Happy Wedding

Happy Wedding

Half a month is not enough time for newlyweds.

Besides Chen Xiaojing, the bridesmaids who received the news arrived in B City one after another. She went to the airport several times in the past few days to pick them up and take them to the hotel.

Zhou Chenjin took a few days off intermittently. After taking care of everything that needed to be personally overseen by the bride, all that was left was to choose a wedding dress.

"Hmm... one set of wedding dress for going out... one set of wedding dress for welcoming guests... one set of main wedding dress... one set of toasting dress..." Chen Xiaojing explained carefully and meticulously, "Is it right to buy Chinese style wedding dress for going out and toasting dress?"

Zhou Chenjin, in the passenger seat, nodded: "That's right."

“Okay, the bridesmaid dress shop should have matching ones.” Chen Xiaojing estimated the time. “Why don’t you take a nap first? You’ve been busy these past two days, and it’ll be another half hour before we get there.”

"It's so congested." Zhou Chenjin opened the navigation app, and the overpass was a sea of red. "Alright, you've had a tough time too. I'll pick out some souvenirs for you when I get back."

"What good stuff?"

"Good things should be kept secret, of course." Zhou Chenjin smiled and opened her phone to start choosing. "One for the other bridesmaids, but you get a special one."

Chen Xiaojing: "Oh————"

"The passenger should have sunglasses. Could you get them for me? The sun is so bright I can't see clearly without them." Chen Xiaojing reached out to take the sunglasses. "With the traffic jam like this, I can easily change into a new pair."

"You've only been driving this car for a short time, how come it's already so well-equipped?" Zhou Chenjin opened the glove compartment in front of the passenger seat. "It seems that buying this car back then was a good idea. You and Huanian can both get the hang of it very quickly."

Chen Xiaojing put on sunglasses: "I was just looking at them before I left. I wanted to buy a Xiaomi SU7. I really like the design of that car. It's amazing."

Traffic began to move, and Chen Xiaojing lightly pressed the accelerator, following the navigation's instructions, and exited the elevated road at the nearest exit: "The ground level is still less congested." The drive was smooth, and they soon arrived at the wedding dress shop.

"Hello, distinguished guests. Do you have an appointment?"

"Yes, Zhou Chenjin."

"Okay, please come in with me."

A hostess in a black suit led the two into the bridal shop: "Gentlemen... which one is the bride?"

Zhou Chenjin raised her hand: "Take her to try on bridesmaid dresses, she likes them."

"Understood." Soon another female shop assistant led Chen Xiaojing to choose a bridesmaid dress. "This way, please."

It was indeed a high-end bridal shop; a wide variety of wedding dresses were displayed on racks, each with a voluminous skirt that shimmered like a flower.

No girl has never thought about wearing a wedding dress.

Zhou Chenjin was amazed by the dazzling array of goods: "Could you recommend some for me? I really don't know what to choose from so many."

She casually found a chair and sat down. The shop assistant looked Zhou Chenjin up and down and helped her choose a suitable wedding dress.

"Perhaps Miss Zhou likes this one." One after another, pure white wedding dresses were taken down and displayed in front of her.

"What about this set..."

"This set..."

...

"Alright, this is the set." Zhou Chenjin stood up. "Go get my size, and all the accessories I want."

The shop assistants acted swiftly and decisively according to Zhou Chenjin's plan—this white wedding dress was quite expensive, and if it could be sold, they would all receive a high commission.

"How is it? Does it look good?"

Chen Xiaojing, dressed in a bridesmaid dress of the same color, walked around behind her and said, "You have good taste, this one really looks good."

"You look good in this too."

"I just picked out a Chinese-style dress, it's so beautiful. You can wear the Xiuhe dress for the toast, and the Xiapei dress for going out."

"Sure, I'll go check out the Chinese style after I try this one on."

She stepped into the fitting room, and the shop assistant went in to help. Chen Xiaojing sat on the sofa, waiting for the moment the curtain would be drawn back—"Are you Miss Chen?"

"Yes, it's me. What's wrong?"

"The corsage that Miss Zhou Chenjin ordered for you is ready and we're bringing it to you now." The young shop assistant brought over a beautiful corsage with the words "Eldest Daughter" printed on the ribbon.

