Chapter 233 Civil War (1)

Chapter 233

When the benevolent one returned, it was already evening.

Ghost Duke followed behind, unusually silent.

He's a little sleepy, he'll feel tired, although he won't die, and not sleeping won't cause any problems. But he'll still feel tired when he doesn't sleep.

I'm so sleepy I don't want to talk nonsense anymore.

"Aren't you going to bring her money?" He suddenly remembered that his job was to tell jokes to make her happy, and if she didn't say anything, she wouldn't need to support him: "She's a very beautiful person. I would be happy if I could have a girl working with me."

“There’s no need to force yourself to say something if you haven’t thought of a witty remark. I was just joking.” The Benevolent One casually stopped Ghost Duke from continuing this futile endeavor: “You’re already useful enough. There’s no need to try to prove yourself.”

"Huh? Really?" Ghost Duke paused, scratching his head a little embarrassedly. "Although I don't know why, I'm still very happy."

“This is a compliment you deserve, and I’m planning to prepare a gift for you. Is there anything you want? Try asking, and I’ll try my best to fulfill it.” The benevolent one said with a gentle smile, “This is also what you deserve.”

"I don't know what I've done that deserves a reward," Ghost Duke said somewhat embarrassedly.

"You've already far exceeded my expectations by warming my lonely heart. If I had known you existed earlier, my life might have been completely different." The benevolent one turned to look at him and said with a smile, "Thank you so much."

Ghost Duke rubbed his nose and turned his head away a little embarrassedly.

“I’m not good at dealing with these kinds of questions,” he admitted. “I don’t know how to answer them.”

"Haha, you have your embarrassing moments too." The benevolent one turned his head and said, "By the way, to answer your question earlier, it's not that I don't plan to bring Xiaobai back, it's that she doesn't want to come back. That girl doesn't want to be restrained by me, right? She's someone who can't be kept at home, she deserves freedom."

"Huh? That sounds really touching," Ghost Duke thought to himself, tilting his head to look elsewhere.

Suddenly, he felt as if he had bumped into something, the soft touch startling him. He was jolted back two steps, then looked at the benevolent one who had suddenly stopped moving.

"Sorry." Ghost Duke hesitated for a moment, wondering if bumping into him like that was taking advantage of him.

“A rat has sneaked into the central church,” the Benevolent One said softly. “And a busybody has come along too.”

Ghost Duke paused, staring at the figure slowly approaching from the horizon.

The golden spears left long trails on the ground as a certain ghost lord, someone he truly knew, blocked their way.

That's the Arbiter; this guy is standing there, blocking their way back.

"Good evening, it's quite a coincidence to meet you in the wilderness." The Benevolent One frowned. "Do you look like you've come to chat with me?"

"I've been entrusted to do this, so I'll keep you here until dawn," the adjudicator said softly. "I don't want to explain further."

"Looks like you stole the Demon God's Seal." The Benevolent One tilted his head and looked at him. "But I don't understand why you're here. You're a saint, shouldn't you be stopping them?"

“I am merely exercising my justice.” He pointed his spear at the Benevolent: “I have never considered punishing you as unjust.”

"Ahem, brother, we just came back from a freezing place. How about we at least go to a warm place for tea?" Ghost Duke suddenly blocked the way for the two men, and Benevolent One stared blankly as he walked over.

The man then approached the Arbitrator: "I will persuade my master not to disturb you before dawn, but could we please rest in the city? You know, there's still some time before morning. I don't think it's a good idea to linger here."

"Why are you here?" The Arbitrator, who recognized who it was, was stunned. He had set off on a mission half a year ago, so he did not know that Ghost Duke had become a subordinate of the Benevolent One.

"As you can see, I am now one of you." Ghost Duke displayed his monk's robes: "We are all on the side of the gods, why should we fight each other?"

"I'm just correcting the mistakes I've made in my own way," the adjudicator replied expressionlessly, without joy or sorrow.

"Using new mistakes to fill old ones?" Ghost Duke tilted his head in confusion. "Have you been through something?"

Ghost Lord wanted to say something more, but by the time he came to his senses, he had already switched places with the Benevolent One. She stood where she had been standing, her hand tightly gripping the wrist of the hand chop he had brought out.

Just before the merciful one crushed the judge's wrist, the judge instantly distanced himself.

"Junior, is this your justice?" The benevolent one smiled helplessly, then tossed his robe to the Ghost Lord behind him: "Hold this for me, I don't want to go back naked later."

Ghost Duke didn't answer, but just watched the guy inside, who was only wearing a long dress, slowly move forward, then stretch and his skin glowed with an eerie light.

There was no way to reach an agreement; this guy was just looking for trouble. He was fully prepared for battle, and from the very beginning, he had been ready from head to toe.

There's nothing to talk about with guys who come here just to fight.

She took a step and landed on the ground, the sonic boom mingling with the sound of the earth cracking like thunder. The sound of her fist slamming into the spear was exactly like the sound of a meteorite hitting the ground.

In an instant, the two were hundreds of meters apart. The benevolent one looked at his severed arm, which was completely restored in the next second.

The adjudicator landed far away, panting heavily.

When he looked up again, the Benevolent One had already disappeared from the distance. Before he could even hear the sound, he saw a hole in the ground and the horizontal kick landed on the spear that was lying beside him.

On the plain, dozens of holes were carved out in an instant.

The Arbiter silently pondered how to deal with the Benevolent Ones, seeking advice from the Immortals. Rocks and strange objects appeared everywhere, forming a defensive line around his body.

From the very beginning, he was prepared to fight against the benevolent.

The benevolent fight using physical skills, spells, and divine magic.

Her ability has no destructive power, but her recovery speed is so fast that it's practically invincible.

