Returning to my hometown
Chen Xiaojing was discharged from the hospital quickly.
It was just a superficial injury, and the alcohol poisoning was almost completely relieved after a few days of IV fluids.
After Yu Yan was transferred to a regular ward, Fan Rong became his attending physician. Every day, Fan Rong would bring him a large pile of letters written to him by fans from the security room. After reading them, Fan Rong would tie them together with rubber bands and pile them up into a small hill.
"These were all sent by your fans?"
Before leaving, Chen Xiaojing planned to tell Yu Yan, but she was startled by the pile of letters as soon as she entered: "Why didn't I realize you were so popular before?"
Yu Yan lay half-reclined on the hospital bed, glancing at Chen Xiaojing whose hand was still not functioning properly. She turned to the side and got her a plate of fruit slices: "I guess it's because my fans are all young girls, so it gives the impression that they only praise my looks."
It has to be said that they are very good at picking people. They thought that if Yu Yan died, these young girls would be sad for a few days at most. Then they would introduce a few young men who looked similar, and the girls would soon forget about him.
But it's not that simple.
In conjunction with the online marketing campaign spearheaded by Chen Jin last week, the phrase "attempted torture and murder" has been trending high on Weibo for quite some time. The brave and intelligent girls have been putting pressure on the highest levels of government by writing letters, making phone calls, and other means, forcing them to issue a credible report.
"It's not your fault that you're handsome." Chen Xiaojing took the fruit cutter. "Thank you for the fruit cutter. It makes eating much easier now."
Yu Yan, still weak from recovering from serious injuries, said, "Is there something you want to talk to me about? My mother isn't here right now, so just tell me."
Chen Xiaojing spoke up: "I just wanted to ask about your plans after you recover. You weren't feeling well when I asked you in the ICU. If you plan to continue in the entertainment industry, I have a few good scripts. If not, I can give you the contact information of a senior executive at Huawei."
"Forget it. The entertainment industry is really hard to break into."
He said with regret, "I'll issue a statement about retiring from the industry when I'm feeling better. I'll handle things with HW personally, so don't worry."
Chen Xiaojing nodded: "Then I wish you a safe and smooth journey."
Thank you.
After bidding a temporary farewell to Yu Yan, she returned to her hospital room, where Zhang Renyin had already packed her things: "Going home?"
"Um."
She, as a writer, didn't need to get involved in what happened next.
Zhang Renyin was driving, and Chen Xiaojing was sitting in the passenger seat looking out the window: "Renyin, let's find a time to have a wedding."
The wedding was originally scheduled for a few days ago, but because of her injury, many things were delayed.
"good."
He held his lover's hand tightly, being very careful not to touch her fingertips.
When they got back to their doorstep, Chen Xiaojing told him to go back and pack up first, while she knocked on Zhou Chenjin's door.
"Xiaojing, you're here. Come on in." Zhou Chenjin had been busy for a while and only recently had time to rest and catch up on sleep. Chen Xiaojing could tell she had just woken up from her pajamas.
Zhou Chenjin pulled her to sit on the sofa: "I was planning to come find you even if you hadn't come. We received invitations to a class reunion from our high school. They're physical invitations, and they're quite formal. We both have them."
Chen Xiaojing took it and examined it: "It's good to go back to our hometown. We haven't been back for a long time."
Their parents have been traveling the world together for several years now.
"The tickets are booked." Fu Huanian came out of the bedroom. "You two should go back and take a look."
Chen Xiaojing took her invitation and returned to her room. Zhang Renyin, who was almost ready, said, "Xiaojing, the wedding date..."
"About a month later. I'm going back to H City with Ajin soon. We're having a high school reunion, and we haven't been back in a long time, so we'll take a trip."
"Okay. I'll take care of the wedding arrangements."
"Okay." She believed that Zhang Renyin would put her first in everything. "I'll do the part that the bride has to do when I get back."
When their plane landed, they saw a strange welcome sign.
Many of their classmates chose to develop their careers in City B back then. I ran into several of them on the plane just now. A large group of them came out, and with that welcome sign, some passersby looked at them like they were little bean curd.
The sign for picking up passengers had a sentence printed on it.
"No matter how far you go, remember that Z High School will always be your home."
