Chapter 61 "Still Like..."
Two years passed in the blink of an eye. Jiang Huaisu had reclaimed several vegetable plots on the back mountain. She had only intended it as an experiment, but the survival rate of the seeds she sowed was unexpectedly high. Nezha showed great interest in this plot of land, searching everywhere for all sorts of novel vegetable seeds and seedlings. He would often go down to the field to tinker with the plants and record their growth.
When spring arrived, Jiang Huaisu built another small house by the apricot grove. After all, the Water Curtain Cave had limited lighting, and occasionally a more open space was needed for resting, drinking tea, or entertaining guests. Nezha, on the other hand, carried out an extravagant expansion of the house. What was originally a simple thatched hut had now been transformed into a luxurious four-courtyard house, large enough to accommodate a football team.
The couple focused on improving their comfort level, and they lived a rather pleasant life.
Despite living in a world overrun by demons, Jiang Huaisu leads a relaxed, Buddhist-style retirement life, experiencing a sense of tranquility reminiscent of a secluded rural retreat. She is extremely satisfied with her current life.
In contrast, Sun Wukong's journey seemed far more arduous. After all these years, he still hadn't reached the Western Paradise. Pigsy, on the other hand, had visibly become much thinner, a testament to the immense hardship of his journey.
That day, Jiang Huaisu sat in the courtyard drinking and flipping through a storybook. Nezha sat next to her drawing, saying that he had recently learned a few skills from his younger sister and wanted to draw a portrait of her to test whether his painting skills had improved.
It was a peaceful afternoon when Sun Wukong unexpectedly appeared, barging in with his golden cudgel, looking extremely angry. It was unclear what had happened on the journey to the West, but his face was unusually sour.
The monkey sat down at the table without saying a word. Jiang Huaisu glanced at him, reached for an empty glass, poured some wine, and pushed it towards him. "What's wrong?"
After a moment's hesitation, Sun Wukong picked up his wine cup and drank it all in one gulp. After a few rounds of drinks, his expression finally softened, and he immediately dropped a bombshell: "That idiot Tang Sanzang."
Nezha: "...Did you drink fake alcohol?"
Although the master and disciple's relationship had never been strictly hierarchical, Sun Wukong always respected his master; at least Jiang Huaisu had never heard him speak ill of Tang Sanzang behind his back. His behavior today was truly unusual; had Tang Sanzang laid him off?
Sun Wukong's expression stiffened: "Never mind, just pretend you didn't hear it. It was my slip of the tongue."
It was a rare occasion for the Great King to return to Flower Fruit Mountain, and a group of monkeys outside were scrambling to squeeze into the courtyard. The bolder little monkeys even jumped onto his shoulders, while others swung on the Golden Cudgel. Surrounded by the crowd, Sun Wukong's expression softened, and he patted the head of the little monkey on his shoulder.
It was obvious to everyone that Sun Wukong was in a bad mood. The monkeys were scrambling to pour wine for their king. They thought that drinking wine would help them drown their sorrows, and that was what Su Su had taught them!
Any wine offered to Sun Wukong was accepted without a second glance, and he would gulp it down in one go, displaying an astonishingly bold and unrestrained manner.
Suddenly, with a loud thud, he lurched forward without warning, his forehead slamming heavily against the table. Jiang Huaisu was startled and quickly got up to check on him. There were no signs of poisoning; he appeared to be simply drunk.
That shouldn't be the case; she remembered that Sun Wukong had a high alcohol tolerance.
Why did I get drunk so quickly today? Could it be that my vegetarian diet has prevented me from building up my alcohol tolerance, and it's actually decreased instead of increased?
Nezha clicked his tongue in disgust, shooed away the panicked monkeys, and nimbly hoisted Sun Wukong onto his shoulder and tossed him into the guest room.
In a daze, Sun Wukong felt something soft and warm on his forehead; it was a hot towel placed there by Jiang Huaisu.
He also heard Nezha's dissatisfied voice: "Let him lie down for a while, he's not that fragile."
That makes sense, but it's rare for Sun Wukong to lose his composure like this. It seems he really suffered some injustice on the journey to the West. Leaving him alone in the house would be too pitiful. Jiang Huaisu pondered, "I watched TV dramas... and I saw that's what other people do. Applying a hot towel can relieve headaches."
“Actually, there’s an easier way.” Nezha glanced at the unconscious monkey on the bed. “Use acupressure to force the alcohol out of his body.”
"Huh?" Jiang Huaisu recalled the past, "Like last time when you beat Xiaotian until he vomited blood, forcing out the toxins from his body?"
"That's right."
"Forget it, let him wake up on his own. Let him rest a bit longer."
"cut."
The faint sound of their conversation reached Sun Wukong's ears, but strangely, it didn't bother him. However, this sleeping position wasn't comfortable, so he turned over. The blanket slipped off the edge of the bed, but was pulled up by a pair of hands and covered up again, tucking it tightly under his chin.
“…Wait a minute.” Nezha’s gaze suddenly caught something, and he leaned forward to turn Sun Wukong back to his supine position.
