Chapter 180 Gods Don't Make Mistakes (2)

Chapter 180

The adjudicator stood in the pouring rain, watching the downpour from the sky.

The ground was muddy, my feet sank into the mud, and my clothes were soaked.

Such heavy rain makes one feel uncomfortable all over, but that's all it is, just discomfort.

I don't care whether I'm comfortable or not, but my friends don't seem to feel the same way.

The little mouse is now huddled inside a waterproof cloth bag with simple food.

"Speaking of which, the weather is really bad," it said, pulling a white spear from the ground.

It's quite rare to spot such a long spear in the heavy rain, especially since it had pierced through a rock-like skull and only half of it remained outside.

Looking down from the head, it was a gigantic, sprawling monster. Now it lay there, motionless.

Of course it won't move; dead things naturally won't move.

"This must be the last one," he muttered softly, looking around.

In the vast plain, there was nothing but the sound of rain.

As far as the eye could see, only the monster's body was buried by the rain. He stood among them, as insignificant as a speck of dust. This was only how it appeared; from another perspective, it was a complete monster.

It was still pouring rain, but the ground was starting to get hot.

It wasn't because monsters were coming, but because it was in a chaotic region where the environment was constantly changing.

It was indeed quite awful, because soon the entire underground area would be extremely hot, while the sky would be pouring cold rain, making it feel like being in a frying pan.

And a bit of a hassle is that it fogs up.

Within minutes, the entire earth was shrouded in mist.

The fog was so thick it was like a colloid; when you were inside it, your whole body felt sticky.

The adjudicator walked among them, lost in thought.

He completed the task a little faster than the Immortal had anticipated. It wasn't that the Immortal was inferior to him, but rather that his abilities were better suited for clearing out the smaller foes.

Those below the level of Chaos Calamity are all considered insignificant to him.

It took less than twenty minutes to clear out the monster horde created by the Blood Sun.

Before that, he had been thinking about visiting Lingsen.

There was no official business involved; it was purely because I had just become a saint and wanted to see every beautiful corner of the world.

After all, he had only recently become a saint, and unlike Benny, he was a country bumpkin living in a small town, unlike Benny who traveled all over the world.

Before becoming a saint, Benny had already traveled the whole world. It was only when he became a saint that he realized how vast the world truly was.

That's roughly the difference.

He hesitated, calculating his own time. Because it was on the way, if he arrived at Lingsen now, he would probably only be able to stay for three hours before leaving.

Although it was only a short visit, if he only went to that place briefly and then returned at full speed, the rescue would take the same amount of time as the Immortal had arranged for him.

It seems like we have plenty of time.

He hesitated, thinking about the information on Ling Sen. Although he was human, he knew that this place was extremely beautiful. It was a garden in another world, filled with many beautiful and wondrous things.

There lived an Elf King there, who, at the very least, was an obedient demon king.

He didn't feel any aversion towards monsters, after all, the rat in his arms was a monster, and so were his servants. Within the church, there were quite a few monsters who aided them.

The adjudicator felt no aversion to the innocent. As long as they were pure, he made no difference to them, whether they were monsters or normal humans.

It's just a difference between humans and monsters; monsters that don't make mistakes are also clean. In God's eyes, everyone is treated equally.

His nose twitched, and he frowned.

But he had a feeling that something was off since the beginning. It seemed that some unpleasant people had passed by on this road not long ago.

It made him somewhat uneasy; even after becoming a saint, he still felt uneasy.

Although it was his first time, he felt that perhaps some arrogant things had passed by here.

If that thing intends to promote its stance through itself, he wouldn't mind turning that guy into a corpse. Just like the plains behind him. As far as the eye can see, there are only corpses.

He wasn't a bloodthirsty guy, but he wasn't a kind person either.

The adjudicator raised his head and looked at the twisted, grotesque, and withered trees in front of him.

This is the location of the Spirit Forest. The book says this area is designed so that the forests within can thrive, not so that the forests here will become dens of mindless monsters due to the chaotic elements outside.

That's really nice. This place definitely seems like a safe and secure place.

With proper protection, people inside can surely live and work in peace and contentment.

Thinking this, he walked towards Ling Sen.

If the people here are willing to accept it, perhaps I should rest here for a while. My robe is completely soaked. Or to put it another way, this robe is extremely uncomfortable to wear, intended to provide resistance. I can only take off one of the inner garments and dry it in the oven.

This feeling wasn't very pleasant, so he hoped to find a place to stay. He had brought some money with him, not much, but enough to allow him to rest for a few hours.

He walked through the black thorns, unaware that he would be surrounded by wolves at any moment.

The Arbiter looked at the wolves around him and realized that he had forgotten to conceal his presence.

I was just spacing out and forgot about this, which I feel really bad about for the residents here.

Beyond the black forest lies a green wonderland.

"Squeak." A thud came from his chest as a small mouse scurried onto his shoulder.

It rubbed the little mouse's head and looked around.

Then the little guy landed on the ground. This guy is usually let out to go wherever he wants. He'll follow you when you leave.

Although I don't know if it can understand human speech, at least I can transmit messages to it directly using my holy magic.

That way, no matter where it goes, it will be able to find the little guy.

As its only partner, the Arbiter valued it highly.

"Honored guest." It heard the voice, raised its head, and looked at the Elf King standing there.

The adjudicator nodded and then bowed slightly.

"Please allow me to rest here for a moment," he said. "It's raining heavily outside, and I need to dry myself off. I won't disturb your rest, so please don't be nervous."

"Is that so?" The Elf King frowned, looking at the fellow. "Are you a saint? I've never seen this face before."

"I'm considered a newcomer; this is my first mission." The adjudicator looked around. "Do you have some kind of complaint against me?"

