Chapter Twenty-Seven: Paella

"Don't go looking for her, I'll bring her back."

Fu Jue's eyes showed dissatisfaction, while Lin Jiao tried to smooth things over:

“We know, Xiao Jue, go ahead and pursue it. Your dad just wants to give you a hard time.”

Fu Jue drank the water and then left them with a cold, aloof back view.

Lin Jiao helplessly scolded Fu Linyue:

"You're such a grown man, and you still want to tease our son! I haven't even settled accounts with you yet!"

Lin Jiao angrily slapped him:

“My two sons, the older one hasn’t been home for a long time, and the younger one has also become serious.”

Fu Linyue was a complete henpecked husband. Seeing that things weren't going well, he nervously touched his nose and hugged her to coax her. There was absolutely no way he would tell her that he had made a blunder yesterday and wanted to get revenge.

Group chat: [Occupy Warm Food Shop]

[He Xiang: Absolutely amazing, brothers!]

【: Thank goodness I didn't believe those guys in the group yesterday; I'm going to buy a house in Qingshui!】

[Ze Yi: Bro, you're amazing! [Worship the master.jpg]]

【!: Guys, is it really that amazing? I've been queuing all day and still haven't gotten a turn! [Crying and pounding the ground.jpg]】

【: This is amazing! The crispy texture, the spicy and savory flavor, and the sweetness of the ingredients—every single one of them is irresistible!】

【!: No way, I'm going at eight o'clock tomorrow, I refuse to believe it!】

...

Meanwhile, a heated discussion was taking place in the Blueberry fan group, with members agreeing to continue their discussion tomorrow!

The three people who were fast asleep at the warm food stall were about to face another big battle early in the morning.

——

next day

Tao Zhizhi arrived at the shop at eight o'clock, but she didn't see any familiar faces today.

A slightly chubby man with a憨憨 (simple and honest) smile waited anxiously, his eyes filled with a confident determination.

Seeing Tao Zhizhi standing at the shop entrance, he even raised his hand to greet her, showing a natural ease in greeting her.

"Hey! Are you here to wait for the hot food stall to open too?"

"I didn't get a spot yesterday, but I'm determined to get one today!"

He patted his chest confidently and smiled at Tao Zhizhi.

Tao Zhizhi gave an awkward smile, took out the key from her pocket, and opened the door.

I thought to myself, "Why did they arrive at eight o'clock?!"

That's right, he's the one who boasted in the group last night that he'd arrive at 8 o'clock [!], but he'd actually been waiting for ten minutes already.

With the belief that guests should be welcomed at the door, I greeted them with a professional smile: "Welcome!"

Tao Zhizhi touched the tip of her nose shyly:

"You may have to wait a long time. We usually open at 10 a.m. You can go outside and have some fun first."

Tao Zhizhi wrote down a number and handed it to him, but he didn't take it and just tossed it away.

"It's okay! I've already had breakfast, I can wait!"

Fu Jue and Su Bai entered the store one after the other, and were both surprised to see that there were already customers inside.

Su Bai stayed behind to take care of the guests, while the two of them went into the kitchen to get busy.

Tao Zhizhi didn't eat breakfast this morning; she asked the system to provide the ingredients for Spanish paella last night.

While Fu Jue was preparing the ingredients for the shop, Tao Zhizhi took out various seafood and vegetables, and chopped red peppers, onions, and other ingredients for later use.

Heat olive oil in a pan, sauté garlic, red bell pepper, and onion until fragrant, add chopped tomatoes, then add rice and mix well with the vegetables.

She added saffron and seafood one after another and simmered them until the broth was reduced and the rice was soft, sticky, and fragrant. She quickly made a Spanish seafood paella.

Nutstomp on Fu Jue, who is busy at work, and he picks up a plate:

"Fu Jue, have you had breakfast?"

"This is a new dish I made, and I cordially invite you to try it!"

Fu Jue turned around and saw Tao Zhizhi holding a plate with rice inside that was tinged with a golden color and exuded a rich aroma.

Tao Zhizhi, with her hair in a high bun, looked at him with a bright smile, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Fu Jue took two tissues, dried her hands, wiped the water droplets off each finger individually, and gently took the plate.

"It's freshly made, be careful, it's hot!"

Tao Zhizhi handed over a silver spoon:

"Try it!"

When Fu Jue took the spoon, he accidentally touched her fingers. The two fingers touched, and Tao Zhizhi quickly pulled back in surprise.

He took a big bite and chewed carefully the food she had prepared for him.

The rice is soft and fluffy, soaking up the rich broth, mixed with tender shrimp and shellfish, and the sweet and sour aroma of vegetables, instantly awakening the taste buds.

Fu Jue swallowed the large, satisfying mouthful, his gaze fixed intently on Tao Zhizhi, a smile spreading across his face.

"Everything Mr. Tao makes is delicious!"

"This time is no exception, I really like it."

Tao Zhizhi couldn't stand his intense gaze and looked away, saying, "Whatever you like."

Fu Jue pressed on: "Will this be sold?"

Tao Zhizhi was somewhat puzzled.

"Of course, can't you sell it? Don't you want to sell it?"

Fu Jue's phoenix eyes were filled with hope as he stared directly into her gaze and said bluntly:

"No, it will be very popular, but—"

"I don't want to. Can you do it just for me?"

Tao Zhizhi held her breath. The surrounding environment seemed to have been paused. She couldn't hear any sound except her own heartbeat and the other person's breath on her.

She heard herself reply, "Of course, if you don't want to, then I won't sell it."

Tao Zhizhi blushed involuntarily, feeling somewhat shy.

Fu Jue broke the deadlock first:

"Okay, I've got it."

"The ingredients are all prepared, I'll take this one."

Fu Jue untied her apron with one hand, picked up the plate, and left.

Tao Zhizhi was left in the kitchen to calm her racing heart.

Fu Jue carried the fragrant Spanish paella to the best spot in the lobby and sat down, making sure the aroma could spread to every part of the lobby.

The customers in the store smelled the enticing aroma, their stomachs rumbled in protest, and they couldn't help but search for the source of the fragrance.

He strode towards Fu Jue, swallowed hard at the sight of the golden rice, and politely asked:

"Hello, may I ask where you bought this rice?"

Fu Jue's posture was languid, but his tone revealed undisguised pride:

"This is the store."

"I work at the warm food stall, and the boss made this especially for me!"

Fu Jue emphasized the word "deliberately".

He didn't notice this detail; the customer's eyes lit up, and he was very sincere.

"Are you still hiring? How about I?"

He was clearly anxious, his eyes never leaving Fu Jue's paella, his gaze fixed solely on the food.

Fu Jue gave him a completely expressionless smile, and said coldly, emphasizing his tone:

"No, this is my special meal!"

After saying that, he started eating by himself.

The guest was somewhat unwilling to give up and wanted to continue arguing, but Fu Jue's cold aura and powerful presence made him hesitant.

Reluctantly sitting near Fu Jue, I took a deep breath, pretending that I had eaten it myself, and my anticipation for the food at the small shop grew even stronger!

Without a doubt, Su Bai also smelled the rich aroma that filled the hall.
