Chapter 79 Prophecy

"But what's next, wise sage?" a young man asked eagerly, his eyes filled with curiosity and a hint of anticipation.

The wise man surveyed his surroundings, his tone calm yet profound: "The true trial begins with self-discovery and extends to changing the world. Jack and his companions' journey is not over; an even greater challenge is quietly approaching."

"What challenge?" A murmur arose from the crowd as everyone strained to hear, afraid of missing a single word.

"Ancient prophecies say that when the relics and runes reunite, an ancient secret will be revealed—a truth that could overturn the world." The wise man's words were like a pebble thrown into a lake, creating ripples.

"Overturn the world?" The little girl's eyes widened in disbelief.

“Yes, child. This world is far more vast and complex than you and I know. Jack and his companions will not only have to protect the town, but perhaps also the weight of the entire world.” The wise man’s gaze pierced through the night, seemingly looking towards the distant future.

“Then they need more help!” a middle-aged woman said firmly, her voice full of concern and determination.

“Indeed, this is not just Jack and his group’s battle, but a battle for all of us.” The wise man nodded slightly, then changed the subject, “But first, they must understand the true meaning of that power, and how to use it without being consumed by it.”

The townspeople fell silent, each lost in deep thought. After a moment, an old hunter stepped forward, his face, etched with the marks of time, etched with unwavering resolve: "Wise one, how should we prepare? Though we cannot embark on their journey, we can secure their rear."

“A wise move.” The wise man nodded approvingly. “Improve ourselves, both physically and mentally; nurture the next generation, let them understand history, learn knowledge, and, more importantly, teach them to cherish peace and be courageous in taking responsibility. At the same time, strengthen the town’s defenses and prepare for any storms that may come.”

“And we will bring back more stories and knowledge.” Jack’s voice sounded particularly firm in the night wind. “Every step of exploration is to make this world a brighter and better place.”

The scholar smiled gently, his eyes gleaming with wisdom: "Yes, what we brought back was not just material goods, but also seeds of hope. We must let these seeds take root and sprout in everyone's heart, until one day they grow into towering trees that illuminate the darkness."

The merchant uncle patted the backpack beside him, which contained the rare treasures they had collected along the way: "Don't forget, every exchange is not just about gaining, but also about spreading culture and wisdom, and connecting people's hearts."

As night deepened and the crowd gradually dispersed, a new atmosphere permeated the air—a mixture of anticipation and hope that inspired everyone.

Just then, a little boy mustered up his courage, ran up to Jack, looked up at him, and said, "Brother, I want to be like you when I grow up and become a brave explorer!"

Jack smiled, his smile full of anticipation for the future: "Then you'd better be prepared to learn a lot, and most importantly, never forget why you started."

The conversation ended in a warm atmosphere, but Jack and his companions' new journey had only just begun. Behind them, the entire town seemed poised and ready for the challenges to come, each person weaving their own heroic legend in their own way.

“Remember,” the wise man’s final words echoed in the night sky, “no matter what the future holds, as long as we have light in our hearts, hope and courage will always be with us.”

The following morning, sunlight pierced through the thin mist, illuminating the town's cobblestone streets and casting a golden glow over Jack and his companions as they prepared to depart. The townspeople emerged from their homes, gathering at the only crossroads leading out to the outside world, their faces etched with a mixture of reluctance and anticipation.

"Jack, you must come back safely!" The middle-aged woman's eyes were slightly red, and she held a family heirloom amulet tightly in her hand, gently placing it into Jack's hand. "This is my family's guardian spirit. Take it with you, and may it protect you from the wind and rain."

"Thank you, Auntie." Jack accepted it solemnly, feeling the weight of trust and love.

"Hey, you guys!" A burly young man pushed through the crowd, carrying several gleaming tools. "These are things I forged all night, made of special materials, designed specifically to tackle unknown challenges. Don't worry about the weight; they could be lifesavers!"

Jack accepted the heavy equipment, his gratitude evident in his eyes. "You're always so reliable, brother."

A soft chuckle rippled through the crowd, followed by an elderly man who shuffled forward, holding a worn book with yellowed slips of paper tucked between its pages. "In my youth," he said, "I traveled across much of the world. Every mark in this book is a testament to my journey. Though I can no longer personally lead these expeditions, I hope my experiences can guide you."

Jack lowered his head and turned the pages, each page seemingly containing endless stories. He gently closed the book, bowed deeply to the old man, and said, "We will cherish this inheritance of wisdom."

Just then, a lively little girl squeezed to the front and handed over a meticulously drawn map, marked with many whimsical symbols only children would use. "This is my treasure map. It might not be very useful, but... I hope it brings you good luck!"

Jack smiled and took the map, then bent down and gave the little girl a hug. "Thank you, little explorer. We will find those treasures, whether they are physical objects or dreams."

As farewells grew louder, Jack and his group prepared to depart. Amidst a chorus of blessings, the wise man slowly stepped into the center of the crowd, raised one hand, and instantly, the noise subsided into silence.

"Friends," the wise man's voice resounded through the heavens, "Jack and his companions are about to embark on an unknown journey, not only to explore and discover, but also to protect the future of all of us. Their journey will be illuminated by the fire in each of our hearts, and no matter how dark the moments they encounter, our faith and courage will be their strongest support."

“Jack, remember,” the wise man turned to the young man who was about to embark on his journey, his eyes shining with a profound light, “true power lies not in conquest, but in understanding and empathy. When you encounter unprecedented challenges, remember to look back, we will be here, illuminating your path with our light.”

"Let's go!" As the wise man's words fell, the townspeople shouted in unison, like waves of the ocean, one after another.

Jack turned and nodded to his companions, their eyes filled with determination and anticipation. As the villagers watched them go, they embarked on their journey into the unknown, each step heavy yet brimming with hope.

Just as the group was about to disappear from sight, the little boy shouted again, "Brother, you must come back and tell me where the most magical place in the world is!"

Jack stopped and turned around, his smile shining brightly in the sunlight: "Wait for me, I will bring you back the wonders of the whole world."

The wind rises, the leaves dance, and the town returns to its usual tranquility. But in everyone's heart, a seed called "expectation" has been planted, waiting for the day when it blossoms.
