Chapter 41 Giving her a hairband

When Li Mingke woke up the next day, her eyes were swollen. She didn't get up immediately, but instead picked up a comic book next to her and started reading. However, the book, which she usually loved no matter what, she couldn't read a single word of now.

She sighed, got out of bed, and walked to the mirror, only to find that she looked very haggard.

She washed up carefully and even applied ice to her eyes, which finally made her look a little better.

Should she go to Rui'ai Pavilion to greet her master? She hesitated, but decided to go anyway, partly out of courtesy, and partly to test her master's attitude.

When she arrived at Rui'ai Pavilion, she discovered that Immortal Venerable Jinyun was not inside.

Could it be that Master didn't come back all night?

Emerging from the narrow passage, she saw the daytime water rushing towards her.

"Sister Li!" Bai Tianshui waved and called out to her.

Li Mingke was about to greet her when he realized he had forgotten to ask her name last night.

"Sister, my name is Bai Tianshui, you can just call me Xiao Shui!" Bai Tianshui seemed to have seen through her thoughts and introduced herself directly.

"Hello, Xiaoshui, what brings you this way? Are you going to Yixiantian?" she asked.

"Yes, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since I saw you yesterday, so I brought Xiao Cai here today to apologize." Bai Tianshui whistled, and a colorful little bird flew down from the sky and landed on Bai Tianshui's shoulder.

"Where are you going, sister?" she asked.

"I...I don't know either, but I should go to the sect leader. After all, my master didn't come back all night, so I think he should be with the sect leader."

Bai Tianshui said, "It's fortunate that I came, otherwise you would have made a wasted trip, as Immortal Venerable Jinyun is not with the sect leader."

Li Mingke asked in confusion, "Then where did he go? And how did you know? Did you come from the sect leader?"

"Yes, the sect leader is my grandfather. I heard it from him. It seems that Immortal Venerable Jinyun went to an embroidery workshop overnight. He said he had a hairband that the little thief accidentally dropped yesterday, and he was going to find a buyer for it."

Li Mingke was shocked. Forgetting about Bai Tianshui's astonishing background, she had only one thought in her mind:

Master actually had to use his hair ribbon to find her!

Although she just grabbed the hairband casually, there are only a few famous embroidery workshops, and skilled embroiderers can tell whose needlework it is at a glance. Moreover, these unique items are registered to everyone who has been sold to them, so it would be too easy for Immortal Venerable Jinyun to find her!

Li Mingke's face turned deathly pale instantly. He didn't care about Bai Tianshui anymore and hurriedly ran towards Yixiantian.

She must write home immediately! She absolutely cannot let Immortal Venerable Jinyun find out!

"Sister Li, where are you going?" Bai Tianshui called after her. They were talking peacefully when she suddenly took off running, leaving Bai Tianshui completely bewildered.

Li Mingke's hands trembled as she wrote the letter, secretly cursing herself for not thinking of this yesterday, and most of all, for carelessly leaving her hairband behind. What was she thinking yesterday? Why did she tie her hair up? She could have just left it down!

But it's too late to say anything now. The most important thing is to salvage the situation before it gets too serious.

Finally, a paper crane flew out of her window.

Please, please, we must fly to the Li family as soon as possible! Also, I hope Immortal Venerable Jinyun doesn't investigate too quickly!

Everyone knew that Immortal Venerable Jinyun was angry. How could he not be furious that someone had stolen his things and managed to escape? It was practically a slap in the face for him, the Immortal Venerable! So when he returned to the Immortal Sect from outside, everyone held their breath and lowered their heads.

Daoist Immortal Venerable Fu Zhushan was having breakfast with his disciples, smacking his lips as he remarked on how delicious the soup was, when Immortal Venerable Jinyun stormed in with a furious expression.

"Jinyun? What brings you here? Have you eaten yet? Please sit down, the soup is especially delicious today!" He warmly greeted Immortal Venerable Jinyun.

The disciples standing nearby were too frightened to move. With Immortal Venerable Jinyun exuding murderous aura, who would be in the mood to eat?

"No, Senior Daodao, I've come today to borrow someone from you," Jinyun Immortal Venerable said with a smile.

His smile terrified his disciples even more.

But Dao Dao Immortal Venerable seemed oblivious, still picking his teeth, "Borrow someone? What kind of person? My disciples are all highly talented, and more importantly, filial. Tell me, which one do you want to take care of you in your old age?"

