Luan Hua stared at Xiaoyaozi for a full three seconds.
"No, thank you." He put away his money pouch and got into the car without looking back.
The crew member thought he could take one more person, but ended up embarrassed, saying, "Young man, this old man is also pitiful..."
"If you pity him, don't take his money," Luan Hua said before boarding the boat.
The crew member could only force a smile and say, "Sir, this...you see..." The intention to get rid of him was quite clear.
"Hey, don't you really want a great opportunity?!" Xiaoyaozi shouted at Luan Hua, who had already boarded the deck. He never expected that Luan Hua would refuse him.
Why isn't this going according to the script?
"Sir, our boat is about to leave. Can you come back when you have the money?"
Xiaoyaozi was so angry that he was puffing out his beard and glaring. He threw out three copper coins and chased after Luan Hua, shouting, "Young friend, wait for this old man!"
The crew member stared blankly at the three copper coins that had suddenly appeared in his hand.
"You, you don't want a great opportunity?" Xiaoyaozi asked breathlessly, blocking Luan Hua's path.
"Not interested." Luan Hua said expressionlessly.
"A great opportunity that can change your destiny!"
Go find someone else!
Luan Hua turned aside, intending to leave.
"Don't go!" Xiaoyaozi began to coax him gently, "This opportunity will give you boundless power. No one will be able to look down on you. You will no longer be a beggar. You will have no worries about food and clothing. Everyone will fear you and respect you! You will truly be above all others!"
Luan Hua answered immediately, "I don't want it."
"Hey, hey, hey—" Xiaoyaozi said angrily, "You refused without even asking! Do you know who I am!"
Luan Hua certainly knew.
The master of the Star-Picking Pavilion—Xiaoyaozi—was the one who led him astray onto the path of cultivation, filling his life with pitfalls.
"No matter who you are, no one can control my life."
Xiaoyaozi was exasperated, saying, "You should have lofty ideals! You are the chosen one!"
Luan Hua sneered, pushing aside the bustling crowd, leaving Xiaoyaozi with only his back to her.
The Star-Picking Pavilion. Luan Hua gritted his teeth in hatred whenever he thought of it. In both his past and present lives, he had repeatedly missed his chance with Ban Jian and He Ming Ke, all because of the Star-Picking Pavilion!
Gaze upon the heavens! Destiny!
He simply refused to comply!
The voyage took about three days. During these three days, Luan Hua was harassed by Xiaoyaozi incessantly. Whenever Xiaoyaozi had a chance, he would try to persuade him, which annoyed Luan Hua so much that he wished he could throw Xiaoyaozi overboard.
Finally, they arrived at Qinggeng Village, and Luan Hua disembarked.
He disembarked when Xiaoyaozi wasn't looking. When the crew told him he had arrived, he specifically instructed them not to tell anyone, especially that stingy and neurotic old man.
By the time Xiaoyaozi discovered it, Luan Hua had already disappeared without a trace, and the boat had sailed far away.
"You logged off too early! This isn't the place for the Immortal Sect!"
Only Xiaoyaozi was left on the boat, jumping and skipping.
Looking at the stone at the village entrance with the two large characters "Qinggeng" written on it, Luan Hua's heart pounded.
We've finally arrived!
"Hello," he asked an elderly woman passing by, "Do you know how to get to the Lin family's house?"
The old woman, carrying a basket on her back, straightened up and glanced at him. "Our entire village is basically all surnamed Lin."
"Is there a family whose daughter has very special eyes?" he asked in a different phrasing.
"Lin Banjian?"
"right!"
The old woman's expression immediately turned serious. "What do you want with her?"
Lin Banjian was considered an omen of bad luck in their village. She sized up the young man in front of her, trying to find out his purpose.
"I'm looking for her..." he said, as a thin little girl walked by.
The girl was hunched over, with dry, yellow hair. She seemed curious about him, an outsider, but only glanced at him briefly before lowering her head again.
In her eyes was the bright spot he had been searching for for countless lifetimes.
His mouth was open, but he got stuck.
A glance that lasts a lifetime.
