Chapter 147 Man-made Disaster (3)

Chapter 147

Lori ran through the city streets, tears streaming down her face and falling to the ground.

Is anyone there? Is anyone there?

She shouted this, then bumped into a rock and fell to the ground, then started running again.

We can't stop, or we'll die.

The houses behind her were pierced one by one, and metallic bones shot out from all directions, trying to penetrate her body.

This shouldn't be happening, this shouldn't be happening.

Lori gasped for breath, and then a fist suddenly shot out from in front of her and landed hard on her stomach.

It was as if the air itself was being reversed; after being blasted through the wall, she lay amidst the ruins.

Then a bright light suddenly burst from the side, clearing away the stones blocking the way.

Even so, it didn't break through the long bones inside. It just shifted back and continued to cut open Lori's calf. The bones in her cervical spine grew wildly and cut off the part from her calf down.

"Ah!" She was about to scream in pain when her mouth was covered and she was picked up.

"If you want me to get killed too, keep yelling!" Lady picked her up, drew her musket from her waist, and fired, knocking away the bone spike that had grown out.

"What the hell is this?!" Lady yelled, shoving Lori away. "Even if you don't have legs, keep running! If you stop, you're dead!"

As she said this, two more clones rushed out from the left and right, blocking Lori's way before she could stand up from the ground.

Then both of them were pierced at the same time, and before Lori could be further damaged, the two guys grabbed the bone to stop her from continuing her thrust.

Lori tried to get up from the ground, tears streaming down her face as she cried in pain.

Because her entire leg was damaged, the immense pain made her feel like she wanted to faint.

It shouldn't be like this.

Let's go back to about thirty minutes ago, or even more recently.

She was sitting on the steps by the door, and Carl was in front of her trying to complete her enrollment procedures.

However, she was unsuccessful because she could not produce valid identification.

I originally planned to learn some spells to protect myself.

It seems like there's no chance now.

“They won’t accept me as a student here.” Lori looked at his somewhat dejected expression and said softly, “It’s okay, even if I learn sorcery, it won’t be of any use.”

"Yes, that's what I thought, that humans would teach you spells."

Carl chuckled self-deprecatingly and rested his head on his hand.

The main reason is probably because I am human, so the first thing I think of is that the fastest way for humans to become stronger is to learn spells.

However, it seems unlikely, given the lack of consideration. The training period for incantations is not short, and the training period for divine magic is even longer.

It's too late to learn how to protect yourself now.

Furthermore, if Lori's identity is now confirmed, then those who deal with her next will at the very least be those below the rank of high-ranking priest.

It's impossible for them to improve their strength to deal with pursuers; they will only use the most conservative methods to resolve this danger.

After all, those who have come here now are saints. Although they are saints who have come to help them, to be precise, they are only saints who have come to help Ark.

But they are still saints, and if they allow saints to come, then it's not impossible for another one to come next.

I am not so arrogant as to think that I have the right to stop the saints when they come.

"We have no choice but to run," Carl said, rubbing his temples. "Do you know where we're going next?"

"have no idea."

"The gathering place of the elves is inhabited by three sages, the Elf King, and twelve warriors," Karl said after thinking for a moment. "At least there is a Demon King there, as well as three Chaos Calamities. The number of calamities was seventy in the recent registration."

"With ample high-level combat power, even saints couldn't do whatever they wanted there. Is that what you're trying to say?" A rat had appeared beside him without him noticing.

The mouse looked at Karl sitting next to it: "Seriously, what do you take the saints for?"

Karl was stunned when he saw the thing. Then he suddenly felt a chill.

“Lori, run!” he whispered, patting Lori on the shoulder.

Lori turned her head and looked in the direction Karl was looking.

A strong sense of discomfort made her feel pain in her stomach, and an uncontrollable sense of fear made her tremble uncontrollably.

It was something lying on the roof. It looked like a person in front of it, but if it had heads growing all over its back, calling it a person was really a bit hard to believe.

There was no doubt that it was a monster, but he didn't even notice the rat's presence until it appeared right in front of him.

Suddenly, five bone spikes shot out from the ground, cutting open Karl's entire body.

"Karl!" Lori stared in disbelief as Karl grabbed the bone spurs, his hand enhanced, and crushed them.

“I told you to run!” Karl shouted.

Only now did he realize something was wrong, or rather, there was nothing wrong at all. It should have been a busy morning, but right now, there was no one there.

He pulled the bone spurs out of his own body and threw them on the ground.

It's truly shameful that I didn't notice something so obvious.

The huge square was completely deserted.

I didn't even see anyone at the door when I was doing the paperwork.

However, no sense of incongruity was found.

This is a strange space, just as strange as the space I was in before.

Fortunately, since this isn't a normal place, there's no need for me to suppress my abilities anymore.

Holy magic erupted from his body; as a priest, he possessed a considerable amount of holy magic.

The armor instantly attached itself to the body, and the equipment that originally existed within the divine runes was released, with a huge book and an armed iron rod held in hand.

"Your fingers are useless? Looks like you're no ordinary priest." The monster on the roof slowly stood up; its face was long since withered. Every bone in its body cracked as it moved.

The enormous Bible stood upright, driven into the ground. As Karl kicked open the cover and chanted divine verses, the hammer-like stick in his hand was hurled. The force of the blow created a momentary vacuum in the air, instantly obliterating several buildings in front of him.

At the same time, as the divine incantation finished, a golden cross appeared before him, and then, the instant it was crushed, a burst of light emanating from the monster converged into a beam of light.

Carl raised his hand and retrieved the thrown hammer before the explosion ended, looking at the monster that had turned to ashes.

"Not as strong as it looks," he said, somewhat puzzled, turning to look at Lori.

