Chapter 130 Sacrifice

"Yes, Grandpa, I believe they will lead us to the light." The child clenched his little fist, his tender voice filled with determination.

In the distance, a group of four walked along a dark path, the night shrouding their journey in mystery. Alex led the way, his sword flashing like a beacon guiding the light; Leah followed closely behind, her black cloak concealing a deep love and responsibility for the world; the sorcerer surveyed his surroundings with sharp eyes, ready to face any potential threat; and the young Night's Watchman, though somewhat nervous, showed no sign of diminished courage and determination in his eyes.

"Alex, what exactly is the power of the Wheel of Fate you mentioned earlier?" After a moment of silence, the Night Watchman finally couldn't help but ask the question that had been bothering him.

Alex stopped and glanced back at the Night's Watch, his tone calm yet tinged with heaviness: "The Wheel of Fortune contains the powerful force that guides the world toward different futures. It not only grants people unparalleled abilities, but more importantly, it can reveal and influence the choices and destinies of every life. But this power is not easily obtained; it requires the user to possess an unwavering will and a pure heart."

Leah continued, "Moreover, the choices made by the Wheel of Fortune are often accompanied by trials. What we face is not only external threats, but also challenges to our self-awareness and beliefs. This journey is a baptism of the soul for each of us."

Their conversation caught the attention of a passing merchant, who stopped and looked on with curiosity and astonishment: "The Wheel of Fortune? That's no ordinary topic. You brave souls actually believe in its existence and embark on a journey to find it? It's both astonishing and enviable."

The magician chuckled softly, a hint of untamed spirit in his voice: "Traveler, there are too many inexplicable phenomena in this world, and the Wheel of Fortune is one of them. We believe in it because we have already witnessed the dawn of miracles. In your world, perhaps there is also your own 'Wheel of Fortune,' waiting for you to find it."

The traveling merchant nodded thoughtfully, watching their departing figures, and murmured to himself, "A miracle... perhaps I should also go and search for my own miracle."

As their journey deepened, they encountered a series of unexpected challenges. Ancient ruins concealed unknown dangers: eerie traps, ferocious beastmen, and souls corrupted by dark forces—every step tested their wisdom and courage. But each crisis was resolved through their intelligence and unity, and all of this was witnessed by fellow travelers they encountered, becoming legendary tales passed down through generations.

After a fierce battle against dark creatures, an old hunter wiped the sweat from his brow, looked at Alex and the others' tired but resolute figures, and sighed with emotion: "Such power, such faith... I really hope our children can be like you, bravely facing difficulties and fighting for a better world."

Leah gently patted the old hunter's shoulder, her smile tinged with tenderness: "Everyone has the ability to shine in their own place, like the brightest star in the night sky. As long as there is hope in your heart, the darkness will eventually be dispelled."

Just when everyone thought their journey was about to end, the wheel of fate led them in an unexpected direction—to a mysterious city said to hold ancient wisdom and immense power. At the city's entrance, a mysterious guardian silently awaited their arrival.

"Welcome, travelers. Your courage and perseverance have impressed me. But entering this city means you will face the most difficult choices. Are you ready?" The guardian's tone was full of a sense of trial.

Alex, Leah, the sorcerer, and the Night Watchman exchanged smiles; no words were needed, their eyes conveyed the answer.

“We are ready. For this world, there is nothing we cannot face.” Alex’s words had barely faded when the four of them stepped forward, entering the city filled with the unknown. Behind them, pairs of eyes, filled with admiration and blessings, watched them walk into the depths of the unknown…

"What challenges await them next?" A child in the crowd held his father's hand, his eyes sparkling with boundless imagination.

"Children, this is their story, and it is also our hope. No matter what the future holds, as long as there is light in our hearts, hope will never be extinguished." The father's gentle words, like the warmest starlight in the night sky, illuminated the unknown road ahead.

"Dad, can they find the power to change the world?" the child asked, his eyes brimming with curiosity.

The father smiled, bent down and patted his child's head. "If anyone could do it, it would be them. Remember, behind every hero are countless challenges and tireless efforts."

Meanwhile, in a teahouse in the city, the voices of several travelers rose and fell, their conversation filled with amazement at Alex and his party.

"Have you heard? Those four heroes are heading to the heart of a mysterious city, where the secret to rewriting destiny is said to be hidden." A merchant lowered his voice, his eyes gleaming with gossip.

An elderly scholar beside him adjusted his glasses, shook his head, and said, "The legend of the Wheel of Fortune has existed since ancient times, but very few people have ever been able to touch its mysteries. If they could truly unravel its secrets, it would be a blessing for the entire continent."

"Hey, who cares about welfare or not, I just want to know if they can wipe out all those monsters that harass our caravan every day!" a muscular mercenary shouted, drawing laughter from those around him.

At this moment, Alex and his companions stood before a magnificent palace, where the guardian slowly spoke: "In the heart of this city lies the key to the Wheel of Fortune. But to take it, someone must sacrifice their dreams and desires in exchange."

The four looked at each other, the air seeming to freeze. Finally, the magician chuckled softly, "Sacrifice? We were prepared. However, this decision should be borne by us all."

Leah nodded in agreement, her gaze firm and warm. "No matter the outcome, our hearts will always be connected, and our strength will be even greater as a result."

The night watchman swallowed hard, his voice trembling with tension yet resolute. "I'm willing. What do my dreams matter for a brighter future?"

Alex patted everyone on the shoulder, his eyes shining with unwavering determination. "It's settled then. Together, until the very end."

They walked deeper into the palace, where the walls were etched with the marks of history, as if each mural told a story of sacrifice and dedication.

Just as they were about to touch the key to the Wheel of Fate, a loud bang shook the entire palace, and a figure slowly rose from the central courtyard. It was the forgotten guardian beast, its eyes burning with anger and challenge.

"Mortals, if you wish to touch destiny, you must first pass my test!" The guardian beast's roar sent chills down everyone's spine.

Alex drew his sword without hesitation, his eyes blazing. "Then let us prove that no force can stop us from moving forward for the sake of the world's tomorrow!"

The battle erupted once more, more intense than ever before. Those outside the city felt the awe-inspiring power through the resonance of magic, gazing up at the sky with a mixture of worry and anticipation.

The battle continued until dusk. As the last rays of the setting sun fell upon the four, the guardian beast collapsed with a thud, and the key that symbolized destiny lay quietly in Alex's hand, shining with a warm but not dazzling light.

"We did it," Leah said softly, her eyes filled with tears, but even more so with boundless hope for the future.

“Yes, but this is just the beginning.” Alex gazed into the distance, at a world full of unknowns but also brimming with infinite possibilities.

As they turned and left the palace, they were greeted not only by the cheers of the city's inhabitants, but also by even more unsolved mysteries and challenges.

"They found it! They really found it!" The children's cheers pierced through the crowd and echoed throughout the city.

On the other side of the city, an old man slowly stood up, gazing at the four people in the distance, a relieved smile playing on his lips. "Hope always blossoms when you least expect it. Their journey has only just begun..."
