the battle reached its climax, the old man slowly raised his hands, chanting an ancient incantation. The clouds churned in the sky, and a dazzling beam of light streaked across the horizon, shooting straight into the tower and instantly illuminating all the gloom.

"This is..." For the first time, a look of panic appeared on the face of the Shadow Apostle. His figure began to blur in the light, as if he could not withstand this sudden divine power.

"It seems today is your end." Alex gathered all his strength and unleashed his final attack. The Heart of Light transformed into unparalleled light, piercing through the Shadow Apostle's defenses and completely purifying him.

The dust settled inside the tower, and the three heroes stood panting, their eyes meeting, filled with the joy and determination of surviving a calamity.

"We did it. Light has finally triumphed over darkness." Leia smiled, tears glistening in the corners of her eyes—tears of victory, and tears of relief.

“But this battle is far from over.” Alex sheathed his sword, his tone heavy. He looked at the letter, recalling the wise man’s warning—internal turmoil.

“Next, we may face even greater challenges.” Eileen pursed her lips, her gaze seemingly piercing through the tower, looking towards the distant and unknown future.

Just then, the old man's figure faded away, leaving behind a profound statement that drifted in the wind, reaching the hearts of the three: "The real trial has only just begun..."
