Chapter 20: Inform
Hot water with flower petals floating on it was sprinkled on her shoulders. She let the heat envelop her brows and eyes, and said lazily, "How can I hide such a big person?"
Baozhu became more and more curious: "Then where did he go?"
Wen Hao closed his eyes and said casually, "Maybe he went out to drink with his friends again."
She scared Wen Rusheng because he was helping the evildoer. As for Wen Feng, he was not involved in this matter, so she naturally would not harm innocent people.
All I can say is that God was not too cruel. He made Wen Feng stay out all night during this period, giving her the opportunity to take advantage of it.
"Girl, the water is a little cold, get up."
Wen Hao walked out of the bathtub, changed into clean underwear, and sat in front of the dressing mirror, letting Baozhu twist her hair.
The girl in the glass mirror had an indifferent expression and deep eyes. Her waist-length black hair set off her fair face, making her temperament incompatible with this cozy boudoir.
Wen Hao reached out and pressed his hand against the mirror, covering half of his face.
After many days of preparation, it all depends on the day after tomorrow.
If something went wrong, she would rather die together than let her mother and the others suffer the same fate as in her previous life.
"Girl?" Wen Hao's reaction made Baozhu feel inexplicably uneasy.
Wen Hao withdrew his hand and smiled: "It's time to go to bed."
In the blink of an eye, it was the day after tomorrow.
The weather was great that day. When I opened the window, a fresh breeze blew in, carrying the fragrance of flowers.
Mrs. Lin looked at her two daughters holding hands and felt it was a pleasure to watch.
"It's such a nice day, you shouldn't stay at home. Go out and have some fun. Do you have enough money?"
"Don't worry about these, Mom. I'm ready." Looking at her mother with a smile on her face, Wen Chan felt uncomfortable, but she didn't dare to show it on her face, let alone look in Wen Rugui's direction.
"Take good care of your sister." Lin casually reminded her, but in fact she was quite relieved about her two daughters.
The eldest daughter is steady and the second daughter is well-behaved. Others feel sorry that she didn't give birth to a son, but she doesn't feel any regret.
"Then let's go." Wen Chan bent her knees, took Wen Hao's hand and walked out.
After his two daughters left, Wen Rugui stood up.
"Master is going out?"
"Yeah." Wen Rugui didn't say much and raised his foot to leave.
"Isn't today a day off? Why are you going out so early?"
Wen Rugui's eyes were filled with impatience: "Something's going on."
Lin said angrily, "The master has been saying he's busy lately, and I haven't discussed anything with you yet."
"What's the matter?" Wen Rugui asked indifferently.
He didn't think that his biggest daily worry was how to spend money and how to dress his two daughters, and his wife had no serious matters to discuss with him.
"Then sit down and talk." Lin felt irritated for no reason.
She always felt that her husband had changed, but she couldn't put her finger on why.
Wen Rugui then sat down and said calmly, "Tell me, what's the matter."
Lin took a sip from her teacup, calming her restless spirit. "It was the proposal from Prince Jing's residence a few days ago that reminded me that Chan'er is already eighteen years old, and it's time to plan her marriage."
Two years ago, Lin discussed Wen Chan's marriage with Wen Rugui, but they had some disagreements.
Lin felt that Cheng Shu and Wen Chan were of similar age and knew each other well. If the two children were interested in each other, they might as well get married.
Wen Rugui disagreed.
He hoped to choose a good son-in-law from among the civil officials and nobles, which would be the greatest guarantee for his eldest daughter.
The two were delayed for a while due to disagreements, and then General Lin suddenly passed away due to illness, so it was delayed until now.
Wen Rugui frowned and stood up again: "I have something else to do. Let's discuss Chan'er's marriage when I get back."
"master--"
Watching Wen Rugui walk out the door without looking back, Lin took a few sips of cold tea and felt suffocated.
Wen Hao and Wen Chan went out and headed straight for the general's mansion.
When the old lady heard the servants report that the two girls had arrived, she was both happy and confused.
"Why are you here so early? Have you had breakfast?" The old lady asked with a smile, holding one of them in each hand.
Wen Chan glanced around and said, "Grandma, we have something to tell you."
Seeing her granddaughter's serious expression, the old lady raised her chin towards the servants in the room.
In the blink of an eye, all the maids and old women retreated, leaving only a trusted nanny who served closely.
"Tell me, what's the matter." Although the old lady took it seriously, she didn't think too deeply about it.
In her opinion, the biggest concern of her two young granddaughters is nothing more than their love for love.
"Grandma, have you taken the medicine prescribed by the miracle doctor?" Wen Chan asked with concern.
The old lady nodded.
"Well...what we are going to say may make you very angry--" Wen Chan was afraid that the old lady could not bear it, so she slowly laid the groundwork.
The old lady was stunned and glanced at Wen Hao.
Wen Hao nodded and said, "You will definitely be very angry. My elder sister and I are worried that you will get sick from being angry."
The old lady took a deep breath and said calmly, "Tell me, which of you two is responsible?"
Did he do something out of line with some brat?
Don’t be angry, don’t be angry. You should feel sad even if your own granddaughter beat you to death.
The bandit-like girl insisted on marrying a scholar, but in the end she had to accept it with a pinch of her nose.
"Wait a minute, let me have some tea and then you guys can talk."
The old lady took the tea handed to her by her trusted nanny and drank half a cup. She felt much calmer and said, "Speak now. Don't be afraid. No matter how big the problem is, your grandmother will support you."
Wen Chan said, "Father and Mother have often argued over the past year."
"Did the two of them have a fight?" The old lady secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Although the discord between her daughter and son-in-law makes her worried, it is inevitable that couples will quarrel, so it is not a big deal after all.
"It's much more serious than quarreling." Wen Chan added another prelude.
The old lady raised her eyebrows: "Did they do it?"
It couldn't be that Wanqing beat her son-in-law, and her two granddaughters came to ask her to stand up for their father?
Wen Chan hesitated for a moment, then finally said, "Father...has a mistress."
"What?" The old lady's face suddenly changed and she slammed the table and stood up.
"Grandma, don't be anxious!" Seeing the old lady's body swaying slightly, Wen Chan's face turned pale with fright and she hurriedly supported her arm.
The old lady sat down slowly, her eyes fixed on the two sisters: "Explain the details of the matter to Grandmother in detail."
Wen Chan glanced at Wen Hao.
“I discovered it by accident…”
After hearing Wen Hao's story, the old lady's face was filled with anger: "This beast was really blind at the beginning!"
Wen Hao reached out and grabbed her sleeve, and softly advised, "Calm down. If you get sick from this, what will happen to me and my elder sister?"
The old lady stretched out her rough hands and stroked the warm hair: "Don't worry, grandma is in good health."
Wen Hao and Wen Chan looked at each other, and their anxious hearts finally settled down a little.
The biggest shock to my grandmother was when she first learned the truth, but she felt much better afterwards.
"The mother and her two children are in Mahua Hutong, right?" The old lady stood up and picked up her auspicious cloud cane. "Let's go to Mahua Hutong with grandma!"