"Oh, thank you." Chen Xiaojing was touched and accepted the corsage. "That's fine with me."

The curtain was suddenly pulled open, startling Chen Xiaojing. Before she could calm down, she was stunned by Zhou Chenjin, who was standing on the round platform trying on wedding dresses—"Holy crap, she's so beautiful."

"Really? I thought I wouldn't suit off-the-shoulder tops."

“How could this be… This wedding dress didn’t look that pretty originally, but it looks amazing on you.” Chen Xiaojing stepped forward and smoothed out the wrinkles on Zhou Chenjin’s clothes. “Indeed, a bride-to-be always has a unique charm.”

Zhou Chenjin teased her, "Want to get married? Go tell Ren Yin, don't think I don't know you allowed him to move into the master bedroom after his eyes got better a few days ago..."

How did you know?

"That's the secret..." Zhou Chenjin added with a grin, "I think that young man is quite interesting."

Chen Xiaojing: "Isn't this a special preparation for being your bridesmaid?"

Wow.

The two chatted and laughed. Zhou Chenjin handed a bank card to the shop assistant with her hands behind her back. The assistant wisely didn't interrupt their conversation and packed up all the clothes and accessories.

At 5 a.m. on the wedding day, Chen Xiaojing arrived at Zhou Chenjin's apartment with the wedding team. The other girls arrived later and busied themselves helping the bride with the ceremony.

At seven o'clock, the bride's makeup and hair were finished. Zhou Chenjin sat on the bed, which had been fitted with a four-piece bedding set in advance. The red and gold colors complemented each other and were quite festive. The bridesmaids racked their brains trying to figure out how to hide the wedding shoes. They tried everything, from climbing to crawling on the ground to hiding them. In the end, they decided to just close their eyes and stuff them into a closet.

At eight o'clock, the groom's motorcade arrived at the apartment building. A group of handsome men in tuxedos followed Fu Huanian upstairs, making quite a commotion. Chen Xiaojing, who was standing by the window looking down, saw everything. "They really didn't invite Ren Yin." She was a little surprised. "I thought they were quite close."

“He’s the officiant, okay? Why is he the best man?” Zhou Chenjin replied, sitting on the bed.

"Wow, the officiant is amazing!"

"They're here, Xiaojing. Don't let them bribe you with small favors. You need to keep the door closed." Zhou Chenjin was reminding her when the knocking sound came from the other side.

"Red envelopes, red envelopes!" the bridesmaids called out with smiles towards the door. "No red envelopes, no door opening!"

Soon, several bulging red envelopes were slipped under the door, each with the name of one of the bridesmaids written on it. After distributing them, Chen Xiaojing realized she was the only one without one and angrily shouted towards the door, "Fu Huanian, if you don't give me a red envelope, I won't let you take the bride away!"

"I checked your WeChat." Fu Huanian's voice came from outside.

Chen Xiaojing opened WeChat with a suspicious look: "Holy crap, may you have a long and happy marriage, and may your journey be smooth sailing." She opened the door without hesitation, "Come on, Mr. Fu, the wedding shoes are in the closet."

...

While Fu Huanian was rummaging through the cabinet, Zhou Chenjin pulled her close and whispered in her ear, "What did he give you that made you betray the organization at lightning speed?"

"My idol has a super small seat in the first row of the inner circle, and the opportunity to take a 1-on-1 photo, shake hands, meet and chat."

Oh, that's certainly worth betraying at lightning speed.

Fireworks burst in the air, and the bride and groom, bathed in blessings, boarded their wedding car.

"Why are you driving, Chen Xiaojing?" Fu Huanian was surprised by the person in the driver's seat as soon as he got into the lead car. "The bridesmaid's car is in the back."

She pointed to the "eldest daughter" badge on her chest: "My daughter's car is naturally for me to drive myself and protect her."

"Happy marriage, Manager Zhou!"

She opened the roof, stepped on the gas, the wind rushed past their ears, the scent of nature filled the car, and the gentle sunlight shone on their faces.

"Don't cry at the ceremony tonight," Zhou Chenjin teased her. "I don't have time to comfort you."

"Who would cry? They're already twenty-four or twenty-five years old."