Before him, an encirclement formed by the Demon King and the Chaos Calamity appeared, like an unbreakable iron net.

But for a saint, no enclosure is indestructible; if he so desires, it is merely a decoration.

"Please forgive us, we are only doing this for the safety of our people." Mu Xin appeared before him and bowed slightly as well: "If you wish to rest, please follow me. I will offer you, my esteemed guest, a simple meal."

"Thank you for your trouble."

......

"Why did that thing suddenly appear?" Dedeline stared at it from afar, cold sweat beading on her forehead.

She also had Chuli, plus Spider-Man. The three of them were responsible for observing his movements, while the rest of the people were all loaded into the vehicle, and they have already set off.

At least he didn't go directly to where they left. That would be terrible.

Fortunately, there were two people in the team with early warning abilities, otherwise they would have been completely trapped in a dead end.

“It’s not safe to leave right now. It’s pouring rain and incredibly hot outside, which has created a thick fog.” Beside her, Xiaobai hesitated and said, “It’s hard to keep track of directions in this situation. If we can’t guarantee that we’ll get straight to the Land of the Dead, it’ll be very troublesome.”

"I'm just unlucky, there's nothing I can do about it," Deedrey said, rubbing her temples.

Ultimately, how do we stall this guy?

I am not strong enough to stop a saint from advancing. If he wants to leave, who can stop him?

The scene that Benny caused is still fresh in everyone's memory. It was a crushing defeat on a completely different level, without any reason or rules, and it happened entirely according to her own will.

What can I do? Let alone go up and stop them, I'm just cannon fodder, someone who can only be on par with a calamity-level monster because of my equipment.

Staying behind also means being able to survive.

Because as long as they stayed in the Spirit Forest, these spirits would protect them. The Church probably didn't want to clash with the Spirit Forest, and given Benny's stance, they left them there to some extent to prevent them from getting in the way.

"I'm going downstairs," Deedri said, then began to tidy her appearance in front of Xiaobai.

Well, as a guy who usually gains attention by wielding a big sword, perhaps chatting with him might help a girl stall for time in situations like this.

Xiao Bai, standing nearby, couldn't do anything like that, even though she was slightly prettier than Deedri. But he recognized Xiao Bai; she was already familiar to him because she worked at the church.

The same applies to Spider-Man and Lady; those two were probably under close surveillance as well, which is why that guy would recognize them.

But it's different for me. I hate to admit it, but I really don't have the fighting strength that the church would take a liking to. I'll just pretend I don't know them, and then when we meet, I'll trick them into going for a drink.

There's no other way, so this is the only way that seems slightly more plausible. What else can we do? Really carry the knife next to us and look over there? Forget it, you could count the number of people in the whole world qualified to do that on two hands.

Thinking this, she jumped down from the tree, waiting for him to pass by.

Xiaobai hesitated for a moment, then she roughly understood what Deedris meant. She had already slightly tidied up her appearance, and as a rather voluptuous woman, she was certainly qualified to use this kind of seductive tactic.

I don't know if it will work on that guy. Even though it's just to trick him into having a drink, the success rate isn't high.

Dedeline pretended to be taking a walk, watching the guy appear not far away.

She was slightly taken aback when she appeared.

Unlike how he looked from a distance, back then I thought this guy looked a bit fierce.

But upon closer inspection, this guy strangely gave off a friendly vibe. He was also a bit short, even shorter than the little spider, and looked somewhat thin.

While she was lost in thought, their eyes met.

Both of them paused for a second, and Deedri realized she should say something.

“Deedris the Dragon Slayer? It’s an honor to meet you here.” The Arbiter nodded to her from afar: “I express my heartfelt gratitude for your contributions to humanity.”

Um?

Dedeline was completely dumbfounded, watching the guy stand in front of her, making a handshake gesture.

"Hello, hello..." Deedley blurted out, then shook his hand, completely stunned.

When did she become famous enough to be remembered by the saints? That doesn't make sense. Although there aren't many, she must have at least several hundred mercenaries, right?

Could it be that this guy had made preparations before he came?

This is terrible! I was trying to pretend to be a weak woman, but what's the point now? This guy can already slash dragons with a knife, so I can't pretend to be someone who can't even open a bottle cap.

Her mind was in a mess as she watched the guy let go and continue walking with Mu Xin.

Dedely turned her head and saw Mu Xin meet her eyes.

“I’ll keep an eye on this guy,” Mu Xin conveyed through the mental link: “This guy knows you.”

Dedeline's lips curled up slightly, and for some reason she felt inexplicably honored.

However, this was nothing surprising to him.

Because there was a book that told the story. She probably couldn't have imagined, even if she racked her brains, that there was a surviving teammate from that mission who wrote a series of books with himself as the protagonist. Where he used to live, there wasn't even a proper library, and after becoming a saint, he spent all his time reading these books.

In his eyes, this was a lucky time because he encountered the characters in the book and felt joy because of it.

"Are you the Demon King?" he asked the boy in front of him casually, noticing that the boy seemed a little embarrassed when he turned around.

"Sorry, I haven't registered with the church yet," Mu Xin said cautiously. This guy was someone they had never seen before, and they didn't know what kind of temper he had.

"Seeing me is considered registration," the adjudicator said. "I will handle the formalities for you later."

"Thank you," Mu Xin said, feeling a little surprised.

It was prepared to fight from the beginning. Although it still vividly remembered being instantly defeated by Benny last time, this time, the strongest forces in the entire Spirit Forest had gathered here, so it should not be in a situation where it could not even delay and had no way to win again.

But this guy doesn't seem to have any intention of fighting. He seems to really just be a tourist, a traveler who doesn't need to be taken seriously.