But now she's no longer behind me.

"Priest, please wait here."

The monster appeared behind Karl at some point: "I'm here to retrieve the demon. Don't let my appearance fool you, I'm from the Church. I'm just here to kill that child, it has nothing to do with you."

"What?" Karl realized he had made a mistake, but when he tried to ask further, he could no longer find the person.

Here, there was no city; the colors had faded, leaving only a massive church with a white floor. He stood in the center, and all he could see around him were white walls...

“A created space?” Karl was stunned for a moment before he understood the structure of the place. At the same time, chains that surged from all directions fixed him in place.

But before it could be secured, it broke free instantly, and he spun around dramatically, sweeping his leg out with a whip kick.

And it hit hard; at least judging from the reaction in my feet, it hit.

Cracks instantly appeared all over the white ground, and even the seemingly indestructible surface collapsed simultaneously. This was an attack relying purely on brute force.

That lump of stuff was slapped against the wall and then slammed into it.

Karl took a deep breath, stuck the large book in front of him, and then threw the iron rod to the ground.

This guy isn't a match for explosive combat, so the divine arts, which consume more energy than physical techniques, should be shown and left aside.

"It's amazing that you can use fighting techniques so skillfully while wearing such heavy armor." It was that deformed monster's voice again. He walked out from behind the rubble. The disgusting thing had somehow grown a hard exoskeleton all over its body.

He looked a little uglier than before, but Karl had no intention of backing away. He then approached him without exchanging a single glance.

A real punch, a truly solid strike.

The ground, which was used for leverage, and the walls, which were used for support, collapsed simultaneously, and the uneven space walls exposed behind them were not as aesthetically pleasing as white bricks.

"That's outrageous! We finally finished decorating this place." The monster that was hit head-on had a huge hole in its body, but in an instant, more and stronger exoskeletons grew out of it: "Lord Karl, you are a priest of our church, and this is a church. Is it not respectful to the gods to fight in a place like this?"

"Then shouldn't you also show more respect for the gods? The way you are now is really disgusting."

As Karl said this, he grabbed the man's neck and executed a beautiful back throw, crushing all the bones in his body with sheer force: "So how exactly do you want to die?"

"Who knows?" In just a short while, the thing seemed to have healed its wounds: "Maybe it will never die."

"Purpose?"

“Arrest or kill Miss Lori.”

"Why."

"You understand the reasons better than I do."

"And here again?"

"I've decorated the solitary confinement cell that the Saint has temporarily lent me quite well, haven't I?"

During the conversation, the guy was thrown out again and crashed into the wall on the other side.

Karl was annoyed by this kind of sluggish thing. This guy didn't seem to be there to kill him; rather, he seemed to be there to hold him back.

He didn't want to think about what was happening to Lori now; it was pointless to think about it. If this guy could hold him off, he must have other ways to hunt down Lori.

Then I can't let myself be dragged out for too long.

However, ever since I saw something like Ghost Lord, I've felt from the bottom of my heart that if I don't have a way to deal with this kind of immortal guy, I'll suffer sooner or later.

First, we need to understand why it can keep recovering – is it physical strength, magic power, or holy magic?

It's not clear yet, but maybe we'll figure it out after beating it a few more times.

The outside world is now in complete chaos.

Lori inadvertently ran out of this space and is now in the city, a real city where people live.

If a battle breaks out in such a place, it will result in enormous chaos.

"What exactly is that thing?" Lady touched the wall, and the house was rebuilt into a fortress, with several stone spikes sticking out like sea urchins.

"Am I an old man? I guess I am."

With all four limbs severed at the same time, Lady tried to turn around, but the withered hand pierced through her body and grabbed her against the wall.

It cut off its own arm as well, leaving it to support Lady, who was being driven away, so that she wouldn't fall to the ground.

Lady's face twitched as she coughed up large amounts of blood. She was a doll created using alchemy, and its human-like structure was causing her so much pain that she was about to faint.

"Little girl, if you want to live, don't use your abilities so carelessly." It actually looked quite aggrieved: "Our tolerance is limited. If I see you using your demonic abilities so casually again, I guess I'll have to..."

Before he could finish speaking, the humanoid figure, who had suddenly sprung up from the ground, braced itself against his shoulder and forcefully shoved a large-caliber musket into his mouth, smashing the withered head to pieces. It was the clone that had been severely injured earlier, using its last bit of strength in this surprise attack.

Lady touched the wall behind her with her remaining arm; dirt climbed up her arm and coalesced into thorns that pierced her knees. The torn ligaments forced her to kneel.

The creature on the verge of collapse grabbed the monster by the neck with both hands. Lady used her hastily trained arms to prop herself up and then landed on top of her.

The ability activated, and a part of the humanoid figure was directly reconstructed into Lady's legs. At the same time, her two arms transformed into long swords that pierced through the monster. Lady sprang up from the spot, the house fused together, and immense pressure pressed in from all directions, squeezing it into a square.

After Lady emerged, a new replacement ran over and was used to reconstruct her body. The remaining parts then coalesced into a pair of spears, which she held in her hands.

"Reconstructing inanimate objects that the body touches? Oh, it seems like anything that doesn't contain holy magic can do that."

The sound came from the square, the stone wall cracked, and the monster, which was not human-shaped, flowed out from inside, with part of its head emerging.

"But you seem quite skilled at it, which is going to cause a lot of trouble. I've been wondering about your handling since earlier; it doesn't feel like that of a human or a monster."

Half a head fell out of the crack, and then, based on this, it transformed into the monster just like before, right in front of Lady.

"You're disgusting," Lady said through gritted teeth. "I really feel nauseous."
