Jiang Xuan didn't expect that the two little ones would follow her into the house.
It seemed like they just wanted to watch her take her medicine.
In fact, that's exactly what they thought.
Fanxing thoughtfully picked up the smallest white pill and said, "Mom, you take this first."
Jiang Xuan swallowed.
Although it's the smallest, it's still about the size of a shirt button.
Dian Dian tilted her head and looked at her, "You're not afraid to eat it, are you?"
"Who, who said I dare not take it?" Jiang Xuan took the pill, steeled her heart, and put it in her mouth.
She gagged, then started drinking water like crazy.
The water in the half-enamel mug was all gone, but thankfully, the pills were finally washed away.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
The countless stars left me speechless.
They looked at each other, and Fanxing said, "Mom, why did you drink all the water? There's still so much medicine left."
Jiang Xuan put the medicine aside and said, "It's okay, I'll take it later."
"But when you're sick, you have to take your medicine on time so you can get better."
Dian Dian seems to have figured it out.
He rested his chin on his hand and said, "I know you're probably too scared to take the medicine. Here's what I can do: I'll help you think of a solution."
Jiang Xuan was amused by his mature demeanor and pinched his cheek. "What's your idea?"
“When I was sick before, Grandma would grind the medicine into powder. How about I ask Dad to grind it for you too?”
Jiang Xuan: ……
Just then, Lu Shengye came in.
"What should I roll out?"
Dian Dian then repeated her thoughts.
Jiang Xuan said embarrassedly, "I've never been able to swallow medicine since I was little. Can I skip this medicine? I feel completely better now."
"You feel better now because you just had an IV drip, but you still need to take medication for at least a day."
Lu Shengye picked up the medicine and broke it into four pieces in a moment.
With each one he broke off, Jiang Xuan's heart died a little more.
Perhaps it's psychological, but she finds it even harder to swallow this.
She held out Er Kang's hand, "No."
Lu Shengye smiled, "It's so small, you'll definitely be able to swallow it."
Fanxing clapped her hands, "Daddy is awesome!"
Lu Shengye looked at the large pill and said to Dian Dian Fan Xing, "Shall we help Mom roll the rest into small balls?"
The twinkling stars all said in unison, "Okay."
"Let's go wash our hands first."
Jiang Xuan sat in the chair, utterly dejected.
I shouldn't have been discharged from the hospital so early.
She'd rather have an IV drip for another day than take medicine!
Under the loving gaze of the three adults, and with five cups of water, Jiang Xuan lived up to everyone's expectations and finally swallowed the medicine.
"Okay, let's give Mom a round of applause."
Lu Shengye was the first to clap his hands.
Jiang Xuan retorted playfully, "I'm not a child."
Fanxing turned her head and said, "I can take the medicine, but Mom can't. What is Mom if not a child?"
Nodding, she said, "Yes, that makes sense."
In order to recover as quickly as possible, Jiang Xuan decided to take a nap first.
Lu Shengye tucked the blanket around her and said, "Then you sleep. I'll go outside first."
"You didn't sleep last night, why don't you get some sleep?"
"I'm not sleepy. I'll take Dian Dian and Fan Xing to school first, and then I'll pick up Auntie later."
"Oh, by the way, could you buy me something later?"
"Okay, go ahead."
Jiang Xuan thought for a moment and said, "Rock sugar, star anise, Sichuan peppercorns, bay leaves, cinnamon, dried chili peppers, soy sauce, and beer."
"Why did you buy so many seasonings? You're still sick, you need to rest now and can't do these things anymore."
"Don't worry, I bought it for Sister Lan."
Lu Shengye looked at Jiang Xuan suspiciously, as if trying to confirm whether she was lying or not.
"Sister Lan?"
More importantly, given Ma Xiaolan's personality, she would definitely buy what she needs herself.
Seeing that she couldn't hide it from him, Jiang Xuan told Lu Shengye what she was thinking.
Although Lu Shengye felt he could easily support her, he also knew that Jiang Xuan wasn't the type of person who could stay idle.
With Ma Xiaolan's help, he felt much more at ease.
Perhaps due to the side effects of the medication, Jiang Xuan slept until four o'clock in the afternoon.
If Lu Shengye and Hu Tao hadn't come back, she probably wouldn't have woken up yet.
Hu Tao brought some sand pears from her hometown, saying they were good for clearing heat and reducing internal fire, and that Jiang Xuan should eat them to moisturize her lungs.
"Thank you, Auntie."
“And these,” Hu Tao pulled a brown paper package from her pocket, “are some bean flour given to me by a neighbor. It’s already been roasted and can be soaked in water to drink.”
Jiang Xuan took a sniff; the bean powder smelled quite nice.
"Auntie, what kind of bean is this?"
Hu Tao smiled and said, "Soybeans, lentils, peas, and many other kinds. They are first roasted and then ground on a stone mill."
At some point, Lu Shengye went out and got a spoon, handed it to Jiang Xuan, and said softly, "Try it."
Jiang Xuan ate some, and it was quite delicious.
"Do you like it? If you do, I'll make it for you."
Jiang Xuan said softly, "I don't want to soak it in water, I want to eat it directly."
Lu Shengye went to the kitchen and got a small bowl.
"You should try some too." Jiang Xuan scooped out another half spoonful and fed it to Lu Shengye's mouth.
Feeling a little embarrassed in front of his aunt, Lu Shengye took the spoon and said, "I can do it myself."
Seeing how well the young couple got along, Hu Tao felt quite gratified.
She couldn't help but sigh softly.
If only her own son and daughter-in-law were as loving and affectionate as they are, they wouldn't have divorced, and she wouldn't have missed her only grandson.
