Chapter 230 Transfer of Fortune (2)

Chapter 230

"Maybe my luck has really turned around," Ghost Duke said softly, feeling the warmth from his hand; anyone could see how happy he was.

Walking hand-in-hand with a beautiful girl along a country path, both of them dressed in church uniforms. The monks' and nuns' robes created a scene reminiscent of the Middle Ages.

Is this a date? Is this what a date is? Is this what a date is?

I'll say it three times because it's important.

Haha, my luck has really turned around!

I never thought that I, a single dog for so long, would have a day when I could turn my life around! This is life, isn't it? It is still full of hope.

As Ghost Duke thought this, he felt almost overjoyed, and all his previous worries vanished.

It really resonates with me. I've longed for such a scene for a long, long time: standing beside such a wheat field, together as believers in God, patrolling the fields.

Well... and then at some point, all of that was lost.

"Why did you let go?" the Benevolent One asked Ghost Duke, who suddenly released his hand.

He stood there, looking around.

Ghost Duke still didn't have the courage to continue holding the hand, because he really didn't know if he would feel pain if he had something he didn't want to lose.

A person who has nothing doesn't experience the pain of loss; he always believed himself to be a worthless and incorruptible person.

Could there be a more blatant trap? Someone wanted to make him feel pain, so they set this trap. Come on, he used to be a novelist, okay? Could such a common trick possibly work on him?

Does he still think he can control himself at will? Ghost Duke wanted to laugh at him. That guy was arrogant enough. Although he didn't know which bastard he was, he wasn't qualified to control his own emotions at will.

"Why is there no one else here?" Ghost Duke said softly, feeling that it would be a bit awkward if he didn't say anything.

An indescribable unease pervaded the scene. The wheat field was indeed a beautiful sight, but the absence of other people made it feel eerily strange.

“There’s no need,” the benevolent one said after a moment’s hesitation. “Why do we need other people? Now is neither the time for planting nor the time for harvesting.”

"Really?" Ghost Duke was taken aback. "I thought it needed regular maintenance or something."

"Does your field need constant maintenance?"

"I don't know, I've hardly ever farmed." Ghost Duke didn't want to delve into this point; he was just trying to find a topic to ease the tense atmosphere a bit.

“So, why are we here?” he asked the Benevolent One.

"Nothing, just wanted to take a look." The Benevolent One looked into the distance and said, "I remember you said there might be a disaster soon, right?"

"You actually believed it?" Ghost Duke was stunned. "I really was just guessing."

"Please consider this from my perspective: imagine someone whose predictions are consistently accurate to an almost uncanny degree. Would you believe them after they say something?" The benevolent person smiled helplessly and said, "Do you understand?"

"I roughly understand." Ghost Duke hesitated for a moment before saying, "So right now... you're trying to find a way to become stronger?"

“That’s not something I should be thinking about. I am the Benevolent One, and after becoming a saint, I have spent over five hundred years mastering everything that needed to be mastered. Now, there is no need for me to learn anything new.” The Benevolent One looked at the wheat field in the distance, hesitated for a moment, and said, “Isn’t there a selfish reason behind this? Haven’t I told you? There’s a prerequisite for activating my abilities.”

"It seems like you have to love the person being treated, right? But you also said it depends on your definition of love. As long as it's broad enough, this concept should be easy," Ghost Duke said casually. "Is there a problem?"

“I suddenly don’t want to live anymore. I’ve been thinking about this a lot these past few weeks,” she said softly. “Thanks to you.”

"Huh?" Ghost Duke was stunned: "Have I lived too long?"

“I always thought that the soul would dissipate after death, but your example shows that perhaps God will give me the opportunity to be reborn in other worlds.” The benevolent one hesitated for a moment and said, “I’d like to go to the places you mentioned, so that I don’t have to see hellish scenes every time I open and close my eyes.”

She turned to Ghost Duke and smiled, "But that's really a bit selfish. How could a cruel guy like me possibly have a good ending?"