"Isn't my eye playing tricks on me?" He hesitated for a moment, looking again and again, before slowly saying, "How come this monkey has six ears?"
Jiang Huaisu: "......"
A bad feeling rose in her mind.
Holding her breath, she leaned closer to the bed for a closer look. It was indeed six ears; she hadn't noticed this major flaw before!
Nezha said with great certainty, "It just appeared, right when you covered him with a blanket."
Sun Wukong, lying on the bed, suddenly opened his eyes; he had heard their conversation. After a long silence between himself and the wary Jiang Huaisu, his drunkenness mostly dissipated. He threw back the covers, sat up, and tapped his head: "It was just a transformation technique, I was just too drunk to understand..."
In an instant, his four ears disappeared, and he returned to his normal appearance.
It had six ears and looked just like Sun Wukong. It wasn't hard to guess the monkey's true identity. But she couldn't understand why the Six-Eared Macaque would suddenly appear at Flower Fruit Mountain!
Just as she was about to quietly send Nezha to find Sun Wukong, she heard footsteps approaching outside, as if someone had entered the courtyard.
As the second time, Sun Wukong walked through the gate carrying his golden cudgel.
The little monkeys watching were all dumbfounded: There was a king inside the house, and another king outside?
"Susu!" Sun Wukong's voice preceded his arrival as he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Have you seen...?"
After seeing the scene inside the room, Sun Wukong was taken aback and swallowed the rest of his words.
"I knew I saw you running in this direction." He put on an angry face, grabbed Six-Eared Monkey by the ear, and dragged him off the bed without saying a word. "Impersonating me in front of Master is one thing, but you actually went to Flower Fruit Mountain to impersonate the King. Are you tired of living?"
"Who's impersonating you? I am Sun Wukong, and you're the one impersonating me!"
It's not hard to tell who's real and who's fake anymore. Six-Eared Macaque had already given himself away; a little thought would make it clear that the Sun Wukong who's entered now is the real one. It's unclear why Six-Eared Macaque is still being so stubborn; he doesn't seem very bright.
Just as the two monkeys were about to start fighting, Nezha promptly offered a reminder: "Go outside to fight, don't tear down the house."
Jiang Huaisu took the opportunity to walk behind Sun Wukong and pinned a bird feather under his collar as a mark so that they wouldn't be confused during a fight.
The two monkeys lifted their feet and walked out together, their movements and expressions almost identical.
In terms of imitation alone, Liu Er's ability is indeed impeccable. His skills are also comparable to Sun Wukong's, but when they actually fought, both monkeys seemed to be hesitant, and their fighting style was very conservative. They relied almost entirely on physical skills and did not use any magic, as if they did not want to damage the mountain.
“I can understand why Sun Wukong is fighting so cautiously, after all, this is his hometown... but why is that fake one also fighting so timidly? Does he have to imitate even the way he cherishes Flower Fruit Mountain?” Nezha stood in the courtyard, looking up at the commotion, showing no intention of helping at all.
Although the battle was at a stalemate, there was no sense of tension in the air. The two monkeys were fighting in such a non-aggressive manner that even the onlookers did not sense the slightest bit of killing intent, so they knew that this fight would most likely not result in bloodshed.
Perhaps still under the influence of alcohol, Liu Er stumbled upon landing after his somersault, revealing an opening. Sun Wukong seized the opportunity, striking him with his staff and then shouting to Nezha, "Can I borrow your satin?"
The Hun Tian Ling wrapped around him like a swimming fish, binding Liu Er's wrists, with one end of the knot held by Sun Wukong.
"Let go!" Liu Er stopped pretending and revealed his true colors in a fit of rage, shaking his ears. "Two against one, despicable."
Nezha: "......"
Jiang Huaisu smiled guiltily: "Sorry, actually I controlled the Hun Tian Ling to tie you up."
Liu Er's chest heaved with emotion, and he turned away without saying a word.
Sun Wukong patted his head without hesitation: "Are you still going to fight or not?"
"I'm not fighting anymore!" Six Ears bared his teeth.
Sensing the familiarity in their tone, suggesting this wasn't their first sparring session, Jiang Huaisu became curious and leaned closer to Sun Wukong, whispering, "What's going on between you two?"
“This guy wants to take my place on the journey to the West.” Sun Wukong mocked without any attempt to hide his laughter. “Several times he tried to impersonate me and join the team while I was begging for alms, but he was always exposed.”
Liu Er's imitations look quite convincing at first glance, but due to his strong personal style, they inevitably reveal flaws over time.
The pilgrimage team was fooled once at the beginning. After learning about the existence of the Six-Eared Macaque, they became extremely vigilant. In order to minimize the time Sun Wukong was away from the team alone, the task of begging for alms was entirely handled by Pigsy and Sandy, which made Pigsy suffer a lot and he gave the culprit, the Six-Eared Macaque, a very unfriendly look.
After learning what had happened from Monkey King, Jiang Huaisu suddenly realized why Six Ears had such a sour face when he first entered the courtyard. It turned out that he had once again tried to sneak into the group but was seen through by Tang Sanzang and was chased and beaten by Sun Wukong for two days and two nights.
