The Lu family.
After being busy for several days in a row, Lu Pei'an decided to rest at home today because he had some free time.
Wang Yingqiu made breakfast early in the morning, saying that she wanted to take Tingting to visit her grandmother during the summer vacation.
Lu Pei'an then arranged a car for them.
After finishing breakfast, Lu Rongde took Dian Dian and Fan Xing out. The two little ones went to kindergarten, while he played chess with someone outside until noon.
This is his usual habit.
It was already high in the sky when Lu Xiaomei rubbed her sleepy face and walked into the main room.
Lu Pei'an was sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper.
Seeing his daughter wearing a tank top, her hair a mess and colorful, he got angry. "Go put on some clothes! What's wrong with your hair?"
Lu Xiaomei remained unmoved, sitting down at the table, picking up the food cover, and starting to drink the millet porridge.
Lu Pei'an was very dissatisfied and said loudly, "Didn't you hear what I said?"
How I dress is my freedom.
Lu Pei'an slammed the newspaper on the table and stood up abruptly. "What kind of attitude is this? Look at yourself, do you even have the demeanor of a student?"
Lu Xiaomei ate her steamed bun nonchalantly, "I never wanted to go to school anyway, so why don't you just let me drop out?"
Lu Pei'an was so angry that his face turned green. "You don't want to go to school? Do you want to fly to the sky? Look at Tingting. She eats and lives with you. What are her grades? What are your grades? You only get 20 or 30 points. Aren't you ashamed? I'm ashamed for you."
Lu Xiaomei wasn't angry or respond. She finished her millet porridge in big gulps and turned to walk outside.
"Stop right there!"
"What's wrong now?"
"I don't think you're any good at studying, so if you don't want to study, then don't bother Tingting. You should move out and live with Dian Dian and Fan Xing."
Lu Xiaomei scoffed and didn't even turn her head.
After his daughter left, Lu Pei'an was so angry that he drank a whole enamel mug of water.
He really couldn't understand why this was happening.
His two children, who had always been easy to take care of since childhood, have been acting like they're possessed and going against him these past few years.
He only married Wang Yingqiu after their mother had fallen ill and passed away.
He didn't do anything to betray his wife.
What law did he break?
I was planning to rest at home, but now I feel a tightness in my chest.
He walked out, feeling frustrated, intending to get some fresh air.
Just as they reached the front door, Lu Shengye and Jiang Xuan walked in carrying several large plastic bags.
Jiang Xuan said in a clear voice, "Uncle, are we going out?"
"Oh, you're back?"
"yes."
Lu Shengye took out his car keys from his pocket, expressionless. "I've used the car."
Lu Pei'an was used to it. He took the key and said, "Your Aunt Wang isn't here today, so we'll have lunch at the cafeteria."
Lu Shengye grunted in agreement and strode toward the house.
Jiang Xuan nodded to Lu Pei'an and followed him.
Hearing the noise, Lu Xiaomei ran out of the house.
"Brother, you're back?"
When Lu Xiaomei saw Jiang Xuan, she was slightly taken aback. She had heard that her brother had brought back a beautiful girl, but she hadn't expected her to be this beautiful.
More importantly, she seemed very approachable, making people want to get closer to her.
Jiang Xuan also looked at her.
The girl in front of her, who was slightly younger than her, looked quite unique. She wore a tank top and high-waisted jeans, and had short, layered hair with a few stubbles of blue dye in the front.
Her features were somewhat similar to Lu Shengye's, both having thick eyebrows, big eyes, and a high nose.
He's quite tall, I think he's 168cm.
She quite liked her.
Jiang Xuan smiled and said, "You must be my little sister. I'm Jiang Xuan."
Lu Xiaomei nodded.
Lu Shengye carried several bags into the main room, then came out and glanced at Lu Xiaomei, asking, "Is there something stuck in your hair?"
Although Lu Xiaomei is rather rebellious, she is still a little afraid of her brother.
She kept her head down and didn't say anything.
Lu Shengye touched her hair and frowned. "You dyed your hair? You're a student, why are you doing all this useless stuff? You'll be a senior in high school soon, you should focus your energy on studying. Go to the hair salon to get it washed later."
Seeing that Lu Xiaomei didn't speak, Lu Shengye got angry, "Did you hear me?"
Lu Xiaomei bit her lip and whispered, "I heard you."
Jiang Xuan said, "You must be tired after driving all night. Go back to your room and get some sleep."
"Um."
After Lu Shengye entered the house, Jiang Xuan affectionately took Lu Xiaomei's hand and said, "We brought some local specialties from our hometown. Come on, let's go inside and have some."
Lu Xiaomei's heart skipped a beat, and her eyes began to redden.
Since her mother passed away, no one has held her hand anymore.
Because of her poor academic performance and unconventional fashion sense, she had no real friends at school.
Those so-called friends flattered her to her face, but secretly looked down on her.
Their purpose in approaching her was simply because her father had influence in the military region.
They were thinking about what would happen if they needed her dad's help in the future...
Jiang Xuan didn't notice this detail and kept pulling her into the main room.
She brought hawthorn berries, crisp white melons, peaches, and of course, fried dough cakes made by Yang Shuying from her hometown.
These fruits are all specialties from the Qinshui area, and they have just ripened.
It's not that it doesn't exist in Ningzhou, but it usually takes about two months to see it.
The taste is definitely not as good as freshly picked.
"This is a red fruit, it's quite delicious, you should try it." Jiang Xuan picked up a small red fruit that looked a bit like an apple and handed it to Lu Xiaomei.
Lu Xiaomei hesitated before taking it, wiped it with her hand, and took a bite.
These hawthorn berries are crisp and fresh, with a sweet and sour taste; they really taste great.
"How is it? Is it delicious?"
Lu Xiaomei nodded, "Yes, it's delicious."
"Then eat a few more." Jiang Xuan smiled and pushed the bag towards her. "There are plenty."
"good."
"Little sister, your brother has been driving hard these past few days. Let him get some more sleep. Can we cook together later?"
Lu Xiaomei said a little embarrassedly, "But I can't cook."
"It's okay, just help me wash the vegetables. You eat first, I'll go to the kitchen to see what's in the kitchen."
Jiang Xuan went to the kitchen.
The kitchen wasn't big, but it was very tidy.
They also use large pots, but unlike in the countryside, they now use gas stoves.
Behind the stove was a bowl of pork, and under the food cover on the cutting board were several bundles of noodles.
Opposite the stove was a long cabinet, with pots, pans and other utensils on one side and some vegetables on the other side: a tomato, two cucumbers, and a small bunch of bok choy.
Just then, Lu Xiaomei walked in and asked, "Is there enough food?"
"That's not enough. I'll make us noodles. Do you like noodles?"
"I like it, and my brother likes it too."
Suddenly, Jiang Xuan realized a problem: "There don't seem to be any scallions."
"Aunt Wang has some planted in her yard, I'll go ask for a few."