"No, I just wanted to say a few words."

"Oh, alright then, you choose!" Dao Dao Immortal Venerable waved his hand dismissively.

Jinyun Immortal Venerable's gaze swept over all the disciples, who all lowered their heads, not daring to look at him.

"Wang Jingyuan," he finally spoke.

Wang Jingyuan, who was eating a meat bun with his mouth full of oil, looked up in surprise and slowly typed: ?

"Come here," Jinyun Immortal called to him.

"Huh? Me?" Wang Jingyuan pointed to himself in surprise, his head turning around. The senior brothers and sisters around him nodded silently.

Jingyuan, best of luck!

"If the Immortal Venerable calls you, then go!" The Immortal Venerable Dao Dao shouted at him directly.

Wang Jingyuan had no choice but to step forward, even though he was hesitant.

"I wonder what business the Immortal Venerable has with me?" He went through his recent actions in his mind, and he didn't seem to have done anything wrong. Could it be that he was being blamed for the injury that happened when he took Li Mingke out to play last time?

Jinyun Immortal Venerable just looked at him without saying a word, and Daodao Immortal Venerable understood and immediately sent all the other disciples out.

"Jinyun, Jingyuan is the youngest and most talented one here. You mustn't scare him!" Dao Dao Immortal Venerable said hurriedly when he saw that Jinyun Immortal Venerable looked like he was about to eat a child.

"Senior Daodao, don't be nervous. I just have a few questions to ask."

"Immortal...Immortal Venerable, please ask." Wang Jingyuan swallowed.

He pulled a headband from his chest. "Do you remember this headband?"

Wang Jingyuan thought that Immortal Venerable Jinyun was going to ask some earth-shattering question, but it turned out to be just this?

He examined it carefully, "I don't remember it."

"Um?"

"Yes, yes, yes! I remember!"

Wang Jingyuan was absolutely terrified!

"Then tell me, when did you buy it, where did you buy it from, and who did you give it to?" Immortal Venerable Jinyun fired off a series of questions in quick succession.

“This…” Wang Jingyuan was dumbfounded. How could he possibly remember this?

You have to understand, he's a young master who spends money like water. If he sees something he likes, he can buy half a shop with a wave of his hand. Unless it's something extremely rare or precious, it won't even get his eye on it. How could he possibly remember such an ordinary headband?

"Immortal Venerable Jinyun, I truly cannot remember!" He was almost in tears.

Jinyun Immortal Venerable didn't expect him to say anything. "Then you only need to answer this one question: Which women have you given hair ribbons to?"

Wang Jingyuan: ?

How could he not know that he had given the woman a hairband?

However, upon seeing the murderous look in Jinyun Immortal's eyes, he immediately changed his words, "Immortal, as you know, because of my family's business, I often come into contact with all sorts of beauties, and I always give them things as gifts, but I don't quite remember who I gave them to or what I gave them."

"Is that so?"

"Yes, yes, most of them are young ladies from noble families. If Immortal Venerable Jinyun wants to find someone, he might as well start from this point."

Jinyun Immortal Venerable watched him silently, while Wang Jingyuan's back was covered in sweat.

"Alright, Jinyun, you've scared Jingyuan half to death. You probably won't get anything out of him if you keep asking. Besides, didn't he say he was a young lady from a noble family?" Dao Dao Immortal Venerable spoke up in time.

Jinyun Immortal Venerable remained silent, but his grip on the hair ribbon tightened.

Dao Dao Xianzun drove Wang Jingyuan out.

Now it's just him and Immortal Venerable Jinyun. "Jinyun, no matter how hard you search, your energy is limited. Why not hand this over to Fengyulou? They are professionals and they know better who Jingyuan often contacts."

Jinyun Immortal Venerable stared at the hair ribbon for a long time.

"That's all we can do..."

After Wang Jingyuan came out, he was surprised to realize how wonderful the outside world was, and how suffocating the low pressure inside was.

He didn't want to stay there a second longer and slipped back to his residence.

As he was doing the homework assigned by the Daoist Immortal Venerable, drawing talismans, he suddenly thought of:

He remembered; he had indeed given a hairband as a gift to someone, but that person wasn't a woman, but his cousin.

—Li Mingke!
