Chapter 18 Let's go see the pigs!

Xu Mo smiled awkwardly. After all, it was his second sister, who was closest to Lin Xia, who had spoken up, so he felt embarrassed to refuse and forced himself to say, "Okay, I'll teach him a lesson for you."

Xu Mo chased after him, but Lin An had already walked several dozen meters away: "Are you leaving?"

"Um."

"Then I'll give you a ride. This is a villa area, it's not easy to get a taxi here. Wait for me a moment." Before Lin An could refuse, Xu Mo had already gone to get the car.

A few minutes later, Xu Mo pulled up in front of him in an Audi: "Get in."

Xu Mo was a gentle and refined person. In his opinion, Lin An had not done anything wrong in what had just happened. On the contrary, Lin Rou's attitude was excessive.

Seeing that Lin An had fastened his seatbelt, Xu Mo forced a smile: "Lin An, I'm sorry I didn't recognize you before. Xia Xia only introduced me to Lin Zhe."

"It's alright, the Lin family has nothing to do with me."

Xu Mo tried to educate her by persuading her: "Don't think like that. We're family, so it's inevitable that we'll have some disagreements."

The Lin family's repeated harassment wore down Lin An's patience. He sighed and said, "If you're going to say all this, just drop me off at a bus stop."

Seeing his pale face, Xu Mo smiled awkwardly and changed the subject to something lighter: "You know about feng shui?"

Lin An had indeed read several related books, and with the guidance of "Life Skills Collection," he had a certain amount of knowledge: "Hmm, I know a little bit about it."

"My grandfather always felt that the feng shui of our old house was bad, which is why our family business has been getting worse and worse. If you have time, please take a look. I'll pay you."

Lin An wasn't greedy for money, but he was interested in testing his knowledge of feng shui: "Sure, but I don't have much time because I'm usually at school. You can take a video of your home's layout and furnishings and show it to me."

In his previous life, Lin An had thought his brother-in-law was a good person—refined in appearance and kind in character. The two chatted all the way, and he figured out why Xu Mo was so persistent about the hotel project. It turned out that the partner was introduced by Lin Xia, and if he didn't show enthusiasm, Lin Xia might ignore him.

"Make sure you thoroughly investigate your partner's background," Lin An reminded him again before getting out of the car. That was all he could do.

Lin An asked Xu Mo to drop him off at the school gate. He hadn't had time to look through both boxes of books last time, and he wondered if there might be some hidden gems among them.

Seeing that the school gate was only wide enough for two people to pass through, and that students were playing football on the playground, Lin An felt relieved, realizing that he could enter the school on weekends.

He had just stepped one leg toward the door when a shout came: "Hey, you student, get out! Who let you in?"

"You're not allowed to come to school on weekends, didn't your teacher tell you?"

A security guard craned his neck and leaned half his body out of the duty room, yelling at him. Lin An then realized that it was the same security guard from last time. If he wasn't mistaken, it was highly likely that he had deleted the surveillance video of Lin Zhe tampering with the exam room.

Lin An wanted to get in and find the book quickly, so he patiently pleaded, "Big brother, I see the school gate is open, please let me in. I'll just find a book and come right back out."

The security guard replied coldly, "No, that's school policy."

"Brother, please, have mercy, I beg you, please make an exception."

"You student, why do you talk so much nonsense? Hurry up and get going."

“All the other students have gone in, so let me in too,” Lin An said, pointing to the people on the playground.

The security guard said impatiently, "They are them, and you are you. Who do you think you are? This gate is under my jurisdiction. I can let whoever I want in."

Faced with such blatant discrimination, Lin An was furious: "We're all students, why can't I get in?"

The security guard felt his authority was challenged and was furious: "Can't I just do whatever I want to you, you little brat? Get out of here right now!"

After yelling, he pressed the close button on the control panel, and the electric gate slid shut in front of Lin An.

The security guard sat back down in the duty room, muttering to himself, "This poor student dares to challenge me? He gave me a red envelope. He thinks he can compare himself to the rich kids. He doesn't know his own worth. He thinks he can get in empty-handed. Dream on."

Lin An took out his phone. In this situation, he had no choice but to ask Principal Chen for help. He opened WeChat, scrolled down a page, and his conversation with Principal Chen was still at the system introduction: "You have added Yifanfengshun. You can start chatting now."

