Chapter 217 Justice (1)

Chapter 217

What a repulsive look! Deedrie frowned, trying to maintain a safe distance from him.

But what safe distance is there? His ability is direct command, regardless of where he stands. Whether she dies or not depends solely on his will.

If he wanted to, he wouldn't have had any chance of surviving.

However, she was still actively seeking the conditions to kill him while surviving. She didn't know the specific details of this guy's abilities, but she just wishfully thought that powerful abilities required preparation time and restrictions.

She charged forward again, this time completely changing the direction of her weapon, swinging it horizontally.

Black flames surged, a fierce wind howled, and the immense pressure from the Demon King-level wind and fire elemental buffs instantly created a vacuum in the environment. This couldn't even be called a slash, because from the sky, the resulting explosion scorched the ground within a kilometer radius into carbon.

Even so, the knife did not harm him in the slightest. He simply gripped the blade with one hand, staring at Deedri's angry eyes without any emotion.

“I’m sorry for what happened to him, but I can’t die here,” the Arbiter said softly, then twisted his wrist and plunged his greatsword into the ground.

Then he left, leaving Deedri devastated.

She used all the magic she could muster in that one strike... but even so, he still didn't suffer any real damage.

She stood there, watching the person walk towards Ling Sen.

All her preparations over the past year were negated, because even with the Demon King's power, it was useless. She couldn't defeat Judgment; that guy was fundamentally from a different world.

......

"Oh, you're back. You look terrible." Linas stood at the entrance to the Spirit Forest, waiting for Deedri.

It's already midnight, and time always seems to fly by at this hour. Half a day has passed in the blink of an eye, and night has fallen.

Dedeline walked through the dark forest and saw the man standing at the entrance to the Spirit Forest. He looked like he had already gone home and changed his clothes. He looked serene.

Even though her house was destroyed the moment she became the Demon King, she still had new clothes to change into.

Based on what I learned about her abilities this afternoon, she probably already foresaw what would happen at this time in the future. So she probably already moved her cherished things away, right?

I was so stupid. When I found out about this, I didn't see any tea sets in the lobby. I should have known there was something fishy going on.

They were more than ten meters apart. Deedri was looking at her, and she was looking at herself.

"You knew all along?" Dedeline said softly.

"What do you mean?" She shrugged, then took out a clean white handkerchief from her pocket... still damp and warm. She probably timed her arrival carefully, arriving less than half a minute early without waiting.

Her hand touched Deedris's sheep bone mask, which shattered, revealing the originally beautiful face beneath.

It's not that she's not pretty now, but she's not the kind of look that's universally acceptable. Her eyes are jet black, except for the crimson pupils. Tiny white horns grow on her forehead, and bright red lines cling to her face, as if it might burst open at any moment.

It's like a demon.

"You're crying so hard." Lina's voice wasn't strange; she slowly wiped the red tear stains on Deedri's face with a damp towel, presumably until she was crying so much that only blood remained. Deedri, who was once a child prodigy, wasn't very tall, but now, because of her monstrous appearance, she was much taller than before, about the same height as the little spider she once was, easily over 1.7 meters. Lina tilted her head up, wiping away her tears and the dust that had settled on her.

Only after she put away the towel did she reveal that familiar smile.

Lina was always smiling, and Deedri rarely saw her sad; she was always smiling.

But that makes sense. She can anticipate sad events and prepare accordingly, while she can still feel happy when she experiences happy events again, even if she already knows about them.

So why not laugh?

Linas held Deedri's right hand, and the hard exoskeleton gauntlet began to slowly fall off, leaving the bandages that were originally tied on it to protect the hand crumpled and tattered.

She carefully removed the rotten bandages, revealing Deedris's hands.

His skin was a pale white, and because it had been constantly covered by bandages, when the bandages were removed, the skin underneath was as white as a white finger. Although he had some money and wrinkles, he did not look old.

The palms of my hands are covered in wounds from using weapons, new wounds on top of old ones, creating open lacerations. There are also corroded parts of the skin and flesh.

There are no high-ranking priests here to exorcise their corruption, and using magic to do something like that would only further damage the wounds. That's why it looks so grotesque and terrifying.

“You’re such a lovely girl, there’s no need for you to work so hard,” she said softly, then took Deedri’s hand and prepared to enter the Spirit Forest.

But she didn't pull it. She turned her head to look at Deedri, who was standing there motionless, without saying a word.

“I don’t know how to comfort you. I’ve confirmed it with my future vision. No matter what I say, you will leave at this time. And then leave alone.” Linas said softly, “Wherever you go, at least wait a few days, heal your wounds, and prepare a little. Your body has absorbed so much magic at once, which has made you unhealthy. You need time to catch your breath.”

"You even knew I was planning to leave?" She looked at her with a hint of confusion. "Will my future change?"

“At least for now, if you leave, your only fate is death.” Linas turned to look at her and said, “But fate is fickle, and the outcome we’re facing now isn’t unchangeable. I’ve been trying to steer fate in the direction I hope for. Including you, I also hope you have a good ending.”

"Why? We didn't recognize each other."

“When we wanted to meet, we were already connected. You should understand that with so many monsters and humans in the world, our ability to meet is not inevitable, but purely accidental.” She said softly, “Fate is full of chance, because there are just too many variables, and any one of them can lead to change. At least a long time ago, I never saw you in fate until I saw you with my own eyes, and then I realized that the fate I saw had changed without my knowledge.”

