Chapter 239 Temple

As the group followed the mysterious guardian deeper into the temple, the surroundings grew increasingly dark and cold. An ancient and silent aura permeated the air, creating an inexplicable sense of oppression. At this moment, a young villager muttered softly, "This place really makes my heart pound..."

Another villager gently patted him on the shoulder: "Don't be afraid. Look at those experts in front of us. Their courage and determination are our strength. With them here, we will definitely be able to pass these tests smoothly."

Hearing this, Sofia smiled slightly, a warmth spreading through her heart. She turned to the villager who had encouraged her, her eyes filled with gratitude: "Thank you for your support. With your trust, we will move forward with even greater determination."

The group continued following the guardian and eventually arrived at a spacious hall filled with various mechanisms. Ancient mechanical devices were everywhere, and eerie lights flickered in the corners, creating an involuntary sense of tension.

"Welcome to the true testing grounds." The guardian's deep voice echoed through the hall, sending chills down everyone's spine. "The trials to come will test your abilities and wisdom. Are you ready to face everything?"

Arya stepped forward, her gaze fixed firmly on the other person: "We're ready. Please lead the way."

The guardian nodded slightly, then took a seemingly ordinary wooden box from the wall and placed it in front of them. "Open it, complete the task inside, and you will pass this test." After saying that, he stepped aside to observe.

Karl stepped forward and carefully opened the box. Inside lay an ancient parchment scroll and some strange parts. "We need to reassemble these things."

Sophia took the note and studied it carefully before looking up and saying, "According to this instruction, what we need to do is assemble these parts into a small, automatically moving machine. The time limit is to complete it within one incense stick's time."

Seeing this, the young villagers all expressed their desire to participate: "This looks quite interesting! How about we help out? Many hands make light work!"

Hank then assigned tasks to everyone: "Zhang, go find screwdrivers and other tools. Wei, you're in charge of cleaning and organizing the parts... This will improve efficiency a lot." Under his guidance, everyone worked together and quickly began their respective tasks.

Just as they were engrossed in their work, a whispering sound suddenly came from not far away—

"These people are really interesting; they can remain calm even under such tense circumstances," a passing traveler remarked.

“That’s true, if it were me, I would probably be completely overwhelmed by now,” the girl next to her chimed in. “But they all seem to have a clear division of labor, and they work together quite well.”

Meanwhile, Mark, who was busy at work, suddenly realized that he couldn't install a certain key component. "Hey... there seems to be a problem here..." Just as he was puzzled, James had a flash of inspiration and came up with a solution. "Let me try this, see if it works better." He quickly adjusted the position and successfully solved the problem.

As the last fragment successfully embedded itself in its place, a soft click was heard, and the entire machine slowly started up. Everyone couldn't help but cheer. "Yes! We really did it!"

However, the joy did not last long. The once silent space suddenly became bustling with activity: the murals on the walls began to glow and change; the previously closed passageways automatically opened their doors...

Arya looked at the Guardians, who smiled and nodded: "Congratulations, you have completed the second trial. Now, prepare to face even greater challenges..."

At that very moment, the uninvited guest who had been observing the situation from the shadows finally stood up and slowly walked forward. At the same time, he muttered something to himself. "Well, this is just the beginning... everyone, prepare yourselves for what's to come."

Sofia and Arya exchanged a glance, seemingly conveying a firm belief to each other. "No matter what, we must persevere to the end."

The guardian looked at the group of energetic young people and couldn't help but smile. "Alright, I'll take you to the next location now."

They followed the guardian through one mysterious and unpredictable chamber after another. Whispers rippled through the room constantly.

"I've heard the tests here are extremely difficult to pass..."

"Yeah, but look at these young people, they all look so confident! I really envy that kind of passionate feeling!"

Just as everyone was captivated by the novelty before them, Karl noticed two travelers whispering amongst themselves not far away.

"Those people over there look like they're going to participate in this trial, right? I wonder what the outcome will be?" A middle-aged man said with a light laugh, his words revealing a hint of curiosity.

A simply dressed girl standing next to him nodded in agreement, saying, "That's right. If I were faced with such a difficult task, I would have been completely at a loss. But they were able to solve the problem so quickly and calmly."

At the same time, everyone was led into a large room that appeared to be empty but was actually filled with countless obstacles and mechanisms.

"Is this the next level? It looks so complicated!" Lili, one of the young villagers, exclaimed in amazement as she stared ahead with wide eyes.

“It really is a test of character,” agreed Brother Liu, who was a bit older. “But as long as we work together, there’s nothing that’s impossible, right?” He then made a cheering gesture to the others, encouraging them to muster their energy and face the upcoming challenges.

Just as everyone was debating their next move, Sofia suddenly noticed a subtle change in light emanating from a hidden spot. She quickly called Arya to go and investigate.

After careful exploration, the two finally discovered that there was a secret door leading to other areas hidden here, and they also found some important equipment and related map guides.

When they shared the good news with their companions, it immediately elicited bursts of joyful cheers:

"That's great! With this, we should be able to find the right way out more easily, right?" Xiao Wang asked, his face beaming with excitement.

Hank couldn't help but smile upon hearing this: "That's right! And with these things, our chances of winning will increase significantly."

However, just as everything was progressing smoothly, a deafening sound suddenly rang out throughout the space, followed by a large number of strange creatures emerging from the walls and rapidly approaching the group.

Seeing this, everyone involuntarily became more vigilant and prepared for battle.

"Everyone, please be extremely careful!" Karl shouted a warning to his companions, already mentally prepared to face any unknown dangers at any time.

The guardians reappeared before them. "It seems the trial has only just begun. These guardians are here to stop you. Only by defeating them can you advance."

Upon hearing this, the villagers appeared both nervous and excited, rubbing their hands together, eager to try their hand at it.

“Hey, this is way more fun than assembling those parts!” Mark exclaimed excitedly.

"That's true, but don't let your guard down," Hank added seriously.

Just as the battle was about to begin, the man who had been observing from the shadows spoke again—

"Heh heh, things are getting more and more interesting. I hope you don't let this adventure become too boring." As the last word fell, his figure gradually disappeared into the shadows, leaving only a lingering, enigmatic laugh echoing in the air...

The group exchanged bewildered glances, a sudden silence casting a shadow over everyone's hearts. "Who is this person? And what does he want?" With these questions and anxieties, the adventure officially began a new chapter…

"No matter what awaits us ahead," Arya said firmly to everyone, "as long as we stand united, there is no difficulty we cannot overcome." With that, she drew her longsword and launched an attack on the monster.
