Chapter 2: Fatherly and Motherly Love, Severed Ties

"Lin An, how dare you talk to your brother like that? Are you trying to drive me crazy?"

Zhang Wanru reached out to grab Lin An's arm, but he shook her off and went straight into his room.

Second sister Lin Rou stepped forward and grabbed her mother's hand: "Mom, don't waste your time with this ill-mannered person. He has no conscience. It's a wonder that Xiao Zhe even thought of taking him to the hospital."

"Madam, the car is ready. Are we still going to the hospital?" the butler interjected.

Coming to his senses, Lin Haoran frowned and said, "Someone of you should go in and check on him, and bandage him up first."

The older sisters exchanged glances, none of them making a move. Lin An's behavior just now was so unfamiliar to them; it felt like he had become a different person. Lin An showed no intention of easing the situation today. In the past, he had gone to great lengths to please them, to the point that his sisters were disgusted by him.

He would wait for his eldest sister to get off work and make her a late-night snack. He would insist on going shopping with his second and third sisters without considering the consequences. His fourth sister, Lin Wei, had just entered the entertainment industry, and he would argue with anti-fans online every day. He was accused by the fan community of being crazy dogs. His twin sister, Lin Xi, was in the same grade as him. She was afraid of being gossiped about by her classmates because of the new brother. She only wanted to go to and from school with Lin Zhe and avoided him at school. Every time Lin An saw her, he would greet her loudly, which caused a lot of gossip among the classmates. Recently, she didn't even want to go to school anymore.

Zhang Wanru was still angry. Seeing that no one responded to her father, Lin Zhe sensibly stepped forward again: "I'll go."

Lin Zhe walked to Lin An's door and knocked gently a few times: "Brother, come out quickly. Everyone is worried about you. Don't hurt Mom and Dad's feelings anymore. Don't worry, I won't go to the competition."

Lin An found a cloth in the room to bandage his wound and began packing his meager belongings. Hearing Lin Zhe's sarcastic remarks, he felt physically uncomfortable: "Get out, don't force me to curse you."

When her beloved younger brother was scolded, the second sister, Lin Rou, immediately changed her expression: "Mom and Dad, look at Lin An! How could he bully Xiao Zhe like that?"

Lin Zhe hung his head, looking wronged, and walked up to his parents: "Mom and Dad, don't blame my older brother. He just has a bad temper. He'll be fine once he calms down."

Seeing his youngest son wronged, Lin Haoran flew into a rage, walked straight to Lin An's door, and pounded on it fiercely, shouting, "You come out here! Come out now!"

Seeing that he had successfully stirred up trouble, a barely perceptible hint of smugness flashed in Lin Zhe's eyes.

Lin An suddenly flung open the door, causing Lin Haoran to stumble and nearly fall. His anger reached its peak, and he pointed at Lin An's face, roaring, "Go apologize to your brother!"

"What if I don't apologize?" Lin An's lips curled into a smile.

"Then get out of the Lin family and never come back," Lin Haoran said through gritted teeth.

"Okay, is this what you all meant?" Lin An looked at his mother and sisters.

“If you continue to be so disobedient, I can’t keep you here,” Zhang Wanru said coldly.

Lin An remained expressionless and uttered a single word, "Okay." Even after being reborn, he found his parents' affections still so fragile. He had come to terms with it; there was no need to force himself into a family he couldn't fit into. He could simply leave.

Lin An opened his desk drawer, took out paper and pen, and came out.

"Lin An, what are you doing? Have you thought it through? Quickly apologize to Xiao Zhe." Third Sister Lin Xia glanced at him.

"I've thought it all through," Lin An said calmly.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, he wrote down the agreement to sever ties: "Lin An and his biological father Lin Haoran and biological mother Zhang Wanru voluntarily sever ties."

Without hesitation, Lin An signed his name at the bottom and handed the agreement to his parents.

"Lin An, what do you mean? Are you threatening Mom and Dad?" Lin Rou'er looked at the agreement in front of her, astonished.

Zhang Wanru was so angry she couldn't speak, her whole body trembling. Lin Haoran was about to explode: "Fine, Lin An, you've really made something of yourself."

"I'm giving you one last chance. Go apologize to your brother, and I can pretend I've never seen this thing. Threatening me with something like this won't work."

Lin An's voice was cold: "Mr. Lin, I didn't mean to threaten you. Sign it, and from now on I will have nothing to do with the Lin family."

Lin Wan, the eldest sister, sensed that Lin An was different this time and felt uneasy. She took the agreement and tried to stop the situation from escalating further: "Stop making a fuss. Let's leave it at that for today. I will persuade Mom and Dad to forgive you. Lin An, you go back to your room first."

Lin An's face was icy: "I don't need forgiveness. Whether you sign or not, our relationship ends here today."

"Lin An, what's wrong with you? We're taking the college entrance exam this year. Where can you go if you leave the Lin family? Transfer back to your hometown? Go back to your orphanage?" The twin sister, Lin Xi, couldn't sit still any longer.

"You don't need to worry about it. I have my own plans. Whether I drop out of school or become homeless, don't worry, I will never set foot in the Lin family again."

The usually elegant Zhang Wanru roared, "I gave birth to you and raised you, and this is how you repay me? If I had known this would happen, I should have aborted you."

“You lost me when I was two years old. Counting the six months I’ve been back, you’ve raised me for two and a half years. Let’s say it’s 20,000 yuan a year, so let’s say 60,000 yuan.” In fact, the Lin family hasn’t bought Lin An anything in the six months since he came back. He bought his daily necessities with money he earned from part-time jobs, and it didn’t cost him 20,000 yuan at all.

"And you really had a hard time giving birth to me. Ten months of pregnancy plus three months of breastfeeding cost 10,000 a month. I'll say 130,000 for you, round it up, so I owe you 200,000 in total."

Lin An quickly wrote down an IOU and signed his name: "This is an IOU for you. I will pay it back as soon as possible. Now can you sign the agreement and let me go?"

Lin An sarcastically remarked, "Two hundred thousand, that's enough to make money."

Lin Haoran completely lost his mind at this moment: "Sign it then, and if you have the guts, never come back."

Zhang Wanru also signed her name along with Lin's father: "You won't regret it."

"Don't worry, I won't regret it," Lin An said coldly. He took the agreement, carefully folded it, and put it in his pocket. He turned around and picked up his luggage, which he had just packed. A backpack was filled with everything he owned from his time at the Lin family's house.

Watching Lin An sling his backpack over his shoulder and walk away, Zhang Wanru came to her senses a little more. After all, he was her own son, but in this situation, she couldn't bring herself to stop him. Instead, she became angry and embarrassed: "Stop right there. Once you walk out of this door, don't ever come back."

Lin An left without looking back.

Seeing that Lin An had been abandoned by the Lin family, a hint of smugness flashed across Lin Zhe's face. The Lin family was a large and powerful family with an annual income of over 100 million. He had been worried that the real young master would take away his inheritance rights when he returned, but he did not expect that it would be resolved so easily.

Seeing this, Butler Li chased after him. When Grandpa Lin An was alive, he always hoped to find his grandson. Butler Li had followed the old man his whole life and was the only person in the family who truly cared about Lin An: "Young Master, where are you going?"

Butler Li knew Lin An well; this time, he was serious.
