Chapter 167 Stance (2)

Chapter 167

The little spider hesitated, crawling on the ground, crouching low like a spider, and making a defiant sound from its throat.

It looks as if it's expressing its attitude towards something in front of it.

However, for it, that kind of thing could be destroyed with just a flick of its wrist. But even so, this guy was still there, flexing his muscles.

That was also a spider, one of its kind.

It has been some time since he entered, and during this time he has not found what he was looking for. Instead, he encountered the guy in front of him.

There's more than one, because anyone who's encountered this kind of monstrous spider knows that if it lived alone, it wouldn't be on the list of things they least want to see.

It was much larger than when the little spider was still in its original form, roughly the size of a carriage, bulky and heavy, and its limbs were as sharp as knives. Judging from its performance just now, it could easily cut through trees.

Moreover, it can conceal its presence. If the little spider hadn't noticed the unique traces left by the spider's legs, it might have really been ambushed.

"Should we go around it?" Dedeline whispered, gripping her sickle.

The little spider must have been soft-hearted; it didn't really want to use violence against its own kind.

But clearly, that guy misunderstood the little spider's reaction; it seemed to be making some disgruntled noises.

The reason was that it targeted Deedris behind the spiderling, interpreting the spiderling's display as a declaration of ownership over its prey. This is clearly something a wild animal would do. It naturally assumed the spiderling was also a wild animal, and that they were all wild animals, no different from each other.

Clearly, this was a mindless creature, acting solely on instinct. Even so, the little spider didn't kill it immediately, but instead used its intimidation to make it back down.

"Why are there spiders here?" the little spider murmured, a little troubled.

Dedely really wanted to say that you have friends everywhere, and it's abnormal that you haven't run into anyone like you in so long.

Perhaps it was because of the little spider's aura that they had never been attacked by spider-like monsters during their long-term activities in the Chaotic Region. It was thanks to the little spider conveying its spider-like aura to those little creatures that these disgusting things were spared from being killed.

"That's a nest." The little spider looked up at the white, wriggling ball of silk not far away. "There's more than one spider here."

Dedeline paused, realizing that the spider the little spider was referring to was the thing it was talking about.

Although I've seen many spiders, I've never actually fought against a nest. That thing is a calamity-level monster, and it also has a massive number of minions. I'm no match for them, and I can't show off in front of them.

Just as she was contemplating whether to turn her head, she saw the little spider raise its legs and use its web to create a simple web around her.

"Wait here for me, don't come out of the web," the little spider said. "There's nothing here that can stop your scythe. If there's any danger, don't worry about my feelings, just keep cutting."

“If it threatens my life, of course I’ll do it, but if it’s not too dangerous, I won’t hurt them.” Deedri shrugged. “After all, they’re your friends.”

"Thank you," the little spider said softly, then jumped up and stuck to a tree, moving quickly through the woods.

Although I don't know where this place is, there haven't been any high-risk enemies since then; the most dangerous one was just a calamity-level monster. And that was just the spider nest we saw earlier.

We have no idea where we are. Maybe it's connected to some other place because of some spatial laws. We might end up in some strange and mysterious place.

Although he didn't know who wanted to cause trouble for him, he was certain that there was some random guy watching him in this kind of place.

The little spider stopped on a branch, looking at the white spider silk spread out in front of it, hesitating whether to step on it.

Continuing forward leads to the territory of this nest. If the creatures inside don't consider you one of their own, stepping on them will instantly make you the target of a multitude of monsters. (First published on 78Chinese.com)

"Aren't you coming in?" Suddenly, a strange voice rang out beside him. The little spider looked up in surprise at the monster in front of him.

It was a blackish-purple spider, about half the size of a person. It had been huddled in its silk the whole time, but now it propped itself up and looked at the little spider, saying, "Are you one of our kind? You don't seem like one; you don't look like a spider."

Scattered sounds arose around it, and the little spider knew without turning its head that it was surrounded.

Although he could easily break through this level of encirclement, it would inevitably result in casualties. Even though everyone here was a monster, he was still one of them.

“I am one of them,” the little spider said softly, its four long legs shifting casually before pointing at the smaller creature: “This is proof.”

"Is this a threat?" The purple spider's mood was unreadable. "I've been wondering about this since earlier. Why did you bring a fire goat with you? Is it your prey? Or something else?"

“That’s my friend,” the little spider said without hesitation. “Would you consider me an enemy because of something like that?”

"No, I just want to know if you can still be considered a spider." The monster, perched on its web, looked at it and said, "Look at you, acting with humanoid monsters, using a human-like form, and clearly showing no trust towards us. Can we still be considered the same kind?"

The little spider remained silent, unable to give a suitable answer.

The little spider's life had almost become human-like. The first two explanations were somewhat understandable, but the third was something the spider had no idea when it had developed. It had even become wary of its own kind.

These spiders unconditionally trust anything that smells or looks similar to them, and will never consider it food unless it's dead. Occasionally, they'll misjudge something and apologize in their own way. They cooperate perfectly as a team, relying solely on simple telepathic communication; they truly function as one.

But it seems that at some point, the concept of companions shifted from the spiders to the girl standing there. In front of her were the monsters, the place where she should be. Behind her was a beautiful human, and although she shouldn't, she wanted to stay there.

"Don't hesitate like that. You're just annoyed by people who are wavering in their stance," the little thing said, and then it began to twist and deform. Slowly, it transformed into a little girl about half the height of a person.

