Chapter 31 Take Back

Chapter 31 Take Back

When Lin Hao was led into the house by Lin's hand, he turned around and gave Lin Chan a wink.

Lin Chan came to her senses and hurriedly ordered Fang Fei: "Bring another meal to the Madam."

Fangfei quickly brought the hot meal.

It was bamboo shoot season, and one of the dishes was spring bamboo shoots stewed with pork ribs. The bamboo shoots were fresh and tender, the pork ribs were soft and tender, and the moment I lifted the lid of the pot, a burst of fresh fragrance hit me.

Lin drank two sips of spring bamboo shoots and pork ribs soup, which awakened her appetite.

For a moment, the only sound was the clinking of cups, bowls and chopsticks.

Looking at her mother eating with relish, Lin Chan didn't know whether to laugh or cry, and secretly gave Lin Hao a thumbs up.

I didn’t expect that my sister’s crying would be so effective.

No, my sister's words are more effective.

She felt like swallowing the plate just thinking about it, let alone her mother.

After Lin had eaten her fill, she felt refreshed.

"Chan'er, Ah Hao, come with me to your grandmother's place."

Lin Chan and Lin Hao looked at each other, and Lin Chan spoke first: "Mother, my second sister and I have changed our surname to Lin."

Lin rubbed her forehead and said, "I forgot for a moment. Let's go see your grandmother."

The old lady was taking a nap when she heard the maid report that Lin had arrived with two girls.

The old lady was very surprised.

Her stubborn daughter actually walked out of the room? And brought her two daughters to see her old mother?

While he was stunned, Lin had already strode in.

"Did I disturb my mother's rest?"

Looking at her spirited daughter, the old lady secretly twisted her thigh and felt the pain before she confirmed that she was not dizzy.

"It was just a little squinting." The old lady smiled with relief. "Wanqing, you finally figured it out."

Lin sat down next to the old lady and smiled bitterly, "I understood it yesterday, but I just can't get over it."

Seeing that the man was willing to put her to death in order to protect the interests of his mistress and children, what else could she not understand?

Understanding does not mean that there is no resentment or hatred.

She hated Wen Rugui and also hated herself.

She was holding this anger in her heart, which made her feel extremely depressed and discouraged.

Fortunately, Ah Hao's words woke her up.

Even for the sake of her two daughters, she must live well.

Spending her money? Bullying her daughter?

Look at her picking up the knife and chopping those bastards!

"Mother, I came here to tell you that I plan to go back to the Wen Mansion."

The old lady's eyes tightened: "What are you doing back at the Wen Mansion?"

Could it be that you still have feelings for that heartless beast?

Lin's face was stern: "I will smash the plaque on the door of 'Wen Mansion' and replace it with the plaque of our Lin Mansion."

The old lady smiled and said, "You don't have to make a trip. Shu'er has already brought people there."

Lin was stunned for a moment, then returned to normal: "Since Shu'er has gone, I won't have to make the trip any less. Mother, I lay down as soon as I got home yesterday, without even washing my face. I'm going back to my room to take a shower now."

Lin Chan and Lin Hao were ready to leave with Lin, but the old lady asked Lin Chan to stay.

"Chan'er, how did you persuade your mother?"

How did you suddenly have such an epiphany?

Lin Chan smiled and said, "This is all thanks to my second sister."

"Ahh?"

Lin Chan told Lin Hao what he had said, and the old lady clapped her hands: "Ah Hao is really good at talking."

Seeing the old lady happy, Lin Chan's mood also improved a lot.

Lin Hao sent Lin back to her residence, but did not return to her room. Instead, he took Baozhu out of the corner gate and went straight to the Wen Mansion.

The front door of the Wen Mansion was already crowded with people watching the fun.

"Girl, are we going in?" Baozhu asked in a low voice in the crowd.

Lin Hao stared at the wide-open gate and shook his head: "No, today we're just going to watch the fun."

She no longer has any relationship with the people here.

Inside the mansion, Cheng Shu faced the haggard Wen Rugui with a cold expression: "Master Wen, please hand over the house deed to me."

"House deed?" Wen Rugui's frustrated expression was replaced by vigilance. "What house deed?"

Cheng Shu sneered, "Master Wen, why are you pretending to be confused? It's the deed to this house. The old general gave this house to his daughter twenty years ago. Now that you and my aunt have broken off ties, you can't still occupy her house, right?"

Wen Rugui's face turned grim: "This house was given to me by Lord Taishan himself."

"Give it to you?" Cheng Shu shook his head. "I don't believe it. Master Wen, show me the title deed."

Wen Rugui did not move.

Cheng Shu warned coldly: "If Master Wen feels tired, I can do it myself."

Wen Rugui's face became even more gloomy, and he signaled the steward to go and get the house deed.

Soon, the steward came with a small box with a copper lock.

Unlocking the door, Wen Rugui reached for the title deed with trembling hands.

A hand came across and took the title deed away first.

Wen Rugui glared at Cheng Shu angrily.

Cheng Shu unfolded the title deed and his eyes fell on the small words "Lease by negotiation, managed by...".

As expected, the buyer's name was not written on the side owned by... Guanye, but was left blank.

This was also the customary practice for real estate transactions in the Great Zhou Dynasty. The deed would clearly state the seller's name, the middleman's name, the property's address, condition, and price. The buyer's section would either only state their surname or be left blank. The same rule also applied to signing: both the seller and the middleman would sign, but the buyer did not.

In a sense, whoever gets the title deed becomes the owner of the house.

This kind of house deed is called a white deed.

In order to solve this loophole, the government actually took a measure, which was to take the white deed to the government for filing and record, stamp it with the government seal, and turn it into a red deed.

In reality, very few of them actually register with the government, simply because the deed tax is too high and people cannot afford it.

The Lin family could naturally afford it. Perhaps General Lin did not take the house seriously and was too lazy to tinker with it after buying it, so he just gave it directly to his future son-in-law.

Wen Rugui did not lie about this. This house was not given as Lin's dowry, but was given to him directly.

The reason is simply to protect the son-in-law's lofty and awkward self-esteem.

It would always be better for my daughter if the son-in-law felt less uncomfortable.

"Mr. Wen's name is not on it." Cheng Shu slowly folded the title deed and put it in his arms.

"You!" Wen Rugui's face changed drastically.

Cheng Shu shook his head in confusion. "Master Wen, are you still blind to reality? Never mind that the house was originally bought by the Lin family. Even if it was bought by the Wen family, how can you keep it?"

Taking the title deed directly would only save trouble. If Wen Rugui insisted on not handing it over, the General's Mansion would report him to the authorities, and he would have no choice but to hand it over.

Was it given to him by the old general?

Words are not enough, but the seller and the middleman clearly stated on the title deed can be invited to testify that the house was bought by the Lin family.

"The old lady is kind enough to give Master Wen two days to pack his luggage." Cheng Shu said, and then ordered the people he brought with him, "You will stay here today. But please keep an eye on it and don't let outsiders take anything from our general's mansion."

"Yes." The servants of the general's mansion said in unison.

The sound was loud, like a heavy hammer hitting Wen Rugui's heart.
