Chapter 228
Twelve was starting to regret agreeing to let this girl, who was so pretty it seemed unreal, do whatever she wanted with his clothes.
He sat on the box, enduring the suffocating pain as he looked at everything before him.
Inside the airbag, Lady floated in the air, with scattered metal plates flying around her like a sky full of metal skirts.
Gorgeous and sharp, it formed a stark contrast to the earnest girl in the middle.
He thought she was an incredibly beautiful girl the first time he saw her, but at that time he had a terrible headache and felt like he was going to die. He had no mood to appreciate her stunning beauty in that eerie place.
He rested his head on his hand, contemplating the passage of time, how fleeting it was. The fates of this group were intertwined, though they followed different paths and destinies. Their desires and aspirations differed, making cooperation seem like a joke.
But in the end, they still landed together on this airship. For at least two months, their fates were intertwined. They stood on the same side.
Each clung to a hollow, fleeting hope, mocking each other for upholding what they considered utterly meaningless. Yet, they remained utterly unyielding in the face of their own emptiness, a truly absurd and laughable situation. As an observer, Twelve found them all utterly incomprehensible, like a bunch of naive children.
But there was no way to refute it; they were willing to endure pain and despair to continue. If I were to speak out, and lacked sufficient fighting strength, I would likely be killed.
That's really unpleasant.
Twelve's ears twitched, and he suddenly instinctively drew a knife from his waist and held it next to his ear.
A screw struck his knife, leaving a scratch on the hard blade.
“I’m sorry,” Lady said casually, “but you were in the wrong first. I don’t like being looked at by a man at a time like this.”
"This thing will kill me," Twelve said, looking at the nick in the knife with some displeasure.
The screw's impact was clearly calculated, its target precisely his eye. If it pierced through, it would injure his head.
That was a kill; if he hadn't reacted in time, he would be dead now.
"You are still alive."
"I mean, I almost..."
"You are still alive."
Lady shut him down with this simplest response, looking down at him: "Even now, we're on the brink of death. As long as we're alive, don't talk about how we almost died."
"It's only fifteen centimeters away from my head."
“But life and death are farther than this world,” Lady said softly. “So don’t worry, you are still alive, and the distance between you and death is as vast as the sky.”
Twelve was speechless and could only sigh helplessly before pushing open the door and leaving.
Lady watched him leave, and after a long while, she pointed in that direction.
The floorboards suddenly lifted up, completely blocking the doorway.
This is the second magic seal she has obtained: telekinesis.
Compared to his previous ability to freely manipulate and alter the nature of resources, this ability is relatively weak.
However, she wasn't a monster like Ark; possessing two magic seals simultaneously and bearing the consequences required immense personal strength. Deidre's magic seal costs were offset by each other, and the compensation was a sword. This avoided the consequences.
However, he had to bear the full force of his two magic seals, and their effects were not as good as those of his original body.
There's no other way; after all, I'm not a particularly capable person. I can only resort to some clever tricks.
She took a deep breath and then slowly curled up.
In the air, it seemed as if a long white dress gathered around her entire body, overlapping and repeating.
Her eyes turned deep purple, and she slowly opened her mouth, exhaling black breath.
In an instant, everything in the vast space seemed to come alive.
A strange change occurred: the various makeshift metals slowly turned black and white, and in an instant, the areas that were originally different colors became black and white.
It was a metal that had never been recorded, changing purely according to individual ideas.
This is the result of Lady's months of dedicated exploration of her abilities, and it's simply named Black Keys and White Keys, because they resemble piano keys.
She looked as if she were dying; her eyes slowly turned gray, and she sighed softly.
Around her, black spears were arranged in long rows, while white metal rapidly constructed in the space. In just a short time, it was as if three eras had jumped between them.
The black keys are endowed with extremely weak force effects and the property of being able to be activated by magic. They are also sturdy and heavy, with great inertia.
The force weakens because it directs the force into the space it covers, meaning it can even counteract most gravitational factors. It can then slowly fall while suspended. Being extremely sturdy and force-absorbing, it is a near-invincible shield.
Spears made from this metal can penetrate almost any defense.
White keys are more versatile than black keys; they are lighter and harder. Their properties are more easily altered, and they are both flexible and resilient. They can even be reshaped like clay under Lady's control.
To put it simply, white keys can be changed to black keys, while black keys are essentially irreversible. Although they can be changed again, the energy consumption is relatively high.
White Key, on the other hand, can have additional attributes added to it by Lady at any time, making it a weapon that can be used in all situations.
In theory, it only relies on the white keys, the magic cores that are currently installed all over his body, and two magic seals.
She has transformed herself to the minimum combat strength required for a chaotic catastrophe, and is even capable of fighting certain demon kings.
But Lady knew very well what kind of ruthless beings her enemies were, and therefore needed the Black Key. This metal was originally designed as a weapon to deal with the Saints.
She actually only spent a few days developing the white keys, because it was simply a way of using her own sign. In a place like Nidra, with guidance, she could easily have done it.
The black keys are a necessary tool for dealing with extremely strong enemies. Lady must have her own methods of elimination.
She still remembers that guy called the Immortal; even Benny and Ark couldn't leave a single wound on him.
She had made special preparations for that guy. Although she didn't know if they would be effective, she could only do her best.
She curled up, feeling a little tired.
When she fully activated her magic seal, she could only be in this defenseless state. She fell to the ground, curling up in pain.
