Chapter 145 Distant

“That’s right,” Hope said, her gaze piercing the distant horizon, where the unknown and challenges lay hidden, “and on that day, we will make this world different because of us.”

"Hey, have you heard? Those adventurers have done it again! The villages to the east are all praising them!" In the town's tavern, two travelers were enjoying their ale while discussing Hope's group's heroic deeds.

“Yes, it’s said that even monsters as hard as iron are no match for them. It’s like a myth come to life!” Another traveler put down his wine glass, his eyes full of longing. “If only I could have that power, even if it’s just a fraction of it.”

Upon hearing this, the old man at the next table chuckled and said, "Young man, strength is certainly important, but what's even more important is their belief and the trust between them. That's their most powerful weapon."

As night deepened, Hope and his group found a quiet campsite to rest. The campfire illuminated their tired yet determined faces. Jack returned with firewood and tossed a few pieces into the fire, sparks flying and intensifying the chirping of insects nearby.

“Sometimes I think,” Sam said thoughtfully, fiddling with his mechanical device, “that everyone’s fate is already written, and we are just following the script.”

Amy gently shook her head. "No, Sam. We write our own destiny. Every choice, every action, adds a new chapter to our lives."

Leah closed her eyes to rest, a smile playing on her lips. "I believe that as long as we remain kind and courageous, no matter what fate has in store for us, it will ultimately lead to the light."

Hope gazed at the fire, the flames dancing in his eyes like a harbinger of the future. "Indeed, the road ahead may be fraught with thorns, but as long as we support each other, there is no difficulty we cannot overcome. Besides, aren't there people watching us in the shadows?"

As they talked, a faint sound came from the woods outside the camp, as if something was approaching. Everyone became alert, and Hope was the first to stand up and silently walk towards the source of the sound, with the others following closely behind.

Under the moonlight, a strange messenger creature stood quietly at the edge of the forest. It had the body of a deer, the wings of an eagle, and intelligent eyes, and held a crystal ball that emitted a faint glow in its mouth.

“This is…” Leah said in surprise, sensing the ancient magic contained within the crystal ball.

The messenger nodded slightly, placed the crystal ball on the ground, and then disappeared into the night sky as a beam of light, leaving Hope and the others looking at each other in bewilderment.

Hope carefully picked up the crystal ball, and a gentle power flowed into his body. Countless images seemed to flash before his eyes, including glorious victories and unknown challenges.

“It seems our journey is more complicated than we imagined.” He took a deep breath and turned to look at his companions. “But since we’ve chosen this path, let’s face it together.”

"Yes, let's face it together!" the four said in unison, their voices echoing in the quiet night sky, conveying their unwavering determination.

The following morning, as Hope and her group embarked on their journey again, the townspeople stopped to watch them go. The children imitated their actions, their eyes sparkling with dreams.

“They will become legends, just like the heroes in Grandpa’s stories,” a child said earnestly to his playmate.

“Yes, I hope that one day we can also become a light for others.” Another child echoed, their two little hands clasped tightly together, as if at that moment they too possessed the power to change the world.

Hope and his friends were unaware that they had become legends in the eyes of others. They only knew that the road ahead was long, and many more difficulties and challenges awaited them. But as Leah said, as long as their hearts were united, they could illuminate each other and warm the world.

As the sun slowly rose, Hope and his group's shadows stretched long in the golden dawn light. Their steps were firm and powerful, as if each foot trod on the earth of hope. On the edge of town, an old blacksmith stopped his work, watched their backs, and murmured to himself, "Such young people, how enviable. Courage and dreams, this is youth."

Hope turned around, feeling the gaze on her back, and smiled slightly at the blacksmith, a smile filled with gratitude and determination. The blacksmith paused for a moment, then burst into laughter: "Go, children! Ignite this world with your passion!"

Hope and his group continued their journey, and soon they arrived at a dense forest. The trees here towered into the clouds, and the sunlight could only dapple the ground, adding to the tranquility and mystery of this enigmatic land.

"This is the legendary Shadow Forest, said to hold ancient secrets and undiscovered treasures," Amy said softly, her eyes sparkling with a desire to explore.

"Treasure? What are we waiting for!" Jack rubbed his hands together, his face full of excitement.

Sam took out a map from his backpack and studied it carefully: "According to this old map, we should be able to find a safe path through the forest, but be careful, there are many dangerous areas marked on the map."

Just as they were about to step into the forest, a hurried traveler suddenly appeared from the forest path, looking somewhat panicked. "You, you're going to the Shadow Forest?" the traveler asked breathlessly.

"Yes, is there a problem?" Hope replied politely.

The traveler swallowed hard, looked around, and lowered his voice: "Things haven't been peaceful there lately. Someone saw a huge shadow beast that devoured an entire group of explorers. I advise you to take a detour."

"Shadow Beasts?" Hope frowned, looking at his companions. "We can't let fear dictate our direction. If there's real danger, then it's our responsibility to resolve it and protect the innocent."

Upon hearing this, the traveler's eyes flashed with admiration: "You...you are truly brave. But please be careful, and may the gods bless you."

With the travelers' blessings, Hope and her companions stepped into the Shadow Forest. As time passed, the atmosphere in the forest grew increasingly oppressive, and the sounds of birdsong gradually faded away.

Suddenly, a sharp gust of wind broke the silence, and a huge shadow beast emerged from the shadows of the trees, opening its blood-red maw and lunging at the unsuspecting group.

"Everyone scatter!" Hope shouted, as he gathered light in his hand and shot an arrow of light straight at the Shadow Beast's throat.

The battle erupted instantly, and everyone displayed their unique skills: Jack wielded his greatsword, severing the shadow beast's tentacles; Amy used her agility to constantly harass it; Sam controlled his mechanical device, providing precise fire support; and Leah used healing magic to protect everyone's safety.

The battle was intense but brief. In the end, with everyone working together, the Shadow Beast collapsed to the ground and turned into a wisp of black smoke, dissipating into the air.

"We did it!" Jack shouted excitedly, and the others smiled with relief.

Just as they were taking a short rest and organizing their equipment, a faint voice came from the spot where the shadow beast had disappeared: "Thank you, brave travelers."

The crowd turned to look at the voice and saw a beautifully dressed, smiling elven girl appear before them. "I am Elena, the guardian of the forest. You have not only saved the forest but also prevented a catastrophe. In return, I will guide you to the true treasure."

Elena's words, tinged with mystery and promise, filled everyone with anticipation and excitement.

"The real treasure... is everything we've been through together, and the adventures that are about to unfold." Hope smiled at her companion, her eyes sparkling with longing for the unknown.

“That’s right, we’ll face it together, until the end of the world.” Sam, Amy, and Leah nodded in agreement, their smiles shining brightly in the sunlight.

Unseen by them, the crystal ball, once delivered by the messenger creature, swayed gently in Hope's backpack, emitting a softer and deeper light, as if foreshadowing an even more exciting and incredible journey awaiting them.

"So, what's next?" Leah asked softly, her tone a mix of curiosity and anticipation.

Hope smiled, looking up at the vast sky: "Only by keeping moving forward can we find the answer. Get ready, friends, a new adventure is about to begin!"

The conversation ended in laughter, and they embarked on their journey once more. Their story quietly spread across the continent, inspiring every heart that harbors a dream.
