Chapter 108
A white cocoon; when this thing appears, the world is silent.
Even the chaotic realm came to a standstill, and the vast forbidden zone of life became as silent as a safe zone.
Although everyone knows that this kind of inherent chaos is not true peace, anyone can sense that something is wrong. Seriously wrong, like a nightmare, only all too real.
"Hey, hey, hey, this is getting a bit out of hand." Cold sweat trickled down Chullier's forehead, dripping onto the city wall.
Discomfort and everything else were completely pushed to the back of my mind; only fear remained. Normally, the body would react instinctively to something like this, such as fighting back or doing something else. In other words, the action started before the thought even began.
But now, there's only one possible reaction from my whole body: escape, escape at all costs.
It wasn't a question of whether I could survive; that seemed more terrifying than death itself. It was an inexplicable feeling, far surpassing the fear of death.
I'm just afraid, for no reason.
His hand lightly brushed against his waist, where a dagger lay. He didn't know why, since using a dagger at this distance seemed like overkill. But he still wanted to find the location of his dagger.
That's because there's a sense of crisis, as if that thing is right in front of you, even though it's currently far away.
They really are so far away, it feels like there's a whole world between them. Yet they also seem so close, like we're dancing cheek to cheek.
That was a monster; I can't think of any other adjective. Compared to it, any other monster seems normal. It was a monster that shouldn't exist; the right thing to do upon seeing it was to eliminate all possibility of its existence.
The original object slowly collapsed to the ground. In this somewhat chaotic space, it had appeared to float only due to unstable gravity. Now that things had inexplicably returned to normal, it couldn't support its extremely heavy weight and could only fall to the ground.
But there was no groaning; he just lay motionless on the ground.
He didn't die, because the magic core was still there. As long as that thing was still there, this guy wouldn't die.
It was very weak, as if it had no bones at all. But without bones, it wouldn't be so sturdy; that thing shouldn't be something that could be so easily blown away by the wind.
"Alert!" he shouted, forcing himself to overcome his fear as he slashed his wrist off the dagger, grabbed the pistol below, and fired overhead.
Those are blank cartridges; the wind element they contain generates enough pressure at the moment of firing to produce a loud sound.
This shock jolted normal humans awake from their fear. These heavily armored warriors now truly understood that their armor could not protect them from terror.
Even dolls were affected by i; things that shouldn't have had emotions were now taught important emotions.
A series of booming sounds followed, and a barrage of artillery fire, far more intense than before, rained down. No one dared to aim; they simply fired all the projectiles they had in front of them.
The monster's body began to explode, densely packed like a hundred flowers blooming.
"Hey, hey, we're still here!" Dedeline frowned and stood in a relatively safe spot, covering her ears.
The sound of the explosion and the wind pressure made her lose her balance, and she felt like she was about to fall even if she stood up, so she had to sit on the ground.
She was also injured and couldn't run far; blood streamed down her cheek.
Its horn had just been struck, and the broken end was still bleeding. It was difficult to bandage; all we could do was sprinkle some powder to prevent the area from decaying.
The deafening sounds of gunfire were everywhere, and even my eardrums started to bleed.
Her vision was blurry, and the excessive blood loss had left her somewhat disoriented. But she had to force herself to stay alert, because danger lurked right in front of her, and resting now would be tantamount to dying.
"To die here would be too terrible," Dedeline thought. Her head began to throb, a pain she found unbearable.
However, the other guy was clearly unconcerned; perhaps such people were rare here. He showed absolutely no fear, unaware of the perilous situation. He simply stood there, completely oblivious.
They're monsters too. These guys are all monsters, and these monsters aren't afraid of each other.
Of course, Deedris herself is a monster in a way, after all, she's a demon. Her own power, in a sense, is something that needs to be feared.
However, no one was afraid of her.
"What should we do now?" Lady seemed to be asking herself.
"You're asking me? Of course I don't know either," Dedeline said, looking a little troubled. Even this fearless girl didn't know what to do. Let alone Dedeline herself, who was now feeling suffocated by this fear.
I just want to escape, though I don't know where to go. But I absolutely can't stay here. I have to leave, I have to go somewhere that monster isn't here.
However, by the time they had figured out where to go next, the gunfire had already stopped.
The people on the city wall stared at the monster, feeling a chill run down their spines.
It was a white cocoon made of spiderwebs, revealed to everyone after the monster's body had been breached by artillery fire.
The white spiderweb remained motionless, even though the surrounding monsters' bodies were riddled with holes from damage.
There were absolutely no signs of damage, even after being cleansed by artillery fire.
Yak slowly got up. It had been somewhere and was only now showing itself in a place where no one would notice it.
It gazed at the white spiderweb from afar and sighed helplessly.
That little thing has now become something I don't know what it is, so terrifying, it has truly become a monster.
The cocoon began to move, and four long, black legs pierced through it. What should have been the hairy legs of a spider had now transformed into a metallic-like texture.
The cocoon suddenly turned blue and then expanded at a visible speed. Then, with a loud bang, it exploded. The cocoon exploded.
When the blue mist dissipated, everyone saw what had emerged from the cocoon.
It was a boy, a boy who had barely reached adulthood. The guy was half-crouched on the monster's body, and from behind its white body, four extremely long, metallic spider legs grew out of its cervical spine.
The people on the city wall looked at the guy, and the guy looked back at the people on the city wall. Neither of them spoke; they remained silent.
