Yu Hao read through the contents and then signed his name at the end.
After seeing the staff off, Yu Hao went directly to the sanatorium on the mountaintop.
When I arrived, Yu Zhentian was drinking tea under the shade of a tree.
Yu Zhentian was a little puzzled when he saw Yu Hao. "Why are you here?"
Yu Hao sat down opposite him. "I have something to ask you."
Yu Zhentian was baffled by his attitude. "Speak!"
"Did you give Cao Xiaomei a sum of money?"
Who is Cao Xiaomei?
“…” Yu Hao choked for a moment, “...the director of the orphanage where Jian Yu lived.”
Yu Zhentian's expression remained unchanged. "How did you know?"
"You admitted it? How could you do this? Jian Yu has already been sent to an orphanage, how could you let people abuse and harm her? If she hadn't been lucky, she would have died long ago."
Yu Hao couldn't understand Yu Zhentian's behavior. No matter what, Jian Yu was still their child. Even tigers don't eat their cubs.
"This child is bad luck for you."
"That's all nonsense."
Yu Zhentian glanced at Yu Hao, "Do you really think it's nonsense?"
Yu Hao was about to deny it when Yu Zhentian immediately knew what he was going to say. "Think carefully before you answer. Your mother told you this on her deathbed. After you found out, why didn't you bring the person back immediately? Instead, you waited until after the funeral to ask for my opinion. When I told you not to bring them back, you didn't act like you were determined to. If Yu Cheng hadn't urged you two to bring them back, you would still be hesitating!"
Yu Zhentian said the child died at birth and the hospital will handle the rest of the matter.
When Yu Hao and Qi Yuexi found out, they were only sad for two days.
After being discharged from the hospital, neither of them mentioned the child again.
After learning that the child was still alive, the two seemed heartbroken, but in reality, they dragged their feet for several days, investigating everything about Jian Yu before finally bringing the child back.
"I just want you to accept Jian Yu. It will be better to bring her back once you accept her."
Yu Hao thought he had thought things through very thoroughly. His father was wary of Jian Yu, so he had to appease his father's emotions first.
"I came to the nursing home after your mother passed away, and I haven't seen Jian Yu since. Does it matter whether I accept her or not?"
Yu Zhentian was unwilling to accept Jian Yu, but he also did not want his granddaughter to continue to wander outside. Torn by this dilemma, he had no choice but to avoid seeing her.
"How can it not be important?"
Yu Hao considered himself a filial son, and besides, Yu Zhentian was the true backbone of the Yu Group, so his opinion was naturally very important.
"You brought Jian Yu back, but you're always finding fault with her. Aren't you just dissatisfied? She even ran away from home more than a month ago. Have you looked for her?"
Although Yu Zhentian lived in a sanatorium, he was fully aware of his family's affairs.
"She made a mistake first and acted out of spite; we didn't force her to leave. Besides, we're talking about Cao Xiaomei right now."
In the days following Jian Yu's departure, Yu Hao still remembered her, but as time went on, he completely forgot about the child.
If it weren't for what happened today, Yu Hao wouldn't have thought of Jian Yu at all!
Yu Zhentian listened quietly to Yu Hao's attempts to make amends, and after a long while, he finally spoke up to explain, "I had someone tell Cao Xiaomei that she didn't need to be taken care of, and your mother found out right afterward. Your mother immediately had the housekeeper warn Cao Xiaomei. Otherwise, do you think that child was really that lucky?"
It turned out that her father wasn't so heartless. Yu Hao's anger subsided considerably, though he still harbored resentment. "But not only did she not take good care of him, she also taught Jian Yu a lot of bad habits."
Yu Zhentian was also very dissatisfied with this, but he knew that it was normal to pick up bad habits in that kind of environment.
“I showed you all her records from the orphanage. She bullied younger children, would grab anything she saw, skipped school to play, and her grades were terrible. I told you to think it over then and there whether you wanted to bring her back. What would you do if she couldn't change her bad habits after we brought her back? You said you believed she would change, but what happened?”
Yu Hao grew angrier as he listened. There were some outstanding children in the orphanage, so why was Jian Yu so terrible?
Why did Cao Xiaomei lead Jian Yu in a negative direction?
They clearly took so much money from their family; shouldn't they at least teach them a lesson for the sake of the money?
Yet they were raised to behave that way.
Yu Hao stood up angrily, "I'm going to find a lawyer. Why should Cao Xiaomei take the money that was properly donated to the orphanage and spend it on her family?"
He didn't stop even when he bumped into Yu Ting. Yu Ting called out to him twice, but he didn't respond. Yu Ting was puzzled. "Dad, what's wrong with my brother?"
Yu Zhentian was furious that Cao Xiaomei dared to disobey him despite having received his instructions.
I originally thought that Jian Yu had been influenced by his environment and gone astray, but now it seems more likely that Cao Xiaomei did it on purpose.
Before his anger had subsided, seeing his daughter, who valued love above all else, made Yu Zhentian even angrier. "Why aren't you studying how to manage the company? What are you doing here?"
When the management company was mentioned, Yu Ting felt guilty and didn't dare to speak.
Seeing her eyes darting around, Yu Zhentian knew she hadn't listened to any of his advice, and his anger flared even more. "Go back! I need to rest."
He waved his hand, and the caregiver immediately came over to help him leave.
If he didn't leave soon, he was afraid he wouldn't be able to resist taking action.
Yu Ting quickly handed the bouquet to Yu Zhentian's nanny, who silently accepted it and followed Yu Zhentian and the caregiver away.
In the orphanage, Jian Yu sat in a chair, still waiting for news from Cao Xiaomei.
As it was getting dark, Gao's mother called Jian Yu and exchanged a few warm greetings before expressing her hope that Jian Yu would continue to tutor Gao Hui.
This phone call was within Jian Yu's expectations. After the exam, Jian Yu analyzed Gao Hui's answers and found that she would score about 30 points higher than usual.
After the results came out, Gao Hui immediately sent a message to Jian Yu.
Jian Yu looked out the window; it was almost dark. It seemed unlikely that Cao Xiaomei's matter would have any resolution today.
“I’ll go over and tutor Gao Hui in a bit.”
That was exactly what Gao's mother was waiting for. After getting the answer she wanted, she happily hung up the phone.
When Jian Yu arrived at the Gao family home, Gao's mother had already prepared two plates of fruit, one for Gao Hui and the other for Jian Yu.
This was the first time Jian Yu had been so warmly received by Gao's mother. Jian Yu was able to receive such treatment because of Gao Hui's improved grades.
"You guys go inside and get some extra lessons!"
This time, during the two-hour tutoring session, Gao's mother didn't come in to disturb her even once.
When Jian Yu left, Gao's mother even packed a portion of the bread she had made for him.
Several days later, a new director arrived at the orphanage.
Cao Xiaomei's case has caused a great stir, and she has now been detained on charges of embezzlement.
