Chapter 424 My Husband's Personal Address
Wei Rui Xuan.
Looking at the increasingly desolate courtyard due to the changing seasons, Meng Jinyao suddenly felt a little sad.
Chunliu saw that her smile had vanished just a moment ago, and she felt very nervous. The most precious person in the mansion was their mistress. Everyone doted on her and took care of her. Even a sneeze made people nervous. Her bad mood also made people nervous. How could a pregnant woman be in a bad mood?
Chunliu thought for a moment and suggested, "If Madam is feeling bored, why don't we invite an opera troupe to perform to cheer you up?"
Meng Jinyao immediately shook her head. She didn't dislike listening to opera, but it made her drowsy, and she always felt sleepy when listening to it.
Chunliu then asked, "Then shall I tell you about what has been happening in the capital recently?"
Meng Jinyao nodded listlessly: "Then let's talk. Come inside and sit down to talk slowly." After saying that, she turned and went inside.
Chunliu followed her into the room and sat down on the embroidered stool to her left. She began to rack her brains to tell her about what had happened in each family, some good, some bad, and some interesting. It was just to pass the time.
Meng Jinyao had just finished listening to who was going to marry whom, and then she turned to Chunliu: "Chunliu, do you have someone you like?"
Startled by this unexpected remark, Chunliu was taken aback. Seeing the lady looking at her earnestly, seemingly intending to play matchmaker for her, she felt very grateful and replied truthfully, "Madam, this servant does not currently have someone she loves."
Upon hearing this, Meng Jinyao nodded regretfully and then said, "If you have someone you like, just tell me, and I'll make the decision for you."
Chunliu smiled and thanked her, "This servant thanks you in advance, Madam. If I ever find someone I love, I will definitely tell you."
Meng Jinyao added, "If you want to get married, you can tell me, and I'll find you a good man and arrange for you to meet him."
"This servant thanks you for your kindness, Madam, but this servant does not want to get married yet." After saying this, Chunliu turned around and smiled, "I'm not afraid to tell you, but I want to get married when I'm twenty. Although it's a bit late, I don't want to get married too early. I want to stay a young lady for a few more years."
Meng Jinyao said, "I remember you said you were sixteen last year, so you're seventeen this year."
Chunliu nodded and said, "Indeed, Madam has a good memory."
Meng Jinyao looked at her expectantly and asked curiously, "Then what kind of husband do you like?"
Chunliu's cheeks flushed slightly as she answered in a low voice, "I like honest and simple men, but I also want them to put me first in everything. I don't think I'm stupid. It's enough if one of us is smart. I can't handle someone who's too smart, so I'd like to find someone who's honest and simple."
Meng Jinyao was surprised, not expecting that the usually clever Chunliu would want to find a husband with a simple and honest personality, so she reminded her, "Sometimes, honest people can be infuriating. You have to see if you can accept his usual way of doing things."
Chunliu nodded gently: "This servant understands."
Meng Jinyao thought of Chan'er and Yu Chuan again. Yu Chuan liked Chan'er, but she hadn't asked if Chan'er had feelings for Yu Chuan. After chatting with Chunliu for a while, she sent Chunliu away and let Chan'er in.
Chan'er was rarely summoned by the Madam alone, so when she was suddenly summoned, she was bewildered. After bowing, she asked, "Madam, what do you need me for?"
Meng Jinyao wasn't one to beat around the bush, so she went straight to the point and asked, "Chan'er, do you have someone you like?"
Chan'er was taken aback: "Why does Madam ask such a question?"
Meng Jinyao replied gently, "I just feel that you are of marriageable age and may have someone you like. If you are mutually in love, I will arrange for you to get married. If you don't have someone you like, someone has come to the Marquis for help, and the Marquis asked me to ask you what you think. If you are also interested, we will arrange for you to get married."
Chan'er was stunned, and after a long while, she asked, "Madam, who exactly came to the Marquis's door to ask for help?"
Meng Jinyao replied, "It's Yu Chuan."
