Chapter 51 Blood Marriage

The man in question is a typical example of this type. He likely started out as a bandit and eventually worked for the Sun family. There are many other cavalrymen like him nearby. Most of them don't pledge allegiance to a single person, but rather oscillate between various factions, leaning towards whichever side holds the upper hand. The Sun and Bai families are likely comprised of a significant portion of this group. If this is the case, dismantling them isn't entirely impossible.

After some thought, Xiao Nanhui looked up again and saw that the people in front of her had already passed the test one by one. It would soon be her turn, so she quickly lowered her head. She knew that she was much taller than the others, and her gait was different from that of those who didn't practice martial arts. It was difficult for ordinary people to notice, but those with some martial arts skills and a keen eye could easily see it. If she walked straight ahead like this, she would probably be picked on.

Somehow, the first person that popped into her mind was that guy.

When they first met that night at the Yeyu Inn, he was hunched over, looking sickly, presumably to hide his stature and avoid conspicuousness. As she thought about it, she hunched her neck, slumped her shoulders, and took smaller steps, moving forward one tiny step at a time.

Finally, it was her turn. She felt a gaze pause above her head for a moment, and the surroundings fell silent. After a moment, the cold voice rang out again: "You, raise your head."

Xiao Nanhui's heart was pounding. He tried his best to look ashamed and raised his head timidly.

She had been in Jizhou for more than a month, and her skin had become darker due to being exposed to the wind and rain all day long. Before leaving, she asked the manager for half a bowl of ginger juice and some kudzu root powder to paste on her face, making her originally bold eyebrows and eyes look less lively. Then she wrapped her face with the sweat towel, and at first glance, she looked no different from the village girl in the remote village.

The man on the camel glanced at her with an impudent look, then suddenly smiled and said to the person next to him, "Look at this."

The four or five people nearby all looked over at the same time, and were all taken aback involuntarily. Then they curled their lips in a strange manner and said, "It does look a bit like him."

Who does he look like? What's so funny?

Xiao Nanhui's heart was itching, but she tried to keep a silly look on her face. Finally, the man waved his hand, signaling her to move over.

She breathed a sigh of relief and took small steps to the side.

After counting four or five more people, all the women and maids in the wedding procession had been accounted for. Xiao Nanhui hid behind the camel's butt and raised one eye to look at Wu Xiaoliu in the opposite team. He seemed to be secretly looking at him, with a somewhat uneasy look in his eyes.

The man who had spoken earlier wiped his nose and said nothing. He just winked at his followers, and more than a dozen people got off the camels and walked towards the rest of the wedding procession.

Xiao Nanhui felt a chill in his heart.

This isn't right. They're trying to...

Puff, a muffled sound.

The ceremonial officer at the front of the wedding procession fell down holding his neck. The scream was stuck in his throat, and only a broken hissing sound came out.

More than ten riders lifted their cloaks and drew their scimitars from their waists. The scorching afternoon sun shone on the tips of the blades, emitting a bright white light.

Only female relatives were left, no males.

It's really the behavior of a bandit.

The rest of the bride's escort finally reacted, screaming and fleeing in all directions. Aside from the four sedan bearers, the rest were teenagers, barely grown children, without even a single piece of self-defense weapon. They were killed in the blink of an eye. The procession, numbering dozens, was decimated in the blink of an eye, like melons and vegetables being chopped apart.

Xiao Nanhui's body tensed like a bow. Everyone around her was absorbed in the carnage, and no one noticed her for a moment. Her fists clenched tightly, but ultimately, she didn't move an inch. She might be the only one present who could save those people, but she couldn't. She was a natural soldier, and she had things to do.

Seeing those in the front row fall one after another, Wu Xiaoliu, standing at the back of the group, barely managed a moment's respite before panicking and scrambling into the sedan chair carrying the bride. Finally, the last male member of the Tian family fell. The leading rider slashed at the sedan chair shaft, slicing off a chunk of the bowl-thick wood, sending the entire sedan trembling.

"The boy inside, if you know what's best for you, come out now, lest the sedan be stained with blood."

The red curtain of the sedan chair trembled, as if the person inside was trembling with fear, but there was still no sound.

Seeing this, the leader sneered, suddenly raised one leg, and then slammed it hard on the sedan chair. The sedan chair tilted forward in an instant. Two screams were heard from inside the sedan chair. The next second, Wu Xiaoliu and Miss Tian Weiler of the Tian family, who was dressed in wedding clothes, rolled out from the sedan chair door.

Tian Wei'er landed on the sand, rolling in the dust, her hairpins scattered, looking quite disheveled. Wu Xiaoliu wasn't much better off, his head twisted as he looked up. The gleaming scimitar, still stained with the last unfortunate man's blood, hung at his neck, a fishy stench wafting in his face.

This is a double-edged beheading knife. As long as the opponent turns his wrist, his head will fall to the ground like a ripe persimmon.

The squeaking sound of the man holding the knife's knuckles reached his eardrums, and Wu Xiaoliu closed his eyes in despair.

"Master! Master, spare my life!"

A hoarse, raspy scream came from behind, followed by a powerful force. The scimitar on Wu Xiaoliu's neck grazed his chin, leaving a bloody mark.

The would-be attacker looked down and saw a pair of bony, powerful hands tightly grasping his thighs. He was momentarily stunned. Besides him, everyone else at the scene was also stunned. No one in the camel caravan noticed how the village girl had so quickly run to the sedan chair.
