Chapter 161 The Land of Final Departure

For Xiao Nanhui, this was not a difficult task, because she had walked out in the dark just like this an hour ago.

After walking ten miles, she finally entered the mountain gate.

The sun slowly rose, its golden light trickling down from the mountaintop to the mountainside, dividing the mountain into two parts: one cold and one warm. Inside the mountain gate lay a barren, muddy field. Within the mud lay a hidden path paved with white stones. As long as you stepped on the stones, your shoes wouldn't get dirty.

After passing through the desolate mud and turning several steep valleys, the scene in front of me suddenly changed.

The entire valley was covered with tender yellow grass, and the exposed white stone mountain was covered with strange pines and cypresses. There was even a hot spring gushing out between the rock walls. Next to the spring was a pear tree shrouded in mist, and the tree was dotted with blooming white flowers, as if snow had fallen in the first month of the year.

It's really strange. It's already July, but there are still pear blossoms here.

As she was thinking this, she raised her eyes and saw the man's figure.

He was still wearing the undershirt she had worn when she left. The thin, transparent fabric fluttered in the wind on his body, like the flags covering the statues in a temple.

She was stunned for a moment, then happily raised her right hand and waved to him, then raised her other hand and shook the wine cup in her hand.

He heard her voice, turned around and looked at her, and suddenly quickened his pace.

A gust of wind blew by, dispelling the lingering mist for a moment, and the falling pear blossoms fluttered like snow. She couldn't take her eyes off him and just stared at him. When she reacted, he was already in front of her.

"You finally woke up. Why aren't you even wearing shoes..."

She was halfway through her words when he pulled her into his arms.

He was wearing very little, and the ramie shirt she was wearing was also very thin. The scorching heat quickly transferred to her skin through his arms, like a wildfire that spread out of control.

"I thought you were gone."

She blinked, not knowing what to say. After a while, she raised her hand and gently patted his back.

“Isn’t this coming back?”

After just a few pats, his arms tightened.

"Don't fool me, I'm not a child anymore."

It's clear that he's just a child saying this.

She was a little amused and helpless, and gently put some distance between herself and him.

He kept his head down, his loose hair covering some of his expression, and the rest flickered in the semi-darkness, making it impossible to tell whether it was loneliness or helplessness.

She must have seen it wrong. How could such an expression appear on his face?

Xiao Nanhui reached out and pushed the messy hair away from his face.

"I'm not leaving. I promised you."

He didn't say anything, his trembling eyelashes lightly brushed against her fingertips, with a hint of imperceptible fragility.

She had walked this long with him, and would continue walking the rest of the way together. She would not leave him. But how, how could she make him believe it?

She thought about it, put her arms around his neck and slowly moved closer.

Their noses touched softly, and she finally saw the last trace of haze dissipate from those eyes as she wished.

Even though separation is the fate of this place, she is willing to believe that it often only takes a gentle kiss to shatter fate.
