Chapter 11 Strange Objects

Chapter 11 Strange Objects

After handing Rokudo Mukuro over to Gin to take to Japan, Jingyuan stayed in the hotel and rarely went out. He lived a leisurely life, waking up every day to drink tea, read books, and take walks. Occasionally, he could chat with Byakuran for a few words, but most of the time, he was still reading.

In the previous world, he collected many books to investigate information about that world, including works by literary giants from various countries.

Even though the literary giants of this world have abandoned literature for martial arts, Jing Yuan felt that they were still beings from another world, and would inevitably have some similarities. Moreover, Jing Yuan also felt that these literary giants were exceptionally talented, and even though there were significant cultural differences between them, it did not prevent Jing Yuan from enjoying their works immensely.

Besides their works, Jingyuan also looked at their profiles and then laughed so hard he rolled around on the bed.

This also led to Jingyuan always remembering the literary version of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, where he frantically wrote to pay off his gambling debts, whenever he saw him.

Fyodor looked helplessly at Jing Yuan sitting opposite him and said, "How long are you going to keep laughing?"

“I’m sorry, but…” Jing Yuan’s gaze swept over Fyodor and Gogol, then he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.

It was his fault. He knew perfectly well that the martial arts version of the literary giant here was not the same person as the serious version from the previous world. He shouldn't have equated the two worlds. But it was really funny!

After a while, Jingyuan finally recovered.

"My apologies." Jing Yuan sincerely apologized to Fyodor and Gogol.

He's really getting more and more lax. He used to be able to read all sorts of ridiculous novels like the Five Heroes of the Clouds having kids and running away with their babies or the Seven Heavenly Generals of the Emperor's Bow falling in love with me without batting an eye. But now he just laughs nonstop when he sees a clown version of Gogol and a sickly beauty version of Fyodor. It seems he really needs to find that feeling he had when he was a general.

Fyodor picked up his teacup and took a sip: "It seems Mr. Jingyuan already has some understanding of our situation."

“I don’t actually know much more than you do. Ilya just told me that you might have encountered something strange.” Jing Yuan glanced at Gogol, who was expressionlessly fiddling with his top hat. “Would you mind explaining the situation in detail?”

“Of course,” Fyodor said with a smile.

Actually, Jingyuan hadn't planned to go to Russia so soon; he wanted to stay in Italy for a while. However, Gin called him directly, forcing him to leave immediately.

“There’s a problem on the Russian side,” GIN said.

Jing Yuan blinked, quite puzzled as to what this had to do with him.

“I remember you told me before that there’s something called a ‘strange object’,” GIN said.

"Hmm~"

“I suspect Fyodor and the others have encountered something extraordinary,” Gin said. “Are you free to go there right now?”

“Of course,” Jing Yuan said with a smile. “I don’t have anything to pack.”

“Okay, someone will pick you up in ten minutes.” GIN added at the end, “I’ve already prepared a place for you to stay in Russia, and you don’t need to worry about daily necessities.”

What a thoughtful and helpful teammate! And their initiative is also incredibly strong.

From the moment the phone call started, in just thirty minutes, Jingyuan had already boarded a plane bound for Russia.

The person who picked him up was a young man who was balding prematurely. He had a tuft of hair on his head and was fat, but he didn't look honest or kind at all. Instead, he looked sleazy.

Jing Yuan didn't pay much attention to him until he heard Gogol tell him that the sleazy guy's name was Pushkin.

Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin? The Pushkin known as the "Sun of Russia"?!

Seeing Jing Yuan's incredulous expression, Gogol wanted to say that when he saw his good friend Pushkin instantly turn into a fat, ugly, and lewd man, he was even more shocked than he was.

“Not only Pushkin, but Gogol and I also started to show abnormalities one after another,” Fyodor said.

His once healthy body rapidly weakened, and Gogol's mental state began to deteriorate, with him occasionally going insane, much like the Joker in Gotham City next door.

But Russia is not America; it is not as free. If Gogol's mental problems cannot be completely resolved, the higher-ups will have to consider extreme measures. After all, the country is not without means to suppress those with supernatural abilities.

“Gogol is very capable. Losing him would not be good for Russia.” Fyodor poked at the small cake in front of him with his delicate fork, his expression slightly grave. “Most importantly, it’s Pushkin.”

Jing Yuan followed his gaze to the foolish man in the courtyard.

“At first it was just a change in appearance, but now his mind and abilities are completely different from before.” Gogol put his top hat on, an exaggerated smile unconsciously curving his lips, his eyes turning crazed. “I’m about to kill him!”

“That’s how it is.” Fyodor sighed and said to Jing Yuan, “Although I seem more normal now, there’s always a voice in my head telling me to kill all the superpowered people in the world.”

Jing Yuan pondered for a moment, then asked, "Besides you few, who else has been affected?"

“And there’s Ivan Andreyevich Krylov, who’s been forced into hibernation,” Fyodor said.

He didn't want to mention how much embarrassment he had made in trying to avoid this newly minted fanatic; he only hoped that the person Ilya recommended could resolve their abnormalities as soon as possible.

"I understand your situation. Don't worry, there's always a solution," Jing Yuan reassured you. "Have any of you been in contact with anything recently?"

Fyodor shook his head: "None of us had seen each other in the six months before the anomaly occurred. The reason we got together was because we heard that there was a book in Yokohama that could grant all wishes."

Although they are all people with special abilities, it doesn't mean they are together 24 hours a day. In fact, they often don't even see each other.

Fyodor is a given; he's young and still needs to go to school. Pushkin, as the leader of the Russian superpowered individuals, is extremely busy. Gogol isn't doing much better; he's either dealing with the British clock tower attendants or exchanging barbs with the Americans. As for Ivan, because his superpower is related to rocks and sand, the higher-ups sent him to Siberia to deal with land issues.

It was precisely because they rarely met that they suddenly learned about a great treasure in Yokohama that could rewrite the entire world. They became suspicious and decided to get together to discuss what was going on. However, one after another, something unusual happened.

Pushkin not only lost his good looks but also his intellect; Gogol lost his normal mental state and sense of style; and Fyodor transformed into a sickly beauty and gained a fanatical follower named Ivan.

What kind of situation is this?

Because these individuals were all prominent figures in Russia, the area surrounding Pushkin was immediately sealed off the moment he exhibited unusual behavior. To resolve the issue, the higher-ups consulted experts in various fields, but none could provide a definitive answer.

Left with no other option, Tolstoy sought out Ilya, who had spent many years traveling and witnessed many grand scenes, to see if he could offer a solution.

Upon hearing that the anomaly caused by Pushkin and his companions was not due to any known force, Gin immediately recalled Jingyuan's words about the existence of various strange objects in the universe. He felt that Jingyuan was very experienced in dealing with such matters, so he quickly sent Jingyuan to Russia.

Since his friends trusted him so much, Jing Yuan naturally wouldn't let them down. So, he quickly uncovered the strange object that had almost caused the Russian sun to fall.

A note from the author:

----------------------

Ilya – Gin's real name (personal interpretation)

The Bungo Stray Dogs adaptation differs greatly from the original manga. When I saw that Yokohama wasn't even as big as my local county, I couldn't imagine all the world's superpowered individuals crowding into Yokohama _(:з」∠)_

Yokohama at 437.78 is so small! It's so small!