"Principal Chen, I want to go into the library to borrow a book, but the security guard stopped me at the entrance. Could you please put in a good word for me?"

The message had just been sent when Principal Chen's video call request popped up. Lin An hesitated for a few seconds before clicking to answer, and Principal Chen's slightly plump face appeared before him.

"Lin, don't panic. Take me over here and let me see which security guard is on duty today."

Lin An walked outside the duty room and raised his phone through the window.

The security guard didn't react for a moment, thinking he was going to record a video and post it online to accuse him: "Hey, hey, what are you doing? I'm warning you, this is a security area, no taking pictures without permission."

"Don't think I'm afraid of you just because you can film videos. I'm not letting you in today."

The security guard tried to snatch Lin An's phone through the window. Lin An was 1.85 meters tall, a full head taller than the guard, and could easily defeat him with just a wave of his hand.

"Hu Jun, stop! Did you hear me?"

The security guard, who was jumping up and down and waving his hands to snatch the phone, stopped when he heard someone call his name.

"Principal Chen?"

"Hu Jun, are you crazy? How dare you call me 'I' in front of you?"

Security guard Hu Jun broke out in a cold sweat and bowed to apologize over the phone: "Principal, I'm sorry, I really didn't know it was you. It's all this student's fault, he made me so angry."

“Our school rules state that students are not allowed to enter the school on weekends, but he insisted on coming in, so I was just following the rules.”

Lin An sneered and pointed his phone camera at the playground: "Principal Chen, he let a lot of students in to play football."

"Hu Jun, explain to me what's going on here?"

Hu Jun wrung his hands anxiously: "Let me explain, I also wanted to give the students a chance to exercise."

Lin An scoffed, "Exercising is more important to them than reading and studying."

At this stage, Principal Chen has no student more important than Lin An. He still hopes that Lin An will fulfill his dream of winning the national mathematics competition. When he hears that someone is trying to stop Lin An from studying, he is filled with anger.

"Hu Jun, open your dog eyes! His name is Lin An, and he's one of the most important students at our No. 12 Middle School. From now on, he can come to school whenever he wants. Don't stop him, understand?"

"Understood, Principal, don't worry." Hu Jun's back teeth were almost ground to powder. How could an ordinary student have the principal backing him up? Fortunately, the principal only gave him a verbal reprimand.

During the video call, Principal Chen put on a smiling face: "Lin, I'm sorry, I hope it didn't affect your study mood?"

Lin An sighed and said in a feigned sorrow, "The security guard never gives me a kind look. I'm so sad that I don't want to study anymore, especially math problems. I can't even do one."

Principal Chen frowned. Having taught students for thirty years, he understood the psychology of teenagers—fragile yet rebellious: "Student Lin, don't worry, I will definitely create a comfortable learning environment for you."

"Hu Jun, you will be on duty at the school's teaching practice base tomorrow."

Hu Jun was shocked: "Principal, what practice base? I've never heard of it."

"This is a government-led project to help farmers. Our school is responsible for providing counterpart assistance to the black pig farm in Beijiao Town. We'll keep a close eye on the pigs from now on. The students will be going to see the pigs on their spring outing this year," Principal Chen said earnestly.

"No, Principal, I'm allergic to pork," Hu Jun said, sobbing.

"It's a good opportunity to practice desensitization. Let's pack up and go tomorrow."

Hu Jun finally realized that things were going badly, and pulled Lin An aside to apologize: "Classmate, I'm sorry, I was wrong. I was blind and looked down on you. Please, be magnanimous and ask the principal for me."

Having lived two lives, Lin An looked back and realized that those who mocked him were often his closest family members and people with a little power. The greatest evil a person can do is to make things as difficult for others as possible within the limits of their own power.

Lin An had no intention of being a magnanimous person in this life. He said indifferently, "How can a student like me have the right to question the principal's arrangements? Brother Hu, just listen to the principal's arrangements and go watch the pigs."

Principal Chen put on a smiling face again and asked cheerfully, "Lin, are you feeling better now?"

"Much better, then Principal, I'll go to the school to learn first."

"Go, go, go quickly."

Lin An walked quickly toward the library.