This is not her demonic mark; as a price, the demon god will inflict pain upon her in his own way.
It was nothing more than a nightmare, spasms, uncontrollable throbbing pain all over my body, and the tingling, itchy sensation of insect bites.
The scene before her kept switching between hell and the past: heads falling to the ground, limbs shattering and turning into worms on the ground. Or she was immersed in blood, and in the bottomless sea, the enormous body of an indescribable thing pulled her into the deep sea, crushing, tearing, destroying and kneading her together.
At first, Lady resisted, but now she has learned to silently endure it like a corpse. No fuss, no surprise, no oddity. She bears the pain and the agony.
As long as you don't take yourself too seriously, then it doesn't matter if you're treated like this.
"How are you?"
Suddenly, a voice rang out. Lady was pulled back to reality.
Dedeline sat cross-legged beside her, holding her hand.
That wasn't a girl's hand at all; it was a strange object, like a dragon's claw, or a knight wearing a metal glove. Being held brought no warmth or reassurance, only a slight pain.
But I still felt a little bit of joy.
"Thank you," she said softly, just speaking simply, as she coughed heavily, feeling a heavy pressure and pain in her chest as if her ribs were broken inside her flesh.
Dedeline watched silently, a black aura emanating from the knife behind her.
"If the mark were on me, would I become like this?" she whispered.
She looked around and saw that the inside of the entire airship's gasbag had turned black and white.
"This is the price to pay for using your abilities. However, because the sword contains a sealed soul, the demons within will bear the consequences. We are the ones who suffer, not you," came the old man's voice from within.
"Whose soul is sealed inside?"
“An innocent person,” the girl’s voice replied.
"A pure person." The child's innocent voice rang out.
“Foolish man.” That was the voice of an adult male.
"Ugly person," a greasy voice rang out.
"Use language I can understand." Dedeline couldn't stand the greatsword that kept repeating itself incomprehensibly.
"The slain, the forgers, the power-hungry," the harmony returned, an endless chorus of countless voices, like a song: "All those who died by the sword, all those who wielded it, all those who participated in its creation."
"Am I one of them?" Dedeline said casually, but there was no trace of sadness in her voice.
I had already guessed this outcome, and when it was confirmed, I only felt a little empty.
When she accepted the sword, she was already close to death.
She let go of Lady's hand, feeling she had no right to pity her. She knew she might end up even more miserable than Lady.
She sat in the corner and silently ate the magic core that represented the principle of evolution.
This is the magic seal that Spider-Man used before, and now it's in his hands.
She knew perfectly well what kind of monster she was about to encounter, so even if she accepted the sword, her chances of winning were zero.
Since he has returned the magic seal to me, there is no reason not to accept it.
The fairy deer clearly told her that survival was practically impossible, but what did that have to do with giving up? Revenge was something that only required biting hard enough; a mad dog with nothing to lose naturally didn't need to worry about losing its life, it just needed to become even more insane. She was only going for revenge; everything else was irrelevant.
"Feel sorry."
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out the instant she swallowed the demonic seal. Deedri's eyes widened in surprise. The next moment, the back of her sweater was ripped open, and eight hideous limbs grew from her ribs. She coughed up blood, and her eyes turned from black to purple.
The demonization was completed in an instant. As her face was almost filled with black lines, a black exoskeleton formed a hard armor over her entire body. Her waist bent, and bone spurs protruded from her skin at the joints of the bones.
Through the window, the Arbiter silently watched the two men suffering.
His duty is to rid the world of such monsters and take their lives in exchange for world peace.
It was a piece of cake for him; both of them were within his territory, and they would die in the blink of an eye.
But they really didn't want to do it; they were just forced into a corner with no other choice.
Ultimately, if there weren't absolutely no other options, who would want to turn themselves into a monster?
He turned to leave, taking a deep breath to calm himself down.
This will be the first time he has turned against the church.
Regardless of which senior he faced, he had no guarantee of victory. His abilities were utterly inadequate against those of equal rank. His initial struggles were significant, and his subsequent setbacks were even greater. Each of them possessed numerous methods to counter him.
But it doesn't matter, I've already lost all faith in myself. I'll just give it my all, as long as I give it my all.
As the saying goes, with hope in your heart, there is nothing to fear! What is there to fear when only despair remains?
......
"A bunch of inexplicable lunatics." Wuming frowned as he sipped his juice.
“We won’t get involved in this mess. We’ll just drop them off and leave,” Flame reassured him. But even the red demon was a little panicked, looking at Flame, who sat there silently, with a pleading expression.
"I don't know. We're too conspicuous; we might get attacked," he said softly, leaning against the wall, looking lost and dejected.
Those perverts made him unconsciously compare himself to them, and in comparison, he was just a useless person who could only talk a good game.
"Don't think like that. We all have the right to be smart." Xie Ying looked at Twelve as she walked in and smiled helplessly: "You don't look too good."
“I feel deeply uneasy about the fact that we transported such a group of guys,” Twelve said clearly. “After this, we might go back to that city.”
"That city that became a safe zone? I actually wanted to say that when we left. As long as we can prove ourselves useful, they probably won't mind letting me stay." Flame said, resting her head on her hand. "We can survive well there."
"You don't hate humans anymore?" Twelve looked at her with some surprise. "I thought you would object."
"Now I think my past willfulness was ridiculous. Being able to survive is the greatest fortune, and I even hated others." She shrugged. "Now I have a much different view of humans. At least they know how to live well."