"You mean we shouldn't have met in the first place? Were they dead?"

"Maybe you never came at all, or maybe you're dead, or more likely you've left. There are many possibilities." She said softly, "Don't throw your life away in vain. You'll find a bright future."

"You saw it?"

"No."

"Then why are you so certain?"

“Because fate has never gone in the direction I expected, in the long run, I am just like everyone else, completely ignorant about the future.” She turned around and hugged Deedri tightly: “Come back and rest, you need time to rest properly.”

Inside the treehouse, Denos looked outside.

This is Ling Sen, a place he has always wanted to come to.

He also met his mother.

Seeing a mother who looked even younger than himself, when this actually happened, just made him feel a little nauseous. The feeling was so strange that he didn't even know how to face her.

It was completely different from what I had guessed and remembered, but that's understandable. Things never really go according to plan.

Karl has gone to talk to the Elf King, giving him and Nina a chance to relax.

In reality, their combat strength wasn't as weak as imagined. When it came to dealing with monsters, the two of them combined were equivalent to half a high-ranking cleric. They were at least two top-tier sorcerers, not so fragile as to be merely there for the sake of it.

The reason for this explanation is to show that both of them are exhausted. They don't want to do anything and just want to lie down.

Nina went to take a shower at that moment, and he was assigned to the second position.

The current situation is quite unusual, with all sorts of messy things happening at once, which is making people feel a bit annoyed and confused.

So we decided to deal with it the next day. Everyone has already experienced too much misfortune today, and nobody wants to have another night of sleepless nights.

"I'm done washing up." Nina came out of the room, wearing a large bathrobe and drying her head with a towel.

“I thought you’d come out wrapped in a towel,” Denos said casually, looking at his lovely wife.

However, he wasn't actually unhappy. The bathrobe Nina was wearing was a gift from Linas, and it was slightly larger than her actual size. It looked a bit like a child wearing adult clothes, a little puffy. It was also undeniably cute and endearing.

But Nina was too lazy to talk and went off to fix her hair somewhere.

“This short haircut suits you well too.” Denos glanced at it. “Don’t worry about it.”

"I finally managed to grow it long," she muttered softly, looking a little annoyed.

Previously, for various reasons, half of her hair was burned, and she could only look better by cutting off all the hair below her shoulders.

She originally had long hair that she had kept for a whole year, and it was very beautiful when it was loose.

Normally, she had this short hair when she was still a sorcerer. She only grew it long after she passed away peacefully.

I should have cut it before going out; it's so cumbersome, and I shouldn't have carried it with me in the first place. Only people who are very confident in themselves would want to keep their hair long to fight.

She held onto a small glimmer of hope and did her best to protect her hair.

Clearly, good fortune did not smile upon her.

"It's okay, really." Denos tried to comfort her, who was feeling a little wronged, and then went over and hugged her head, letting her bury her head in his arms.

"Go take a shower, you smell. Don't touch me before you shower." She pushed Denos away as he tried to get closer, and he could only smile awkwardly before turning around to prepare for his shower.

There's simply no chance to wash your face while on the road; at most, you'll wipe it once every two weeks to a month.

Therefore, after landing, it's best to take a good shower and get a good night's sleep.

Denos went into the inner room, where Nina helped him change into his new water-soaked clothes, which pleased Denos. He silently soaked in the pool several times, looking at the wounds on his body.

You only realize how much suffering you've endured when you're taking a shower yourself.

After all, he is human. Humans cannot completely erase the pain they have suffered from the physical realm and leave it only in their memories.

Outside, Nina was peering out the window.

When she saw the dreamlike scene outside with her own eyes, she felt very happy.

She had never been to Lingsen; she had only heard of it.

Even at night, the place isn't dark, and the temperature is pleasant; at this time, it's like a fairyland. Beautiful people sit on the treetops singing softly, their voices plaintive and sorrowful.

She rested her head on her hand, looking at the beautiful woman sitting there in silence.

How long can those people keep going like this?

Those are monsters, unlike humans, they are monsters.

At times like these, I still feel a little jealous of the monsters.

She lay there, listening to the singing.

She looked up, startled, then smiled helplessly.

Only then did they discover that a huge snake was standing not far from the treehouse. Its entire body was covered in hard scales, but it hadn't been noticed before because it was covered in moss. If it hadn't moved, it would have been understandable that it hadn't been spotted.

The giant snake slowly moved to the window, its enormous eyes fixed on her.

Nina hesitated for a moment, then reached out and touched its scales.

If this monster doesn't attack directly, you can probably guess that it must have its own intelligence.

They did eventually meet the Elf King, who greeted them at the door and then invited them to a banquet the next day.

However, in order to ensure their safety, and for their own sake, it is understandable to have something monitoring them around.

The snake didn't resist; it slowly approached, closed its eyes, and let Nina rub them.

This creature must be very old; its scales have probably been replaced many times. There are still traces of molting on it.

Her mind was a mess, and she needed something to relax.

Then she fell asleep. She lay on the table, feeling a little tired, and closed her eyes.

She was utterly exhausted. The backlash from the various high-level spells had finally pushed her mental strength to its limit after it had stabilized, and she desperately needed a good night's sleep.

After the tension subsided, a wave of exhaustion washed over me.

The giant snake stared at her for a long time before leaving.
