Chapter 11 Entering the Palace

When Li Mingke woke up again, she found herself lying on a soft, large bed. A fist-sized luminous pearl was held in a silk net at the head of the bed, allowing her to see everything around her.

The bed was wide, clearly a double bed. Lifting the curtains that resembled mandarin ducks playing in the water, the entire room was laid out before us.

Just as she was about to get out of bed, she discovered that her shoes were gone.

Her small, white feet stepped onto the carpet, the soft down seeping through her toes.

She got out of bed and took a few steps, but staggered a bit, so she quickly grabbed the table next to her for support.

It was a dressing table, its surface adorned with a dazzling array of gold and jade hairpins. Li Mingke couldn't help but glance at them several times before finally picking one up.

She gently picked up a small bird hairpin with a persimmon in its beak and examined it closely. Because she was disguised as a man, even if she was attracted to such things, she could only remain calm and control herself so that her gaze did not wander even slightly.

But now, no one pays attention to her, and she no longer needs to maintain her composure in public; she can freely show her daughterly side.

She held the hairpin to her head to see what she looked like, but found the mirror on the dressing table to be blurry.

It could only vaguely reflect a slender, graceful figure.

She seemed to regret it, sighed, and put the hairpin back.

After walking a few steps, I found a table with a piece of Xuan paper with writing on it. But when I got closer, I found that the writing was completely illegible and had been scribbled over.

She tried to discern carefully, but still found nothing.

However, she could completely understand the book next to her.

"The Unfounded Mind Technique..."

She slowly read aloud the words written in the book.

Mindset?

She immediately flipped through it.

This book does indeed contain various mental techniques, and they seem very suitable for her!

"My luck is too good! After being knocked unconscious by a snowball, I inexplicably ended up in this place, and I even found a cultivation technique that is perfectly suited to me!" She was overjoyed.

"Where exactly is this place? I don't even know if I can take this book with me."

Li Mingke loved it dearly. She wished she could meet its owner; she would be willing to pay any price to buy it.

Just as she was flipping through the book, she felt a soft little paw step on the back of her foot.

"Lord White Fox?" she exclaimed, picking up the small, fluffy white creature.

"Awoo~" the white fox cried out twice.

"Haha, what are you saying? I don't understand!"

The little white fox nudged her with its nose, then placed its little paws on the book.

"You know this book?" Li Mingke asked.

"Aww!"

Do you know the owner of this book?

"Aww!"

"Can I take this book with me? I'll leave you a reward."

"Aww!"

"Does that mean it's okay? If so, say it twice."

"Awooo!"

Amazing!

Li Mingke exclaimed in amazement, "It's amazing that it can actually understand!"

But then she thought about it again. The white fox is a mythical beast, so it's normal for it to understand human speech.

She took off the string of glass beads from her wrist and placed them back where the "Nonsense Mind Method" had been.

"Nothing can compare to the value of this book. If I can come again in the future, I will definitely offer something even more precious. By the way, what place is this?"

The little white fox nestled in her arms, whimpering softly.

"...Could it be that I stole the palace?"

"Aww!"

You got it right!

"Really? Did I really steal the palace?" Li Mingke was overjoyed.

"But how did I get in? And wasn't the Palace of the Thieves supposed to be protected by a restriction? How did I open it?"

She picked up the little white fox and shook it, but the little white fox ignored her.

"Not going to reply to me? Fine."

This little fox couldn't speak human language anyway, so what kind of answer could we expect it to give?

She placed the "Nonsense Mind Method" in her bosom and began to look around the room.

She had just been in a bedroom, but once she stepped out, the outside world was surprisingly large.

With its magnificent palaces and splendid landscape, it surpasses even the Li family of Pengzhou, a powerful and prestigious family that has stood for a thousand years.

She looked at each item one by one, and suddenly noticed a small jade bottle placed by the window.

Strange, why do the plum blossoms in the vase still look exactly like freshly picked ones?

