Chapter 268 Aid

After the roar outside the crack gradually subsided, the scene returned to silence. While a hint of uncertainty lingered in people's eyes, there was even more determination and courage.

"Hey, you over there, are you sure they're about to start another attack?" a young soldier asked softly, trying to get some comfort from his comrade beside him.

The veteran nodded slightly, his deep eyes fixed on the sky, where the next move seemed forever unpredictable. "Perhaps," he said calmly, "but remember my words, whatever happens next, we must not lose faith."

At that moment, an unusual surge of power suddenly appeared in the air near the crack. A female mage standing in the front row frowned, then turned to the others and said, "Everyone, please prepare yourselves, something is about to break through the blockade!"

The murmurs in the crowd immediately ceased. Everyone held their breath, their eyes fixed intently on the unstable area. Sure enough, after a moment of silence, a piercing screech echoed through the sky, followed by several figures moving with lightning speed appearing before them—they were several enormous monsters, their bodies radiating an eerie green glow!

"Ah—what is this thing?!" someone shouted, their face filled with panic.

Just as panic was about to spread, Sofia bravely stepped to the front lines. "Don't be afraid, act according to the previous training," her voice calm and clear. "Maintain formation, and support each other using the skills you've learned!"

The little girl watched all this unfold without crying out of fear. "My mother always said that as long as there is light, there's no need to be afraid of the dark," she whispered to herself. Hearing this, her mother smiled proudly and hugged her daughter even tighter.

Just as everyone adjusted their stance and prepared for battle, a warm and dazzling light erupted from the Guardian of Light. "Don't let them disrupt our rhythm!" The Guardian's firm and powerful words pierced the battlefield's clamor and reached the hearts of everyone present. "We have the ability to overcome this predicament!"

Encouraged, the crowd's morale soared, and they straightened their backs, ready to fight the impending new threat.

"Wait, look there!" Suddenly someone pointed to the horizon, where a golden cloud was slowly approaching the location of the crack.

"Could it be another round of aid?" Kane looked at the strange phenomenon that was gradually appearing in the distance with disbelief in his voice.

"Whoever it is, please come and help us quickly..." a young girl prayed softly, clenching her fists as if to encourage herself.

Meanwhile, the old man who had been observing the situation closely muttered to himself, "There may be a deeper secret hidden behind this battle, and we've only just begun..."

As the mysterious force draws ever closer to the scene and more unknown enemies appear, everyone understands that the crucial moment that will truly test each person's will and teamwork has arrived... However, how will the story unfold? Everything remains to be seen.

The golden cloud in the sky drew closer, its outline becoming clearer. At the same time, the eerie green monsters launched their first attack. The sounds of clashing weapons and chanting magic erupted from the crowd; the scene changed in an instant.

A young archer, drawing his bowstring taut, shouted, "Watch out, everyone! These guys are fast!" His words barely left his lips before his arrow streaked through the air like a meteor, hurtling towards the nearest monster. With a sharp cry, the arrow pierced its shoulder with deadly accuracy. However, this only gave the monsters a brief moment of hesitation; they quickly resumed their fierce attack.

"O power of light, grant us protection!" Sophia cried out in a spell, and gentle yet incredibly powerful energy ripples emanated from her body, forming a barrier that blocked several monsters attempting to breach the defenses. "Everyone, follow my command! Mages, provide ranged support; melee fighters, hold the front lines and prevent them from approaching the innocent!"

In a corner not far away stood an elderly couple, both civilians, watching the battle unfold with awe in their eyes: "We never imagined that these heroes would step forward to protect this city..." The old woman trembled as she gripped her husband's hand tightly.

Just then, the golden ball of light finally arrived directly above the battlefield, from which a figure clad in magnificent armor slowly descended. "My goodness, who is that? It's as dazzling as if it descended from the heavens!" a young girl exclaimed in amazement.

The newcomer was a handsome man with an unusually resolute expression. After surveying the surrounding situation, he said in a deep voice, "I am Ares—the reincarnation of the legendary King of Warriors. Since such a crisis has occurred here, it is my responsibility."

"You...you mean the hero from that myth?" Kane asked, his eyes wide with surprise. "That's right." The man called Ares nodded. "Although times have changed and many things have become legends, the soul that once promised to forever defend the peace of this world has not changed its mission."

Everyone was excited upon hearing this, especially the soldiers fighting on the front lines, who felt an immense surge of strength. "Wow~ With such a powerful figure helping us, we're sure to defeat the enemy, right?" a little boy asked his older sister excitedly. She simply hugged her brother tightly and nodded slightly: "Yes, we'll definitely get through this safely..."

Suddenly, the entire arena was enveloped in an even more intense light—Ares had unleashed his full power, and a golden greatsword appeared in his hand. "Everyone, follow me and fight!" With his rallying cry, the people's morale soared, and they united as one to confront the common threat.

Just as the two sides were locked in fierce combat, the crack, which had been quiet for a long time, began to vibrate irregularly again. "Look over there, something seems wrong!" someone noticed the anomaly and shouted.

"Could it be that another new monster is about to charge in?" a merchant-looking man guessed in a panic. Sophia quickly turned to look in that direction, her brow furrowed. "No, this aura... is far more terrifying than any of the enemies we've encountered before..."

Just as everyone was lost in confusion and anxiety, Ares stepped forward. "No matter what arduous journey awaits us, as long as we hold onto our beliefs, we will not easily give in!" he said, his eyes blazing and his tone filled with confidence. "Now let's prepare for the next challenge! Whatever the outcome, let's at least do our best to have a clear conscience!"

As the final declaration concluded, the aura surging within that unknown territory intensified... However, everyone could only hold their breath and wait to see what would happen next.
