Chapter 96 Hide and Seek

“Our next destination is the ‘Forgotten Forest,’ a place where even time is said to get lost.” Leia said as she unfolded a new sea chart, which marked an unknown area shrouded in thick fog, giving off a mysterious yet slightly fearful feeling.

"The Forest of Oblivion? That legendary place that hides the secrets of an ancient civilization? It sounds like a new adventure." A glint of eager anticipation flashed in the Lightbringer's eyes; he was always filled with endless curiosity and longing for the unknown.

After several days of sailing, their ship emerged from the mist, revealing a dense and ancient forest. Towering trees and entwined vines made it seem as if every step took them into another time and space. Contrary to rumors, the place was not desolate. Instead, strange bird calls and the melodies of some ancient instrument could be heard from time to time, melodious and mysterious.

"Welcome to the Forest of Oblivion, traveler." Suddenly, an old man with a weathered face but bright eyes, wearing a robe woven from green leaves, appeared before them. His appearance was without warning, as if he had walked out of the forest itself.

The island's inhabitants were equally surprised and curious about the arrival of the Lightbringers and Leia, but even more so, they felt awe. A young woman whispered to her companion, "They are lightbringers from afar, capable of bringing light to the darkest places. I wonder if they can also illuminate the forgotten corners of our hearts."

In the Forest of Oblivion, the Lightbringer and Leia encountered a thorny problem—the 'Lake of Time' at the heart of the forest had lost its light, disrupting the ecological balance of the entire forest. The lake water was no longer crystal clear, and the surrounding vegetation began to wither, losing its former vitality.

"The Lake of Time is the source of our memories. Once it loses its light, our history and heritage will gradually disappear," the old man explained sadly. The surrounding residents nodded in agreement, their eyes filled with worry.

Leia comforted her, "Don't worry, since the light can illuminate the City of Shadows and awaken Wind Whisper Island, it will surely find the way to the depths of the Lake of Time."

In the days that followed, they ventured deep into the forest, working alongside the inhabitants to gradually uncover the secrets of the Lake of Time through the power of light. It turned out that an ancient gem of light was sealed at the bottom of the lake, but for some reason it had lost its energy, causing the lake water to darken. The messengers of light activated the gem with their own power, and when the first ray of light rose again from the center of the lake, the entire forest seemed to regain its vitality. Ancient trees sprouted new green leaves, birds sang, and flowers bloomed—a scene brimming with life.

At the moment of parting, the residents of the Forgotten Forest gathered by the lake. An elder held the hand of the Messenger of Light and said with emotion, "You have not only restored the light of the lake, but more importantly, you have awakened our memories of the past and our hope for the future."

The messenger of light gazed upon the revitalized forest and smiled in response: "Remember, light does not only exist in the external world; it should also grow in the heart of every person. Wherever you go, never forget the light within your heart."

As the ship set sail again and disappeared into the distance, a young child ran up and shouted to the receding sails, "Farewell, travelers of light! One day, I will be like you, a spreader of light!"

Leia stood by the ship's railing, gazing into the children's determined eyes, and whispered to the Messenger of Light, "Look, they have begun to weave their own story of light. Isn't that the meaning of travel?"

The Messenger of Light nodded, his eyes gleaming with gentle light: "Yes, every heart that is lit up is the most beautiful scenery on our journey. There are still many unknowns waiting for us in the future, but as long as there is light in our hearts, nothing is impossible."

“You’re right, Leia. However, it seems there’s a little incident waiting for us before we head to our next destination.” The Lightbringer pointed to the sea not far away, where a seemingly ordinary message in a bottle was slowly approaching their ship with the waves.

“Oh? This is really interesting. Let’s see what secrets are hidden inside.” Leia said as she carefully opened the bottle and took out a yellowed parchment scroll.

On the parchment scroll, a message is recorded in an ancient script: "Seekers of justice and light, the shackles of the dark abyss have loosened, and the ancient curse is about to awaken. Only by gathering the three lost relics can the end of the world be stopped. Clues are hidden in the Valley of the Wind, the Land of Shadows, and the Shore of Souls. Brave travelers, fight for the light of the world."

"It seems that fate has assigned us a new task," the Lightbringer said after a moment of contemplation, his eyes gleaming with determination.

Just then, a fisherman who happened to be passing by overheard their conversation and stopped in his tracks, his face filled with shock: "Sirs, are you telling the truth? Is that doomsday prophecy that only exists in ancient songs really going to happen?"

The messenger of light smiled gently and gave the fisherman a reassuring reply: "Do not be afraid. As long as there is light, hope will never be extinguished. We will do our utmost to protect this world from being swallowed by darkness."

The fisherman's eyes shifted from initial fear to reverence: "May the light guide your path, traveler. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know."

“Thank you, kind friend. Now, the most important thing is to find those three lost artifacts,” Leia said as she put away the parchment scroll.

In the following days, news spread like wildfire that the Lightbringer and Leia would embark on a journey to find the sacred artifact, and the towns and ports along the way were filled with discussion and speculation.

"They're amazing! Not only did they save the Forest of Oblivion, but they're also going to fight that ancient curse!" The town's blacksmith said to his companion as he swung his hammer. "If only I could be like them."

"Yes, I heard that too. They seem to be looking for some lost artifact." Several women selecting fabric at a nearby tailor shop discussed in hushed tones. "I hope they succeed, after all, it concerns everyone's safety."

At the entrance to a valley called the Valley of the Wind, the Lightbringer and Leia encountered an elderly sage who held a staff that emitted a faint light.

“I foresaw that brave travelers would set foot here,” the wise man said with a smile. “I am the guardian of the Valley of the Wind, responsible for the safekeeping of the first sacred artifact—the Wings of the Wind. But to obtain it, you must pass the test of nature.”

Faced with the challenge, the Messenger of Light accepted without hesitation: "Please guide us. No matter what difficulties lie ahead, we will overcome them one by one."

After a fierce battle against gales, torrential rain, and sandstorms, the Lightbringer and Leia successfully obtained the Wings of Wind. At that moment, everything in the valley seemed to be cheering for their victory.

"You have proven your courage and wisdom, and the Wings of Wind have recognized you." The Guardian handed the Wings of Wind to the Lightbringer and said earnestly, "However, the road ahead is even more treacherous. Remember to keep the purity and light in your hearts."

Amidst the farewells of the Valley of the Wind's inhabitants, the two continued their journey. On the ship, Leia gazed at the distant horizon and said to the Lightbringer, "Just when we think we've reached the edge of light, new challenges always await us."

The Messenger of Light nodded gently, his gaze profound: "Indeed, Leia. The journey of light has no end. And the next stop, the Land of Shadows... there, perhaps, lies an even deeper secret and trial."
