Chapter Six: He Needs to Be Taught a Lesson
Unsurprisingly, the newlyweds covered themselves with the blankets and went to sleep.
After a long and eventful day, including such an absurd wedding, Meng Jinyao was exhausted. Even in unfamiliar surroundings with a mature man lying next to her, she fell into a peaceful sleep.

As dawn broke through the clouds, dispelling the darkness, Meng Jinyao slowly awoke. Upon opening her eyes, she was met with unfamiliar curtains. Her expression tightened, but then she belatedly remembered what had happened yesterday and instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
She turned her head to look at the outside of the bed; her newlywed husband's eyes were closed, and he had not yet woken up.
Gu Jingxi is truly handsome, with exquisite eyebrows and a face like jade. He is the most outstanding in appearance among the Gu family. Meng Jinyao knew what he was asking, so she shrugged casually and said frankly, "Husband, don't you think you are the best choice? Neither of your two nephews can protect me. Your son ran away on his wedding day. What good would it do me to marry him? You are the head of the family and have the most noble status. Marrying you would make me a marquis. Who could bully me? Even your son would have to call me mother and pay his respects. I would have such a good eldest son after marrying into the family. Isn't that great?"
Gu Jingxi was taken aback, not expecting her to be so frank. As for the last sentence, she was definitely being sarcastic; that wasn't a good eldest son, but a rebellious child with no manners or sense of responsibility. Indeed, being a cousin's wife or sister-in-law is not as good as being a mother; as an elder, there are so many things one can do.
Seeing the slight upturn of her lips and the glint of cunning in her eyes, Gu Jingxi finally saw some of the liveliness a young girl should have. She smiled with interest and said, "Since Xiuming was adopted, he has not been raised by his mother and has become unruly. I hope you will take good care of him in educating him in the future."
Meng Jinyao asked in surprise, "Isn't my husband afraid that I will bully him because of my status as an elder?"
Gu Jingxi said nonchalantly, "He needs to be taught a lesson. Madam can handle it as she sees fit."
Meng Jinyao was stunned after hearing this. Wasn't Gu Jingxi afraid that she was vicious and would get rid of Gu Xiuming? Or was it because Gu Xiuming wasn't his biological son that he didn't care about him much?
