Wu Xiaoliu drank his fill of water and glanced doubtfully at the woman beside him. "You sound very reasonable, but you look tall and strong, like a tigress, and you don't look like someone who has experienced starvation."
Xiao Nanhui endured the harsh words until veins popped on his forehead: "Then I see you are so plump, you don't look like someone who has been hungry."
Wu Xiaoliu said seriously, "I'm just puffy and have been like this since I was a kid. My family used to count the millet grains before eating them. One time, I secretly ate some and put some shells in to make up the number. When I was caught, I got beaten up and nearly lost my life."
Are you trying to compete with her in misery? Xiao Nanhui sneered.
"You still have millet at home? I didn't even have a rice jar at home. My rice jar was like the trough where merchants coming into town tied their horses. When I was starving, I had to fight with the animals for food. Sometimes, when the merchants had money and the trough was filled with oats, I would be happy for days. Thinking about it now, it's really funny and pathetic."
Wu Xiaoliu stared at her blankly for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said.
"You win."
The yard fell silent again, with only the sounds of chewing remaining.
After a long time, Xiao Nanhui finally filled his stomach, lay down on the stone table, looked up at the slightly white sky, and suddenly asked.
"Wu Xiaoliu, are you a native of Suyan?"
Wu Xiaoliu hummed, which was considered as his agreement.
"Let me ask you, have you ever heard of any assassin organizations or bizarre murders in this area?"
"How bizarre is it?"
Xiao Nanhui tried to organize his words: "The people in this organization...all look the same. Well, not exactly the same, but they all look like they've been disfigured. And, they use flying wires to kill people."
This time, Wu Xiaoliu fell silent.
She waited for a while but heard no response. Turning around, she saw that the fat man had already slumped over the stone table and was snoring.
She was really fascinated by the Feng Shui of Yanxi and even wanted to ask a servant about the affairs of the martial arts world.
After lying down for a while, she simply got up and walked into the house.
There was still some time before dawn, so she decided to borrow Miss Tian's soft couch to rest and recuperate.
Hearing the footsteps behind him entering the house, the door creaked shut and the house became quiet again, Wu Xiaoliu's snoring stopped.
He opened his eyes, climbed up from the stone table, wiped the cake crumbs on his mouth, and his face showed a bit of struggle and confusion.