Upon hearing this, Chan'er was taken aback again, then said, "Madam, when Yu Chuan returns, please have him come and tell me in person."
Meng Jinyao was now bewildered, unsure whether Chan'er had feelings for Yu Chuan or not.

Hangzhou Prefecture, post station.
After arriving in Hangzhou, Gu Jingxi stayed at the post station. He was dizzy from a busy day and was just about to wash up and go to bed when he saw Yu Chuan running towards him excitedly.
He frowned and asked, "Yu Chuan, you're not a three-year-old, why are you still walking like that?"
Yu Chuan was caught off guard by those words and immediately stopped in his tracks, nearly falling forward. After regaining his balance, he looked at his master with a resentful gaze. He used to think his master was quite gentle, but now he was something else entirely!
With the lady absent, the master was in a depressed mood and couldn't bear to see them happy.
Especially these last two days, the master has been asking frequently, "Has the lady written anything?"
Whenever he answered, "No."
The master quietly went to do other things, giving those officials a lot of trouble. Some of those officials were not clean to begin with, and had done things like embezzlement and bribery. The master did not tell those officials what he found out.
Some officials did try to subtly inquire, but the master simply smiled and praised the person's merits.
The master's smile was extremely eerie, making it impossible for anyone to feel happy. They were so fearful that they wanted to confess on their own, but they still clung to a sliver of hope and struggled a little longer.
Seeing him staring blankly at her, Gu Jingxi said with displeasure, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Yu Chuan stepped forward and presented the letter in his hand: "My lord, a letter has arrived from the madam."
Upon hearing this, Gu Jingxi's expression immediately brightened. He reached out and took the letter from Yu Chuan, saying gently, "It's fine if Madam writes, why are you in such a hurry? Aren't you afraid of falling while running so fast?"
Upon hearing this, Yu Chuan instantly felt a chill run down his spine. Was this a rather sudden change of heart? She was actually showing concern for him! But he was probably just a stubborn person; he couldn't stand being treated kindly, even if it was feigned. Sure enough, his master's few words of concern were enough to make him feel unbearable.
A moment later, Yu Chuan handed the bundle hanging on his shoulder to his master, saying, "My lord, this was sent along with the letter."
Gu Jingxi reached out and took it, saying, "I understand, you can go about your business."
After he finished speaking, he turned around with the letter and his bundle in his hand and walked briskly into the house.
Looking at his master's back, Yu Chuan knew that his master was in a good mood. When his master was in a good mood, their lives would be easier.
inside the house.
Gu Jingxi put down the bundle and looked at the letter in his hand. On the cover of the letter, in addition to the mailing address and the recipient, the words "To My Husband" were written in small, elegant calligraphy. He gently stroked the words with his fingers, a smile spreading across his face.
After a moment, Gu Jingxi opened the envelope gently, as if afraid of damaging the letter inside.
When Gu Jingxi took out the thin letter inside, he felt a moment of disappointment. It was just a letter, so there probably weren't many words. Did A Yao not miss him and have nothing to say to him?
Gu Jingxi slowly unfolded the letter. When he saw the contents, a smile returned to his face, and his heart was filled with warmth. Last time he wrote a letter to A Yao, and now A Yao had replied with a poem.
The letter read:
Full of Fragrance
I recently received a letter from my husband, and I was overjoyed. I wrote this to express my gratitude.
The sun shines brightly on the corridor, magpies chatter under the painted eaves, and a lone incense burner curls by the embroidered window. The brocade letter is still unfurled, deeply believing the sorrow of parting is long. The willows in the courtyard have lost their former beauty, the autumn wind is cold, and a light frost has fallen for several days. In the autumn sky, a line of wild geese flies, arriving at the riverside village morning or evening.
I ponder. At the moored spot, reeds reflect on the bank, dew clings to the mulberry leaves. The flowing leaves are cold on the water; remember to add layers of clothing. We still share a sliver of bright moonlight, beneath the idle clouds, a comfort to the soul. Upon returning, we'll face each other in the secluded pavilion, listening to the rain and playing the zither.
