Chapter Forty-Four: Midnight Snack

Having prepared its defenses, Yibai timidly asked its host, who was still lost in thought and enjoying the fragrance of flowers:

"Host, do you like barbecue?"

Um?

She could tell at a glance that the 100 million figure was another opportunity to send out tasks while she was in a good mood.

As usual, I opened the panel:

[Task 5: Run a small late-night snack stall, mainly offering barbecue and crayfish, for ten days, selling 3,000 servings.]

Tao Zhizhi rubbed her forehead, speechless and choked with emotion. She closed her eyes and said helplessly:

"One hundred million? You're asking me to do it all morning, noon, night, and even midnight snacks! Can't I just focus on one thing?!"

One hundred million chuckled.

"Host, food is diverse, and you'll get bored if you only cook one kind of food all the time."

Really? →_→

The electronic eye, with its 100 million followers, rolled its eyes. In any case, it would never admit that it had become addicted to watching mukbang videos and brought forward its midnight snack task.

She had no choice but to postpone her study schedule to tomorrow; she couldn't let her good mood today be ruined.

Tao Zhizhi found two vases, humming a little tune as she trimmed the flower branches, placing one in her room and the other in the living room to add a touch of romance to her life.

——

Shimizu Airport

At the exit, there was a woman wearing a tight-fitting sleeveless top, which slightly revealed her fair waist and the visible abs. She wore slightly flared jeans and had silver headphones around her neck. Her golden hair was casually draped over her chest, making her look free and unrestrained.

Her bright face couldn't hide her joy. Dragging her large and small bags of luggage, she was so excited she wanted to shout it from the airport floor.

"I'm back!"

But she wouldn't do that, because her pride is more important than anything else.

Zhiyun strode confidently toward the black car that was picking her up at the airport, carefully examining the vehicle.

Suddenly a voice rang out beside her:

"Miss Zhiyun, the boss's car is over here."

The driver saw his wife, whom he hadn't seen in a long time, standing in front of other cars, deep in thought. He quickly ran over to stop her from opening the car door.

He opened his right hand, gesturing for Zhiyun to look at the correct license plate.

"Haha, it's been so long since you've been back to China, you've even changed your car, haven't you, Uncle Fu?!"

Uncle Fu smiled and sighed, looking at the car that had persevered for ten years, and helplessly echoed:

"Several cars have been changed over the years, so it's normal that you don't recognize it at first glance."

Uncle Fu took the luggage from Zhiyun's back, raised his hand, and froze.

"Uncle Fu, let me do it, there's a lot of stuff."

Uncle Fu braced himself on one hand to support his waist, stretched his arm, and waved his hand without hesitation:

“How could Uncle Fu not be able to lift it? He was just not prepared. Miss, you can watch.”

"Okay, then, please be careful not to strain your back."

Fu Bo's face turned red. He heard a cracking sound from his body and stopped abruptly.

Youyou put down the suitcase and asked the staff next to her to help carry it into the trunk.

He gave an awkward smile:

"Uncle Fu is getting old, please forgive him, Miss."

Zhiyun didn't speak; she was afraid that she would laugh if she made a sound.

"Miss, please get in the car. Mr. Zhi has been waiting for you at home for a long time."

"Um--"

After getting on the bus, Zhiyun sat dignifiedly for a while, looking out the window at the scenery rushing by, which carried a familiar feeling for her.

Her nose tingled with emotion: "[It's been so long, my hometown!]"

She recalled her seven years of study in D country and longed for the clear water in her memory, and the journey home finally felt real.

After she finished her reflection, a handsome and upright figure appeared in her mind. She sniffed, her throat slightly dry, and asked Uncle Fu:

"Uncle Fu, how is Brother Fu now?"

Uncle Fu has been driving for Zhiyun's family for over ten years. While he may not know everything about Zhiyun's life from childhood to adulthood, he is quite familiar with her social life and friendships. After a moment's thought, he answered easily:

"Miss, are you asking about Young Master Fu?"

"He's supposedly about to take over Tianyi Group, his business is booming, and he's quite handsome—"

Zhiyun, not hearing the person she longed for, interrupted Uncle Fu:

"Uncle Fu—you know I'm not asking about him!"

Miss Zhiyun was still the same as before. Uncle Fu couldn't help but smile, his wrinkles deepening at the corners of his eyes, but his words were hesitant:

“Miss, I don’t know much. Young Master Fu hasn’t appeared at any banquets for a long time. He was fine a few years ago and worked at Tianyi. In the last two years, he said he was pursuing his ideals, but I don’t know much about his whereabouts.”

Zhiyun didn't get the information she wanted. She pouted her red lips slightly, her mind filled with that unforgettable face.

In the past, he would always find an excuse, put on a stern face, and pull himself back from other boys, but then do nothing.

Her expectations were all dashed, and Zhiyun looked aggrieved.

[That darn Fu Chao, it's all your fault! You're so handsome and so good to me, I can't feel romantic feelings for anyone else.]

——

Tao Zhizhi got up early to learn how to cook. Although it wasn't a good time to eat barbecue so early in the morning, she used the system's processing function to solve all the problems.

I must say, late-night snacks are so delicious! Early this morning, clutching her rumbling stomach, she sprawled on the sofa: [I don't want to cook.]

[Jue Feiyu: Zhizhi, good morning!]

[Jue Feiyu: I made breakfast, can we eat together?]

Tao Zhizhi's powerless reply:

[Cheese Peach: Good morning, but are you there?]

[Jue Feiyu: Downstairs, in the community pavilion.]

Tao Zhizhi tidied herself up, and although she was without makeup, her fresh and beautiful appearance made her look very pure and charming.

She ran downstairs with a clattering sound.

Tao Zhizhi saw Fu Jue sitting upright in the pavilion, strode straight towards him, and sat down on the stone bench, asking in confusion.

"Fu Jue, what are you doing here this morning?"

She stared at me blankly, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Has Zhizhi forgotten what happened last night?"

"It's okay, I can double-check."

Fu Jue moved closer to Tao Zhizhi, met her eyes, and said earnestly:

"Zhizhi, I'm pursuing you, I'm serious!"

Tao Zhizhi looked away and replied weakly:

"No, I know."

"I'm a little surprised that so many people are still not up at this hour."

Fu Jue slowly opened the packaging bag in her hand, took out a small bowl, and ladled out the seafood porridge:

"It's a little hot, let it cool down before eating."

He then handed over some fried dough sticks, saying, "Have something to eat first."

Tao Zhizhi was like a puppet, doing whatever he asked her to do, very obedient.

Seeing this, Fu Jue's eyes revealed his doting affection.

In the morning, only two people were having breakfast in the community pavilion; the elderly people who usually do morning exercises don't come here.

So this area was like their secret base, where the two of them lived alone in the whole world.

After Fu Jue finished breakfast, he took out the prepared bracelet and handed it to her.

"Why did you think of giving me this?"

Tao Zhizhi opened the package and saw the jewelry she had looked at several times yesterday, but she couldn't think of how to match it and didn't buy it. She didn't expect Fu Jue to deliver it to her today.

"I saw you looking at it a few more times yesterday, and I thought you would like it, so I bought it."