She reached out and touched the plum blossom petals; they were moist and soft, clearly having been picked recently.

Could it be that someone has been living in this palace all along?

She was extremely suspicious. In the blink of an eye, she saw two cups of tea on a small table next to her. One cup was empty, and the other was half full.

She picked up the half-full glass.

It's warm!

She was horrified.

How could that be!

This palace is actually inhabited!

Where is the master of this palace? She hasn't sensed anyone being there at all in all this time!

Did they go out?

Wait a minute, there are two cups of tea on the table, so there must be two people living here, and at least one of them is a woman!

She tightened her grip on the "Nonsense Mind Method" in her arms.

Perhaps she can wait for her master; if they could meet and have a chat, that would be even better.

So she sat down at the small table, waiting for her master to return.

The fragrance of plum blossoms filled the room. Li Mingke was drowsy. The fluffy little white fox lay in her arms, its eyes half-closed and its two little paws folded together.

She didn't know how much time had passed when she heard a violent explosion.

She was about to fall asleep when she was suddenly awakened, and the little white fox in her arms was also startled.

"What's going on!"

Could it be that the master has returned?

That's quite a unique way to get home!

Before she could react, another loud noise interrupted her thoughts, and at the same time, she vaguely heard voices.

The sound gradually became clearer, and she finally heard it.

"Get out of my way, all of you! I want to see just how powerful this restriction is!"

It's the Demon Lord!

The Demon Lord is using brute force to break the seal on the Palace of Puppet Stealing!

She jolted awake and frantically shook the little white fox, crying out, "The Demon Lord is attacking! Is there any secret passage or back door that I can use to escape the Demon Lord?!"

The little white fox was so dizzy from being shaken that it opened its bewildered little eyes and let out a soft "Aww?"

What's wrong with the Demon Lord? Why are you so afraid of him? He's yours...

However, the little white fox couldn't speak, while Li Mingke jumped around frantically, searching for a way to escape the Demon Lord.

It sighed softly, then tugged at Li Mingke's trouser leg with its little paws.

Li Mingke crawled out from under a chair. "What's wrong, Lord White Fox?"

The little white fox bit her pants and pulled her out.

Do you want me to come with you?

"Woohoo~"

The little white fox ran off in one direction, looked back at her, and gestured for her to follow.

So Li Mingke followed the little white fox through a maze of twists and turns.

Suddenly, an even more violent explosion rang out, followed by the sound of something breaking, and the clear sound of Demon Lord Luan Hua's maniacal laughter.

"Oh no! The Demon Lord is coming in! Lady White Fox, we must hurry!"

The little white fox's speed noticeably increased, and she quickly followed behind.

Finally, a carved gate came into view.

Li Mingke imitated the little white fox, placing his hand on the door. A flash of white light appeared, and the door slowly opened.

"Great, we're finally out!"

In an instant, a fierce wind, mixed with snowflakes, rushed in.

Li Mingke ran a few steps and realized that the white fox had not come out with him.

"Lord White Fox...aren't you coming with me?"

The little white fox simply licked its paws and watched her from afar.

The situation is urgent, there's no time to worry about anything else!

"Then I'll take my leave! Thank you, Lord White Fox. I hope we'll meet again someday!" Li Mingke clasped his hands in a fist salute to the little white fox.

The Demon Lord's voice grew closer and closer; she could only leave with one last glance before hastily departing.

We mustn't let the Demon Lord find us; we must go find our master!

She ran into the heavy snow.

As the little white fox watched her receding figure, a tear suddenly fell from her eye.

"Awoooooo—" The white fox howled to the sky, its cries never ceasing.

"Hahahaha, I heard a fox howling! It seems the divine beast is nearby!" The Demon Lord laughed loudly. A fierce wind blew, blowing the hem of his black robes. Snowflakes, like goose feathers, pelted him, but disappeared into the air before they could reach him.

Li Mingke ran desperately, even though she couldn't tell which way was which or what the end was, she just kept running.

At the very least, stay away from the Demon Lord.
