Chapter 297 Smoke of War

Under the sunlight, the smoke of battle gradually spread across the battlefield. Enemy bugle calls echoed in the air, and the soldiers' armor gleamed coldly, as if the entire world had been drawn into the impending great war. Max gripped his longsword tightly, his heart filled with determination and strength.

Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed from the valley, followed by the swift appearance of a group of knights on the horizon. Leading them was a valiant female warrior, clad in magnificent armor and wielding a gleaming spear. Her arrival thrilled everyone on the city walls.

"Don't panic, everyone! This is our village's reinforcements!" Harold shouted, his voice echoing across the battlefield and inspiring everyone.

The villagers all showed expressions of surprise and began to discuss it animatedly.

"This is so timely!" an old woman exclaimed excitedly, clasping her hands together. "Thank you, Gods!"

"Where did these heroes come from?" A young villager stared wide-eyed at the knights in disbelief.

“My God, he’s just like a legendary hero!” another young man exclaimed.

The female warrior rode her horse to the city gate, reined in, and her gaze swept over every corner of the city wall before finally settling on Max. They exchanged a knowing look, and the female warrior nodded.

“I am Arya, and I have been ordered to come and support you,” she said calmly. “The enemy is in disarray, and we must seize this opportunity to launch a counterattack.”

“Thank you, Miss Arya,” Max replied gratefully. “Please come with me, we will make operational arrangements immediately.”

They quickly discussed specific tactics, deciding that Max would lead a portion of the soldiers to hold the city walls, while Arya would lead the knights to launch a surprise attack from the flank. Meanwhile, the villagers stood ready at their posts, preparing for the impending battle.

Just as the battle was about to begin, a young soldier rushed over to report: "Captain, there seems to be a new situation behind enemy lines!"

"What's going on?" Max raised an eyebrow, his expression turning serious.

"A group of unidentified people are quietly approaching their camp, seemingly trying to create chaos," the young soldier said nervously.

Max and Arya exchanged a glance, a glimmer of hope in their eyes. "It seems someone is helping us in secret," Max said softly. "We must act quickly."

Arya nodded, then turned to the cavalry and shouted, "Everyone, get ready and attack at any time!"

On the battlefield, the enemy had begun to adjust their formation, attempting to stabilize the situation. However, at that moment, another wave of bugle calls sounded from afar. Everyone looked in that direction and saw a large group of infantry charging onto the battlefield to the sound of the bugles. Their banners were bright, clearly indicating that they were new reinforcements.

"Where did this friend come from?" a villager asked in surprise, his face beaming with joy.

“They look like militia from a nearby town,” a somewhat knowledgeable businessman replied, his eyes filled with gratitude.

Arya and Max made a quick decision. "Attack immediately!" Max ordered firmly.

"Yes, sir!" the crowd responded in unison, their morale instantly reaching its peak.

Archers below the city walls drew their bows and released their arrows, each arrow swiftly slicing through the air like a swallow, hurtling towards the enemy. Meanwhile, on the other side, Arya led her vanguard, charging out like a tiger, aiming straight for the enemy's heart. The two forces combined, tearing apart the enemy's defenses in an instant.

The enemy was thrown into chaos, and many soldiers began to scatter and flee. At this moment, the mysterious ally reappeared, appearing in a corner of the battlefield with several members of the school guard, and exchanged a few words in hushed tones.

"Are you sure this is okay?" one of them asked, sounding slightly worried.

"Don't worry, as long as the plan is meticulous, we will definitely succeed," the mysterious young man replied with a confident smile.

They quietly departed, leaving behind a crowd filled with doubt and an increasingly fierce confrontation...

The battle had entered its most intense phase. At this moment, an elderly villager, leaning on a cane, stood in the crowd, gazing at the battlefield not far away, deeply moved:

"This was truly an unforgettable battle... I wonder when this war will end?"

The young man next to him patted the old man on the shoulder and said with a smile, "No matter the outcome, everything we do today will be remembered by future generations. We are fighting for our homeland, and for our future."

Amidst this atmosphere of suspense and uncertainty, an even greater storm is about to sweep in...

Under the sunlight, the flames of war raged. As the battle intensified, the villagers' emotions fluctuated wildly. In the distance, chaos erupted in the enemy camp, clearly disrupted by a mysterious force. Amidst this tense and fierce atmosphere, every villager's eyes were filled with a mixture of anticipation and unease.

"It's incredible that someone would step in to help us at this time," a little boy standing in the crowd said, looking up at his older brother beside him, his eyes shining with hope for the future.

“Yes,” the older brother gently stroked his younger brother’s head, his tone firm, “but whoever is helping us in the shadows, as long as we can get through this crisis, that’s all that matters.”

In the center of the battlefield, Arya wielded her spear like a dazzling light, weaving through the enemy ranks. Each strike of her spear was accompanied by a scream of agony, and her bravery drew cheers from all around. "She's amazing!" exclaimed a new recruit who had only recently joined the team, his eyes glued to Arya's figure. "She's like a legendary Valkyrie!"

Meanwhile, Max, who was directing the overall situation from the city wall, was not idle either. He keenly sensed the changes in the battlefield situation and quickly made adjustments. "Attention everyone, concentrate fire on the gap on the left flank!" As soon as he finished speaking, countless arrows rained down on the designated position, forcing the enemy to change their deployment again.

Just when everyone thought the situation was turning in their favor, something unexpected happened—several loud explosions suddenly rang out in the sky, followed by several dark figures plummeting from the heavens, landing on the battlefield and creating a thick cloud of smoke. "Damn it, the enemy seems to have another secret weapon!" a seasoned soldier shouted anxiously.

This sudden turn of events sent everyone's hearts leaping into their throats. As the smoke gradually dissipated, they were astonished to find a group of people standing there, dressed in strange clothes and wielding bizarre weapons. "What kind of monsters are these? We've never seen anything like them before," the village blacksmith exclaimed, his eyes wide with terror.

Max realized that if they didn't respond quickly, the losses could be even greater. "All archers, prepare fire arrows! We must burn any flammable materials on the enemy." As he gave the order, he himself began his charge against the unidentified enemies.

Meanwhile, on a hidden path on the other side of the village, the mysterious young man mentioned earlier was quietly observing everything. "The plan is going very smoothly," he muttered to himself, "but the real test is just beginning."

As more and more reinforcements arrived and joined the fight against the enemy, the initially slightly disadvantageous situation was gradually turning around. The air was filled with the smell of sweat and dust, and everyone was doing their utmost to protect this land. "No matter what, please protect my homeland," an elderly mother prayed silently.

At this critical moment, the sound of rapid hoofbeats suddenly came from afar, and several more groups of people rushed towards the battlefield. This time, it was a force that no one could have predicted had joined the fray.

"Who are these people?" a villager asked his companion, pointing to the approaching crowd. "Could there be other unknown forces involved?"

At that moment, Max and Arya also stopped what they were doing and looked in that direction—

“They are…” Max was about to say something, but suddenly stopped, his expression becoming extremely complicated.

“How could this be…” Arya also showed a surprised expression. She gripped the spear in her hand tightly, her body trembling slightly.

What do the shock and questions in the hearts of these two heroes mean at this moment? Will the newcomer become the key turning point in this battle? Everything remains a mystery...
