As the warriors once again embarked on their journey to the "Crossroads of Destiny," a tense atmosphere hung in the air. Everyone knew that every step they took would determine the fate of themselves and the land.
In the dimly lit passageway, George said softly, "The structure here seems more complex than I imagined."
Lett nodded in agreement, “Indeed, there aren’t that many forks in the road on the map. We have to be extra careful.”
Suddenly, a small monster leaped out from the shadows and pounced on a young man at the back of the group. Anna reacted swiftly, parrying the attack with her short sword and piercing the monster's heart with a single blow.
The surrounding young villagers all looked on in amazement. "Wow, Anna is amazing!"
A timid young man nervously swallowed hard: "That really scared me to death. If you hadn't been there, we might already be..."
Rex glanced back at the young man and said seriously, "Now is not the time to panic. Everyone must remain vigilant; any carelessness could lead to irreversible consequences."
After a difficult journey, the group finally arrived at a wider road. "It seems this is the path to the legendary 'Crossroads of Destiny'," the old hunter George said, pointing ahead.
After carefully observing the surroundings, Chen Ge pointed out: "But have you all noticed? The further we go, the more we can feel a strange power fluctuation in the air."
Carlos nodded in agreement. “That’s right. And have you noticed more and more strange symbols along the way?” He pointed to the various markings carved on the walls and continued, “I think these might hide some special meaning or warning message.”
Just then, a low growl broke the brief silence—another wave of stronger and more numerous monsters appeared! "Look over there!" someone shouted.
Dozens of green eyes gleamed in the shadows, rapidly approaching them. The entire group immediately assumed a fighting stance to meet the challenge.
After a hard-fought battle, the forest ranger finally managed to temporarily withstand the attack, and once again swung the glowing stone to cast a teleportation spell. "This won't do! We must find a way to solve the problem at its root," Rex said, frowning. "Otherwise, we'll just be stuck in an endless loop, wasting our energy and time."
"Speaking of which, that compass seems to be reacting a bit?" Wright was surprised to find that the compass needle, which had been hanging quietly on his chest, was now spinning wildly uncontrollably. "Could it be hinting at something?"
Suddenly, a huge roar came from afar, causing everyone to shiver involuntarily. "Oh no... that sound is really strange!" the young farmer said worriedly.
Just then, a figure silently approached them from behind. "Oh, looks like you've run into some trouble~" The familiar yet unfamiliar voice made everyone turn around—it was the mysterious green-eyed man who had been watching them!
Faced with this sudden turn of events, the warriors couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. "Who exactly are you?" Rex asked sharply, gripping his longsword tightly, ready to deal with any unexpected situation.
The green-eyed man smirked coldly. "Heh heh heh... My name is irrelevant. What's truly exciting is what's about to happen. So, children... are you ready for an even greater trial?"
As his figure gradually faded from view, the surroundings returned to complete darkness and silence... yet the invisible sense of oppression grew even stronger...
Just as everyone was so frightened by the sudden appearance of the mysterious green-eyed man that they dared not even breathe, a bold young man suddenly spoke up: "Um... have you guys noticed that although it's getting darker and darker around us, I have a strange feeling in my heart?"
Rex turned to look at the young man, frowning, and asked, "What do you feel?"
"I can't explain it, it's like there's an invisible force calling us forward. I... I always feel that we should keep moving forward, we can't stop here."
George nodded. "Perhaps this is his intuition. But he's right, the longer we stay in this maze, the more dangerous it becomes. We really shouldn't linger here."
At that moment, Anna looked firmly at everyone: "No matter what, we have no way back now. Only by bravely charging forward can we find a way out! Let's all cheer each other on!" As soon as she finished speaking, several young people who had been somewhat panicked regained their spirits and followed. "Yes, Anna is right! We can't be intimidated by some mere unknown creatures!"
The group continued their ascent deeper into the area, and soon a wide river came into view. "Wow—" a young farmer who had never seen such a magnificent sight exclaimed in surprise, "It's amazing that such a beautiful river is hidden here!"
Carlos bent down and gently stroked the waterway: "The water is so cool... but why does it seem like there's a slight vibration coming from the bottom? And if you listen carefully, there's a sound like breathing mixed in..."
Chen Ge's expression changed: "This is bad, everyone... This must be the aura of some powerful creature." He looked up into the distance and vaguely saw what seemed to be a pair of huge eyes lurking in the water, watching their every move.
Suddenly, a massive shadow leaped from the river, splashing up huge waves. "A dragon! It's a real water dragon!" several onlookers exclaimed excitedly. "My God! It's countless times more powerful than the stories describe!"
Rex immediately assumed a fighting stance to meet the attack, shouting a warning: "Scatter and find good terrain! Don't get caught by their tails!" The warriors reacted swiftly, scattering in all directions. The battle commenced!
After a grueling and arduous effort, they finally subdued the giant monster and drove it back into the water through teamwork. Just as everyone breathed a sigh of relief, a familiar and chilling voice rang in their ears again—
"Not bad, not bad, it seems you do possess some skill." The mysterious man spoke in his usual lazy tone. "But this is just the beginning... There are even more interesting challenges awaiting you! Hahaha..."
After the laughter subsided, silence returned. Only a few torches casting a faint glow kept the adventurers company...
"What exactly is this guy trying to do?" Wright gripped his bow and arrow tightly, a hint of confusion and bewilderment flashing in his eyes.
"Who cares who he is, what we need to do now is find a way out as quickly as possible!" George said in a deep voice. "But he said there are more challenges ahead... We'd better prepare more. Especially this compass, it might really hold some secret."
Meanwhile, behind a grove of trees not far away, a pair of sharp eyes silently watched the group. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, seemingly foreshadowing an even more unpredictable and treacherous story about to unfold...