That's how it seems. In reality, even if she attacked with each punch at the cost of her arm being shattered by the recoil, she still couldn't compete with the referee in terms of physical strength.

She's not a combat-specialized saint; it will take her at least some time to defeat me.

......

Fei coughed up a mouthful of blood. Before the twisted monster could even twist its body, Deedri pierced through it with her greatsword.

His entire body was being consumed, black flames burning all over him. The man tried to struggle, but he couldn't do anything at all.

He could only struggle, but the moment his hand touched the sword, it was burned to ashes. He was burned to death every second, and then resurrected again.

The pain was almost endless.

It was extremely quiet; he didn't even scream or struggle.

Lady watched him from the side, sighing softly, unsure of what to say.

This guy caused them a lot of trouble back then, but now he can't even put up a fight.

It was somewhat of a revenge tactic; this guy had really messed them up back then. Lady and Carl were completely overwhelmed by it and couldn't even mount an effective counterattack.

Apart from it, there are no other defenses here.

There wasn't a single saint in sight, only their servants.

Their lineup consists of the combined strength of two demon kings and a saint, which is more than enough for infiltration.

“I didn’t expect it to be this easy,” Dedeline said softly. “I thought I’d have to deal with at least one saint.”

“At least there will be guardians here for now,” Karl said. “Let’s get out of here before we wake the old man.”

"Hey, hey, stop chatting." The child following behind muttered softly, "I'm not sure how much longer I have to live."

He was nameless, and had direct access to the Benevolent Ones' underground prison.

Strictly speaking, the teleportation went astray, and everyone got stuck inside the stone. However, for those whose physical abilities were stronger than the stone, it only created a few gaps in the wall.

The defenses are surprisingly weak. Despite the importance of this place, the only combat force we can count on is that monster called "Useless".

Then, the place became almost deserted.

After all, no one had been able to infiltrate the church for a thousand years. With two saints usually here, who would have thought someone would come?

Moreover, this is where benevolent people store their grotesque hobbies, and nobody wants to come here to see them. Being able to accept something doesn't mean being willing to accept it.

The path down was blocked by Lady's black keys; it would be no easy feat to forcibly break through such a metal.

The three of them fell silent, and Lady stood guard at the door.

All they need to do is bring Lori to Wuming's side, and Wuming will take Lori away directly.

Lady had made it clear from the start that she had no intention of going back. By covering the rear, she could buy time if anyone suddenly appeared.

Karl walked at the front; after all, he was a high-ranking clergyman, so if he encountered anyone from the church, he could force an explanation.

As they walked through the dungeon, even though they were mentally prepared, none of them could remain calm after seeing what was on either side.

This place is probably hell, with instruments of corporal punishment everywhere.

There was no one there, or rather, those things could no longer be called people.

When the last door was pushed open, there was deathly silence.

When the sounds of the door closing disappeared, all you could hear was your teammates' heartbeats.

Nameless turned pale and slowly backed away, while Karl and Deedri remained silent.

Dedely instinctively covered her mouth. She had prepared herself mentally, but when she actually saw it, shock was an understatement to describe her feelings.

Carl was completely dumbfounded, not knowing how to deal with this situation.

If Lori had already been turned into this state, he didn't know whether he should kill her or save her.

They stood there, seemingly glued to the spot, unsure of what to do next.

“If she’s like that too, we can just take the Demon God’s Seal with us.” Dedeline patted Karl on the shoulder: “Living like this will only leave you with suffering.”

Carl didn't speak; he just stood there.

Dedeline froze again, this time feeling only an uncontrollable chill throughout her body.

The sound of the cane hitting the ground echoed underground, and the three of them stared wide-eyed as the old man stood there in front of them.

He wore a simple priest's robe, a smile on his aged face, his hands clasped together on his cane, his eyes slightly cloudy.

An old monster, whose lifespan is unknown, is standing here—this is completely unexpected.

The arbitrator clearly stated that the elderly man, due to his age, would generally not leave his personal living space.

He had no idea this guy would come out of the Central Church since he entered it.

While she was in a daze, Deedris's hair was suddenly whipped up by a howling wind, and a cylindrical black key grazed her head.

The black key, accelerated to its maximum speed at this distance, is the highest attack Lady can imagine; even the Arbiter would be injured.

Regardless of why it appeared here, it is definitely an enemy.

If they are enemies, then we must attack them.

But it stopped right in front of the old man, the black key suddenly stopped, and hovered in mid-air.

The black key, powerful enough to pierce through hundreds of meters of rock, stopped abruptly. Something incomprehensible was happening before her eyes, and Deedris could only draw her greatsword.

"Everyone, I can give you a chance to repent." He suddenly spoke, his voice very soft: "The Demon God Seal should not be something you possess."

But nobody listened. Deedri leaped and ran across the rooftops, then swung her knife at bizarre angles.

At that moment, Lady entered the semi-circular space where the jars were stored from the doorway.

She slid down to her knees, throwing out two-digit numbers of black keys. After hitting the wall and getting stuck, she used her ability to pull the old man towards her, and the previous attacks flew towards him from all directions again.

The high-powered firepower covered almost every blind spot, but it had no effect whatsoever; he didn't even move.

A thin membrane, as thin as a cicada's wing, surrounded him in a semi-circle, rendering all attacks ineffective.

Dedeline tried to escape from this strange creature, but was instead struck by the expanding protective barrier, and was thrown out as if hit by a hammer.

She had already used all her strength, but even the full strength of a demon king couldn't make him tilt his head to look at her.

She fell into the wall, the same membrane pressing down on her.

She was trapped inside the wall, the flames had burned away the air, and she was suffocating in disbelief.

Something almost too thin was pressing down on her, and she couldn't even resist.
