Chapter 315 Ancient Sites

As the group ventured deeper into the ruins, the chill in the air grew heavier, as if something was watching them. Ancient runes on the surrounding stone walls began to flicker faintly, seemingly telling tales of the past. Suddenly, a faint but clear sound of footsteps came from the end of the corridor, alerting them.

"Who's there?" Karl asked in a deep voice, his tone firm and unwavering.

The footsteps paused for a moment, then a thin figure slowly emerged from the darkness. It was a young man dressed in tattered clothes, his eyes filled with fear and unease.

"You...you're here to find treasure?" The young man's voice trembled, as if he hesitated whether to continue.

Arya stepped forward, trying to make her tone gentle. "We are indeed here looking for something important. How did you know we were here?"

The young man swallowed nervously, his eyes quickly scanning the crowd. "I live nearby and once thought about going inside to look for the treasure, but it's too dangerous..." Before he could finish speaking, a huge spider suddenly swooped down from the ceiling and attacked the young man.

Arthur swiftly drew his sword, severing the spider's silk with a few clean, decisive movements. "Don't be afraid, you'll be safe with us," he said, pulling the young hunter aside.

The young man, still shaken, nodded. "Thank you for saving me. I will do my best to help you find the treasure."

Just then, an old man passing by suddenly appeared. He looked old and tired, but a look of surprise flashed in his eyes when he saw this unexpected turn of events. "Oh my, I didn't expect you to be so brave, daring to face even that giant spider."

The mysterious woman chuckled and said, "Old man, sometimes courage is more important than force."

“Yes, that’s true.” The old man nodded. “But there are many other unknown dangers here, and you must be careful. By the way, this young man is called Jack. He’s familiar with the terrain around here and might be able to be your guide.”

Jack looked at the old man gratefully, then turned to the group. "I know the way. I can take you to the very heart of the place."

"That's great, let's go!" Lorenzo said excitedly, clearly looking forward to the adventure ahead.

As they ventured deeper into the ruins, they discovered more and more amazing things: ancient murals, strange mechanisms, and various unknown dangers. Each challenge tested their wisdom and courage.

Along the way, they encountered several other explorers who had also come to this place. One of them, a woman who claimed to be the leader of thieves, was particularly arrogant. "Hmph, not bad to have found this place. But don't be too happy yet, there are even bigger and more terrible dangers ahead."

Carl responded, "Don't worry, we won't be easily intimidated. No matter what happens, we will unite to overcome the difficulties."

Just as the atmosphere became tense, Jack pointed to a room not far ahead and said, "Look, there seems to be a light there!"

Everyone turned to look, and saw a faint but warm light shining through the crack in the door. Arya stepped forward first and carefully pushed the door open…

"This is...?" Everyone stared in astonishment.

The room was filled with various strange, glowing minerals, and in the center was a huge crystal ball that emitted a soft and sacred light.

“This is the legendary source of light!” the new member whispered, his voice filled with awe.

“This is exactly what we’ve been looking for.” The mysterious woman’s eyes gleamed.

Just then, a deep voice came from the shadows, “Welcome here, but I must warn you that taking the Source of Light away will not be easy.”

Everyone turned to look, and saw a figure slowly emerge from the darkness, a sinister smile on his face. "I am the guardian of this area. Unless you can prove that you are worthy of this power, don't even think about taking away the Source of Light."

“We’ve faced so many challenges before, and this one is no exception,” Carl said firmly, and the others nodded in agreement.

“Alright,” the guardian said slowly, “you can choose to pass the test or you can choose to give up. But once you choose, there is no turning back.”

Arya looked up at her teammates, her eyes filled with unwavering determination. "We are all willing to accept the test."

"Fine, then let's see if you're worthy of this power." The guardian's tone was provocative.

At this crucial moment, an unexpected sound interrupted the conversation—heavy footsteps came from afar, followed by a powerful surge of magical energy.

"It seems we've encountered a new challenge," Karl said in a deep voice.

“No, this is no ordinary challenge,” the mysterious woman said softly. “I think our real test has only just begun.”

"Are you ready?" the guardian sneered. "Prepare to face the judgment of fate."

Everyone gripped their weapons tightly, their eyes filled with both determination and wariness. A battle that would determine their fate was about to begin...

