Chapter 274 Dawn

As the four warriors gradually disappeared into the morning light, the townspeople remained gathered, murmuring amongst themselves, their hearts filled with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation for the future. An old man slowly walked through the crowd, his voice, though soft, was enough to draw attention: "Friends, let us not forget to pray for the safe return of these brave young men." As soon as he finished speaking, everyone nodded in agreement, and the air was instantly filled with a warm yet profound emotion.

A few hours later, just when everyone thought things would return to normal, a hurried message shattered the tranquil atmosphere. "It's terrible! The enemy is attacking!" a messenger reported, panting and sweating profusely as he ran from afar. This sudden news instantly heightened the tension in the town.

"What's going on?" a middle-aged man asked, frowning, trying to figure out the whole story.

"It's...it's a group of Blackwings! They discovered that we have an ancient artifact here and want to seize it as a tool to dominate the world." After the messenger struggled to tell the truth, he almost collapsed to the ground, clearly having just experienced a life-or-death race.

The devastating news spread throughout the town, and people began scrambling for refuge. Some families even started packing their bags to flee their homes to avoid the impending disaster. Just when everyone was almost in despair, a clear and firm voice suddenly rang out—it was the voice of a young boy: "Don't panic, everyone. I believe that Brother Istra and the others will definitely come back to protect us."

The surroundings immediately fell silent, all eyes fixed on the little boy named Max. He stood tall in the crowd, his face still bearing a trace of childishness, yet radiating an indomitable spirit. "My dad once said that in the face of difficulties, we should bravely stand up instead of running away. Only in this way can we protect our home!"

Max's father was a brave soldier who tragically died in the previous battle. Hearing his son's words, everyone present was deeply moved. Just then, another female resident chimed in, "The boy is right. We should also do everything in our power to protect this land until the heroes return!"

Encouraged by this, their previously scattered spirits were rekindled. Soon, several volunteers took up arms, ready to head to the city gates to confront the invaders. "Yes! We can't let the enemy succeed so easily!" someone shouted, joining in…

Time ticked by, and more and more ordinary people joined this makeshift detachment to defend against the enemy. Finally, as the sun was about to set, a deafening roar echoed from afar—clearly, the battle had begun.

Just as the situation was becoming increasingly unfavorable and the town's defenders were about to collapse, a blue light suddenly streaked across the sky, followed by several figures appearing on the battlefield. "We're back!" Istra exclaimed, wielding a sword that shone with dazzling light, her eyes burning with fervent passion. "Let us fight side by side and utterly crush the enemy!"

Upon seeing this, everyone who was struggling to hold the battle line was invigorated as if they had been given a new lease on life. "It really is you! That's wonderful!" Caroline and Lilia each used their skills in their respective fields to assist in the counterattack; while Sofia quickly directed and adjusted the formation of the team to ensure that everyone could participate in the battle at their maximum efficiency.

After a fierce and arduous battle, the enemy was finally driven back completely. Looking at the fleeing figures and the devastated but ultimately preserved town behind them, everyone breathed a deep sigh of relief…

However, just when everyone thought the matter seemed to be over, Sophia noticed something strange: "Wait... when that enemy general was fleeing, he was muttering something about an even more powerful force descending... Could it be?"

Hearing this, Istra's expression turned serious. "It seems the real test has only just begun. But no matter how great the difficulties we may encounter in the future, as long as we unite as one, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome."

"Well said!" Ares walked over and patted his companions on the back to encourage them. "There's still a long road ahead for us to explore!"

The story thus turns a new page, and for these brave and fearless souls, a new adventure awaits, promising even more thrilling and exciting tales to unfold...

"So what's next? What will we do?"

"We will keep going no matter what, until we find the answer," Istra said firmly.

"Yes, yes! No matter what happens, remember our determination to defend our homeland together today!" Sofia added.

"Yes, no matter the outcome, what matters is that never-give-up spirit. Tomorrow is another day," Caroline said with a soft laugh, but her eyes shone with a firm and courageous light.

As night deepened, the surroundings gradually returned to their usual tranquility, leaving only the twinkling lights to bear witness to everything that had happened that day and to the hopes for the future. As for what stories the future holds, perhaps only tomorrow will reveal the answer…

The night was deep, but the town lights remained on, and the sounds of conversation drifted softly from the windows, filling the air with an uneasy tension and a vague sense of anticipation. Max sat on a small wooden stool in his yard, staring at the short sword in his hand, the only keepsake his father had left him. Though still young, his eyes were filled with a strength beyond his years.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the courtyard gate. Max got up to open it and saw a girl named Lina standing outside. She was two years older than Max and quite popular in the village. "Hey, little one!" Lina teased with a smile, "I heard Istra and the others are back. Don't you want to go to the town square to see them?"

“Of course I want to go,” Max replied, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “And I also want to tell Brother Istra what Sofia mentioned earlier—what that escaped general said…I think it must be unusual.”

The two met at the bustling town square. A bonfire burned in the center, surrounded by countless residents whose faces held both worry and hope. They sat together exchanging information, discussing future plans, and savoring a hard-won moment of peace. Istra was explaining to the villagers the details of the battlefield they had just witnessed and how they planned to deal with any potential new threats. "We must be vigilant, strengthen our defenses, and actively seek out the legendary methods to ward off all evil forces," Istra said, his gaze resolute.

Just as he finished speaking, footsteps sounded in the distance. It turned out to be an old farmer bringing his young grandson to join the guard. "Our family is also willing to contribute," the old man said. "After all, without your courageous fight against those villains, we wouldn't be able to sit here and talk about tomorrow. So no matter the outcome, please believe that we will support you to the end."

Several women nearby chimed in, "Yes, yes! As long as we can protect our shared home from harm, we'd be happy to sacrifice anything!"

Seeing this, even Lina, who had initially appeared quite calm and rational, couldn't help but be moved: "That's wonderful! When everyone works together, there's no difficulty we can't overcome!" She turned to Max beside her, "What do you think? Are you more confident in facing all the challenges ahead?"

Max nodded vigorously, then mustered his courage and walked towards Istra. "Hey, brother, I have something to tell you..." the little boy whispered.

Hearing the summons, Istra leaned closer. "What's wrong? Did you find anything?" His tone was encouraging.

Max then recounted everything Sophia had observed. "Before the enemy left, they said something about a more powerful being about to descend... I don't know what that means, but I have a feeling it's not a good omen."

After a moment of silence, Istra patted her brother on the shoulder. “Thank you for sharing; this clue is indeed very important. We need more time and information to delve deeper and find the most appropriate solution. But for now, please remember one thing—no matter what happens, the most important thing is to stay united and trust each other.”

"Yes!" Little Max replied, his voice firm and strong.

At this moment, on this warm and courageous night, everyone's hearts seem to be tightly bound together by an invisible yet powerful bond. Even if the road ahead is unknown and fraught with hardship, having such a group of partners fighting side by side is enough to give people boundless hope.

"Alright guys, let's get started!" Ares raised his right hand to urge everyone on.

"That's right, time waits for no one," Caroline nodded in agreement.

"Hmm~ What are we waiting for? Let's set off together to greet the new sunrise~" Lilia leaped up lightly, as agile and elegant as an elf.

Meanwhile, the elderly people in a corner not far away, silently watching the busy figures of these young soldiers, exchanged meaningful smiles: "Young people, they are still so energetic and full of vitality... It seems that our place has really cultivated a lot of good seedlings."

As night gradually faded, the first rays of dawn gently pierced through the clouds, bathing the town in light and heralding the quiet beginning of a new journey...