She rubbed her eyes, looking at the little spider that was staring at her with some surprise.

"Can you transform into a human?" the little spider asked softly, watching as spider legs grew from her back and a simple white silk dress was woven onto her body.

“Yes,” she said casually, “It was originally a body created with magic, so shouldn’t it be normal for it to become anything?”

As she spoke, she jumped in front of the little spider and stretched out her hand to him.

“I’ll pull you inside; the spiders here recognize me,” she said. “You’ve lost their trust; you need a guide.”

The little spider didn't speak, but simply took its hand out of hers and looked at the white spider web on it.

This is the child's web, covered in her pheromones, a sign that the little spider has been trusted. This will prevent the monsters from continuing to cling to it and devour its flesh.

Chris hesitated for a moment, then followed behind her.

She had long purple hair and was dressed entirely in white. She walked on the white net without showing any fear or loss of balance.

Once her spider legs retracted completely, the child looked just like a little spider.

She bounced on the spiderweb, which looked fragile, yet she was able to dance beautifully on it.

She moved with light steps, twirling and leaping around the little spider.

“We’re alike,” the purple-haired child said as he walked. “We were both lucky enough to get human bodies.”

"Perhaps," the little spider said, looking at her. "You live here?"

“Yeah, aren’t spiders supposed to live in their nests?” The girl turned her head and looked at him, saying, “You weirdo, where do you think you’d stay?”

When the little spider realized what was happening, it was already trapped in the web. Then it slowly turned around, and its four legs pointed at the little spider's head, limbs, and abdomen respectively.

"What are you trying to do?" Chris said softly. He didn't sense any hostility and probably understood that the child just wanted to tease him.

"At least tell me which side you want to be on, just give me an answer, I'm not forcing you." She said softly, "I just hate people who are ambiguous, at least please clearly state which side you belong to."

“We’re friends, aren’t we?” The little spider smiled helplessly. “I think we’re the same kind of thing. I’ve never hated my own kind.”

“You’ve been deceived.” The girl paused and said, “Do you really still consider yourself one of our people?”

As she spoke, she slowly moved closer, placing her hands on his face. Their pupils met, and memories of the past surged back like a tidal wave.

Those were the little spider's memories of living among the spider colony. Because so many of them were repetitive, it didn't remember most of them. It only clearly knew its origins.

To be honest, I hadn't really thought about what happened during that time in detail. Although I was capable of thinking back then, I was just looking at the world in a state of natural disaster and wondering what I really was. I never thought about acting alongside humans.

The creatures that are born on the nest inherit many of the original's memories. In other words, they all share each other's memories. No memory is forgotten, and no memory is ignored.

“You do have a group of good friends,” the girl said with a smile. She had also accessed Spider-Man’s memories and knew what he had been through.

The little spider looked away, not at her, and then slowly closed its eyes.

After a moment of silence, the little spider spoke softly.

“I am a monster,” the little spider replied. “I have always been a monster.”

"Is that so?" the girl said softly, her spider legs suddenly disappearing as she hugged the little spider tightly.

Then, it slowly shrank in his arms and transformed into a dark purple spider, clinging to him. It looked truly terrifying and chilling. (ァ78中文ヤ~8~1~ωωω.7~8z~w.còм )

At the same time, the large spiders around him slowly crawled over and leaned against the small spider. He slowly sat down, holding the spider in his arms, while several black monsters leaned against him.

The little spider slowly closed its eyes and sighed helplessly.

It felt familiar, like it had been a long, long time ago. When they rested, they would huddle together, feeling each other's faint body heat. Back then, it was one of those spiders. Looking back now, it's pitifully ignorant, but it felt so safe, as if that feeling completely dispelled the fear in its heart.

Even now, this remains true.

Suddenly, the entire spiderweb of the nest seemed to come alive, wrapping around its body and enveloping it while magic flowed into its body through the web.

He became one with the nest, and at the same time, the spider web grew in all directions at an even faster pace.

The surrounding forest was rapidly covered by the ever-growing spider webs. The entire nest expanded instantly, cascading outwards like a tidal wave.

At the same time, there was an enormous amount of magic power being devoured. Any monster capable of sensing the flow of magic power would notice the anomaly here. These spiderwebs greedily absorbed the chaotic elements, filtering out the holy magic power within them. As a result, the spiderwebs would break down, simultaneously shooting out new white silk threads.

Dedeline stood there, bewildered, holding a scythe and watching everything around her. She tilted her head as she watched the spiderwebs that flowed past her but had nothing to do with her.

"What is this?" she wondered, frowning as she looked at the dense white cocoons that suddenly filled the area around her.

"What is that little spider doing?" She looked at the thousands, even tens of thousands of little spiders crawling out of their cocoons, but they all ignored her.

This is also why spider webs grow; they don't come to life, but are woven by tens of millions of tiny spiders.

Because a more powerful master came to the spider nest here, it was assimilated and evolved into something even more terrifying.

"My trypophobia is acting up a bit," she thought, resting her head on her hand, somewhat speechless. She didn't know what was going on, and she didn't particularly dislike these little bugs. But seeing so many of them still made her feel a little nauseous.

However, she felt inexplicably at ease. Although this place didn't look like a safe place at all, the moment she was surrounded by the spider web, she felt that she wasn't being captured, but rather being protected inside.