“Cresen?” Dedeline, who was closest to the guy, was stunned, because although his aura and appearance had changed drastically, many of his features still made it clear that this was Spider-Man Cresen.
But she didn't continue speaking. Instead, she slowly stepped back and gripped the greatsword tightly in her hand.
This creature was vastly different from the little spider in my memory; in fact, it was almost unbelievable that it was the same little spider. There was absolutely no resemblance whatsoever; it was probably just a similar monster.
After all, it was a creature that exuded a dangerous aura from head to toe; just by standing there, one could feel the pressure emanating from it.
“It’s me.” Krisen was also staring blankly at his own appearance, and looked at Deedri, who was ready to rush up and stab him at any moment, feeling puzzled.
Did he do something wrong? He wondered, somewhat puzzled, but had no idea what he had done wrong.
Perhaps, just as I think, my very existence is a mistake.
Qiu Li'er slowly raised her hand, looking at the expressionless boy there.
Although I don't know if it's something familiar, that thing has to die here.
The artillery fire roared once more. The little spider turned around blankly, staring at the barrage of artillery fire. He had done nothing, simply standing there like a prisoner awaiting his execution.
It instinctively put its hands in front of it, and its spider legs behind it started moving on their own, moving through the air at an extremely fast speed, cutting and exploding any projectiles before they hit it.
The intense artillery fire continued for another half hour, requiring no command; all the firepower was poured into that direction.
And so, it was as if a raging fire had broken out there; the entire city could hear the booming cannon fire, and the entire city could see the flames outside the city walls. The entire city, the entire city, could feel that profound, agonizing fear. The heavy fear seemed to threaten to crush them completely.
After a full hour of artillery barrage, only a huge crater remained. It was completely empty; from the monster's body to the boy, it was as if nothing had ever been there.
Perhaps only the half-dead monster lying to one side is still alive; this guy remembers everything that happened.
......
"Hey, hey, hey? You just killed the little spider like that?" Dedeline tried to rush up to argue, but was stopped by someone.
Her entire body was covered in wounds, bandaged up like a mummy. But this stuff did absolutely nothing to quell her raging temper.
This girl was really angry; judging from her expression, she looked like she had just been crying. If you didn't know what she had just done, you would probably think that she had just come from the front lines and was demanding an explanation for someone named Little Spider.
But nobody wanted to pay attention to her, because there were just too many things to deal with right now.
There were so many wounded; if it weren't for Karl, things would have definitely turned out badly by now. Fortunately, a high-ranking priest is here and helping to treat the wounded, preventing a mass corruption.
Even so, the situation is not optimistic. Too many people are injured, and just by staying here, you can see the wounded being carried out.
The exact amount of military equipment lost in the battle against that giant monster is unknown. All that is known is that this place is now filled with wounded soldiers. Naturally, no one will pay her any attention.
The main reason is that they lack courage. Even though these creatures are capable of fighting large monsters, they are still terrified of that thing. The appearance of the little spider really made it feel like the end of the world had already happened.
Only Deedris knew what had happened. The final barrage of artillery fire completely enveloped her within the area, and if it weren't for Spider-Man shielding her from the massive damage, she would probably be dead by now.
Thinking about it that way, that guy could be considered my savior. These guys are completely unreasonable and show no mercy to anyone who could harm them.
I really don't know whether to say that this kind of handling without any room for compromise is good or bad, but regardless of whether it's right or wrong, Dedely is now extremely angry and insists on getting an explanation from someone.
Of course, she didn't know if Spider-Man was dead or not. The gunfire and blood loss had rendered her unconscious, and she had no idea what had happened afterward. She only saw Ark waiting for her to wake up when she opened her eyes. He sat beside her, saying nothing.
What an infuriating guy! I hate guys who never say a word. He always has this aloof, unapproachable air about him.
What was even more infuriating was learning that these guys hadn't made any move regarding eliminating the little spiders. For Deedris, nothing could be more infuriating.
So he rushed over before his wounds had even healed, wanting to find the person in charge and give them a piece of his mind.
But she didn't see those guys until she saw Ghost Duke return with the rats after dinner. It seemed those guys really were as ruthless as she had imagined. They were willing to disregard all restrictions as long as they achieved their goals, and naturally, they could do anything without any psychological burden.
Moreover, seeing Ghost Duke made me angry; this guy looked completely bewildered, holding a skewer of meat in one hand and a girl I'd never seen before holding his other hand.
"Are you trying to die?" Dedeline cursed him the moment she saw him, showing no mercy.
Ghost Duke stood there, stunned, not knowing what had happened.
In reality, he genuinely didn't know, and the reason the rat was holding his hand was because he felt fear. The reason he still had meat skewers in his hand was because that was all he had for dinner.
Upon seeing Deedri, he felt as if he had done something wrong. Deedri had always been portrayed as a somewhat uninhibited, bossy woman. While Ghost Duke wasn't particularly interested in liking her, he still found her reliable.
But when he actually saw a guy covered in wounds cursing at him, Ghost Duke still felt that he had done something wrong.
"What's wrong?" That was all he could ask, because he truly knew nothing.
Then he was punched hard in the head, and he was knocked to the ground without any ability to resist. As he fell to the ground, the rat squeaked.
Dedeline had no interest in hitting the girl, so she turned to leave.
Just then, he saw Ark standing in front of him.
“He really knows nothing,” Acton paused, then said, “You shouldn’t have hurt him.”