Ghost Duke remained silent, then sighed helplessly.

“It seems this must be the hell God has given you as punishment.” The Benevolent One looked at the hazy sky, turned around and continued walking. “Didn’t I tell you? There’s a place I really like.”

"That's not how you use the word 'tourist attraction'," Ghost Duke said after a moment's hesitation. He had told her a lot about the places he used to live these past few days, but he hadn't expected her to want to use such words.

"Really? Anyway, it's a place that looks very beautiful."

They walked on like this, and the surroundings began to become desolate. Ghost Lord felt pain because the temperature was getting lower and lower. In the end, the cold air would just blow on his body and cause his skin to crack and create wounds.

But in the realm of benevolence, any wound heals instantly, leaving only pain.

He was a little happy because, according to the Benevolent One, she loved him, at least for now, in a broad sense; otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to activate her abilities like this.

He couldn't make a sound, and Fat felt uncomfortable. Even though the air was so clean it was spotless, it was still damaging his lungs. He coughed violently, and the merciful ones would occasionally stop and wait for him.

After a three-hour journey, they finally arrived at the place the benevolent one had described.

"Perhaps I shouldn't have forced you to come," the Benevolent One said, looking at the Ghost Lord beside him. "I didn't expect you to be so pathetic."

“A minor problem,” Ghost Duke said, but he didn’t look good. Even now, he was bleeding all over because he was really unsuited to this environment.

That's a place of extremely high-pressure chaotic elements, absolutely deadly to both monsters and humans. On the map, it's called the Death Zone; once you enter, there's absolutely no chance of survival.

From the sky, it appears as a massive hollow. Or rather, a mountain with a huge crater carved out of it.

"Legend has it that gods and demons clashed here," the benevolent one said softly. "An unknown amount of time has passed, but this place is still not a place that normal people can endure."

As she spoke, Ghost Lord was already frozen into an ice block behind her. Because he hadn't moved for so long, no tears had formed, so even the Benevolent One had to manually break it.

In the end, Ghost Duke had no choice but to shake the Benevolent One's hand again; otherwise, the visit would have been impossible.

When Ghost Lord stopped feeling pain because of the extreme things here, he suddenly realized that there was nothing wrong with the attractions she mentioned.

If I had to describe it, it's like God's backyard.

It's hard to imagine that there would be flowers in a place like this.

There were still a great many flowers, and they were all twisted and terrifying.

It's so distorted that it possesses a strange kind of beauty.

How can one describe a place where all the flowers seem like tiny animals? It's like stars in the darkness, with every glimpse a tiny point of starlight.

"How beautiful." Ghost Duke thought to himself, looking up at the huge, ice-blue flower, where a girl dressed in a long blue dress was kneeling.

“The monster generation efficiency here is very high,” the Benevolent One said. “It’s a place that needs to be taken seriously. If we follow the pattern of monster generation, several calamity-level monsters will be generated here every day. Fortunately, it’s next to the central church, so even so, it only comes once every few days.”

"Huh? They only produce flowers?" Ghost Duke looked around and saw that there were quite a few humanoid monsters, and they were all cute girls.

"I killed all the ugly ones, leaving only the good-looking and obedient monsters here," the benevolent one casually remarked. "How about that?"

"That's true." Ghost Duke said helplessly. Sure enough, it was about what he thought. How could it only generate good-looking things? Compared to that, it would be much simpler to just eliminate the unattractive things.

A strange light illuminated the place, and in this bizarre biosphere, an indescribable beauty brought a sense of physical and mental pleasure.

"Long time no see." He heard someone speaking, turned his head, and looked at the guy standing not far away.

That was Little White, but it was very different from when she first met it. She appeared before them at some point, looking down at them.

Because beneath her, a huge fox was looking down at the outsiders.

It was a strange white fox, with a row of eyes on each side of its enormous head. Its tail ended in a hard, armor-like shell, similar to a spear.