(The dialogue leaves the audience in suspense)

“Everyone be careful,” Karl gripped his sword tightly, his eyes scanning the surroundings, seemingly ready to face any sudden danger. The tense atmosphere made everyone's breathing rapid.

Jack followed closely behind the group, his eyes filled with fear but even more so with anticipation: "I remember this place. Legend has it that there is a hidden door here that leads to the depths."

“Really? That’s great news.” Arthur patted Jack’s shoulder encouragingly. “You did a great job, lad.”

Meanwhile, the heavy footsteps in the distance grew clearer, and the entire space seemed to tremble slightly. The mysterious woman frowned slightly and said softly, "It seems we are not the only target; others also desire the Source of Light."

Arya bit her lower lip, but her gaze was unwavering: "No matter what, we can't let this opportunity slip through our fingers."

As the group approached the supposedly hidden door, a deep chanting suddenly arose, followed by the slow cracking of a seemingly impenetrable stone wall, revealing a hidden path behind it. "Incredible!" Lorenzo exclaimed, "This is a miracle!"

"Hurry up, get in now!" Karl shouted. Everyone quickly crossed the newly appeared passage, but just as they stepped into the other end, the original exit was instantly sealed off again.

“We’re trapped!” Arthur surveyed his surroundings warily, his longsword gleaming coldly. “But this might not be a bad thing; perhaps it’s a way to protect us from attacks by enemies outside.”

The mysterious woman nodded in agreement: "That's right, the important thing is to stay calm and observe every detail carefully."

As the group continued forward, the ground suddenly began to shake, and countless small stones fell from above, nearly causing several slower-reacting individuals to slip and fall. Just then, three more figures appeared ahead, clearly among the competitors mentioned earlier who wanted to seize the Source of Light.

The man in the middle of the group, dressed in magnificent armor, laughed arrogantly: "You guys actually dare to trespass into our designated area, you're really overestimating yourselves."

Carl responded, "Strength is not something to be flaunted. If you are willing to harm others just to fight for resources, then we will not back down."

"Haha, then let's settle this with our strength!" After saying that, the other party swung his sword and charged at Karl.

A battle erupted immediately, with everyone present giving their all, making for an exceptionally intense scene. Just as the two sides were locked in a stalemate, a sudden burst of light illuminated the entire area, catching everyone off guard. It turned out that the source of light was emitting a dazzling radiance, illuminating the entire room as brightly as day.

"This is... it activated by itself?" Arya said in surprise.

The guardian's figure appeared in mid-air, staring coldly at the crowd: "Now that you have demonstrated enough courage and wisdom, you will face the final test."

“Please tell us what the test is?” Carl asked.

“It’s very simple,” the Guardian explained. “Whoever is the first to touch the Heart of Light and keep their heart pure will obtain its power.”

Upon hearing this, a competitive atmosphere immediately filled the group of adventurers. At the same time, the newly joined travelers also showed strong desires, especially the woman who called herself the leader of the thieves, whose eyes gleamed with greed.

"I will definitely win and show you!" she declared loudly.

"Hmph, then let's have a contest." Arthur retorted from the other side, not to be outdone.

“Wait a minute,” the mysterious woman suddenly spoke up, “Since the Heart of Light requires those with pure hearts to come into contact with it, why don’t we act together and help each other? Perhaps this would better reflect true friendship and cooperation.”

After a moment of silence, they exchanged smiles, all understanding that sometimes unity is more valuable than individual heroism. "Good idea," Karl nodded in agreement, "Then let's face the final challenge together!"

With a deafening roar, more obstacles and traps appeared in the room, testing the limits of each explorer. And when they finally stood before the Heart of Light—

“There’s only one step left,” Arya said softly. “Whatever the outcome, at least we know that we tried together.”

“Yes,” Jack nodded, tears welling in his eyes, “this will be an unforgettable experience for us.”

Just then, another noise came from outside the door, as if someone was trying to break through the barrier to get in...

“It seems we still have a lot to do,” the mysterious woman smiled, “but at least for now, let’s take this first step.”

"Yes, let us move toward the light," Karl said finally, and everyone reached out together to touch the warm and sacred heart of light.

Who will ultimately be chosen as the lucky one? A new chapter of adventure has only just begun...