Xiao Bai, on the other hand, didn't change much. Apart from changing her clothes, she was still the same as I remembered her.

“She needs a place where she can gain magic to become stronger. Clearly, there’s no better place.” The Benevolent One said with a smile, “How about it? You feel much stronger than before, don’t you?”

“It’s pointless. I don’t think I need to keep getting stronger right now,” Bai said softly. “Here, I don’t even have any enemies.”

"Don't do this. I promised to give you a magic mark after you became a Chaos Calamity." The Benevolent One didn't care that Ghost Duke was right behind him. He pulled down his shawl, revealing his snow-white upper body.

Ghost Duke consciously looked away. As a typical person who had lustful thoughts but lacked the courage to act on them, he was quite honest at this moment.

Bai didn't look away, but simply stared at her upper body in silence.

The benevolent man took a dagger from his pocket and handed it over: "Pick whatever you like, dig it up."

It was a body covered in demonic markings; in an instant, countless markings were activated. Her body was covered in strange patterns.

"I don't need it," Bai said softly.

“Then you can consider stabbing me. I know you have a lot of grievances against me.” The benevolent one suddenly pounced on her, pulled Bai into his arms, and then rubbed her head before wrapping his arms around her neck and laughing, “I’ve always saved a place for you here! If you’re willing, I can always reserve a place for you to stay.”

"Thank you for your kindness, but I feel we are not the same kind of people." Bai said softly, "Sir, I really cannot bear it. I'm sorry."

Bai made it very clear that she could not accept what the benevolent people had done to those demons.

Perhaps only a pervert like Ghost Lord, who shares the same stench, could calmly accept the sight of a mangled human body being canned up.

"What a pity." Ren'ai let go of her hand and looked at the huge fox beside her.

This is how Bai, even as a chaotic calamity, can maintain her form; she condenses her excess magic power into this enormous fox. Its composition is a massive aggregate of magic power.

Only in this way can she ensure that her body remains in human form.

Although it's far less powerful than Deedris's, who changed her form, it's completely unnecessary, isn't it? Getting stronger is almost pointless. In fact, having reached this point, what's the point of continuing to get stronger?

“But you’re helping me out now. With you here, at least I don’t have to come here so often to maintain things.” The Benevolent One said softly, “Has anything strange happened here lately?”

"No, it's not that it's not, but is that guy alright?" Bai hesitated, looking at Ghost Duke behind him: "Look... it seems to be stiff."

The benevolent man was stunned, looking at the guy who had shaken off his hand.

He was once again riddled with holes by the magic of high pressure and the excessively cold temperature.

"Perhaps I shouldn't have brought him here. I'm begging you, do you have any way to help him?" the benevolent man asked hesitantly.

"Of all your magical seals, isn't one of them useful?"

"Actually, it's more complicated for me to activate it; I'm just trying to prevent it from being taken away and stored on myself."

Bai paused for a moment, looked at her, and smiled helplessly.

"Won't this thing cause you pain?"

"Is it something like the feeling of limbs being torn apart or cut open? I've used this kind of pain to torture others countless times, so what right do I have to express pain when I have to endure it?" The compassionate one said softly, "I'm just a damned thing."

Bai didn't answer further, but slowly walked over and placed his hand on Ghost Duke's head.

The enormous white fox suddenly materialized and rushed into his body, merging into him in an instant. Yet, he felt no sense of disharmony.

Ghost Duke hesitated for a moment, then tried to slowly stand up.

The surging magic did not enter his body, but instead transformed into a fox fur scarf wrapped around his neck, and a cloak covered his body.

"I used my stored magic to protect you. I don't expect you to cherish it, but at least don't get it dirty with dirt." Bai said softly, "Is there anything else you need here?"

“Actually, I just brought him to see some beautiful scenery.” The Benevolent One looked at Ghost Duke and said, “I remember you said that the only joy you have in this world is having beautiful scenery.”