In Liu Er's eyes, Tang Sanzang was nothing but an old stubborn fool. If that monk had allowed him to join the team, Liu Er would have been far more obedient than Sun Wukong. Wasn't the ultimate goal to obtain the scriptures? Did it really matter whether he was Sun Wukong or not?
A plan formed in his mind. Liu Er thought he would come to Flower Fruit Mountain to rest for a while and take the opportunity to enjoy the treatment of a demon king. Although he knew that Sun Wukong would arrive sooner or later, most people would assume that the one who came later was a fake, right? In this way, he could also make Sun Wukong suffer a setback, which would be perfect.
The only unexpected thing was that I overestimated my alcohol tolerance and got drunk by those bastards!
Looking at the defiant Liu Er, Jiang Huaisu's impression of his low intelligence deepened. He clearly possessed top-tier talent for imitation and keen observation, so why was his brain so weak? In the original story, at least he had to go to the Buddha's presence before being exposed, but now Liu Er had impersonated Sun Wukong and fooled zero people—a task that Sun Wukong could easily overcome without taking any damage.
Liu Er looked utterly despondent. Even though Sun Wukong had untied the Hun Tian Ling for him, he remained squatting on the ground, his back to everyone.
"I won't go looking for that bald monk again." Liu Er suddenly blurted out this sentence, whether it was an angry remark or a declaration of defeat was unclear.
Sun Wukong chuckled: "You better not be lying to me."
I've almost gotten used to Six Ears appearing near the group every now and then, either lying or causing trouble. But this monkey doesn't actually do anything harmful, it's just annoying, like a male mosquito that doesn't suck blood, just buzzing around my ears.
The master and his disciples were worried about what to do with him. Now that he was willing to stop, that was the best possible outcome. However, given his past behavior, the credibility of his words should be questioned.
But it wasn't long before everyone discovered that what Liu Er had said was true. He did indeed stop causing trouble on the journey to the West; he simply changed his location. Instead of impersonating Sun Wukong to try and join the team, he impersonated Sun Wukong to try and enjoy life at Flower Fruit Mountain.
He repeatedly used the excuse of "I'm too tired from the pilgrimage and need to rest for a few days" to come and freeload. But this lie was too easily seen through. After being rebuffed by Jiang Huaisu several times, he simply stopped pretending and revealed himself in his true form as Six Ears, coming over from time to time to ask for a drink. Seemingly still resentful about his accidental drunkenness last time, he devoted himself to improving his alcohol tolerance, aiming to be able to drink a thousand cups without getting drunk.
At first, Nezha was unhappy that Liu Er was eating and drinking for free, and he didn't give him a good look when he came. Moreover, he was too lazy to play the game of distinguishing the real from the fake with Liu Er. Based on the principle of better to kill two innocent people than let one guilty person go free, as long as he saw the monkey's face, he would judge it as a counterfeit Sun Wukong.
This infuriated Six-Eared Nezha. He had clearly given up on impersonating Sun Wukong and had shown all six ears, yet Nezha kept calling him a fake.
"I look just like him. If you can't tell us apart, just look at his ears!"
"Too lazy to look." Nezha deliberately looked away, but Liu Er followed his gaze, keeping himself always within Nezha's field of vision.
"...What exactly are you trying to do by running to Flower Fruit Mountain every day?" Nezha asked impatiently.
"drink wine!"
"Did you pay me before you started drinking?"
These words made Liu Er fall silent for two seconds, as he had indeed never considered this issue before.
The next day, several large boxes appeared in the Water Curtain Cave. Liu Er stood beside them with his arms crossed, indicating that these were his food and drink expenses for the next fifty years, to be paid in one lump sum.
She hadn't expected Liu Er to bring anything valuable, at most some obscure magical artifacts. But when Jiang Huaisu opened the box, she was dazzled by the jewels and gold and silver. She reached out and touched them; they were real gold and silver. She looked him over as if she were seeing him for the first time, and asked hesitantly, "Where...did you get these?"
Nezha used even more direct words: "Where did you steal it?"
"It's mine!" After living for so many years, who hasn't accumulated some savings? Liu Er patted the box and said disdainfully, "These are all things that my defeated enemies sent to curry favor with me. I basically don't need them."
This move was a lucky accident, and Jiang Huaisu actually fell for it. The food allowance Liu Er offered was far above the average price, and besides, he didn't come to freeload every day; it was about once a week. All things considered, she thought it was a great deal.
As a result, Huaguo Mountain gained a regular visitor who always managed to arrive at mealtimes precisely, and sometimes even brought his own ingredients, wild game that he would hunt along the way.
But overall, Liu Er was more interested in drinking than eating. He tried several times to get the little monkeys to pour him wine, as if he missed the time when he was surrounded by the monkey cubs as their king.
However, the monkeys already knew he wasn't their king, so they wouldn't respect him as much as they did Sun Wukong. Even when they poured him wine, it was with malicious intent, deliberately trying to provoke him into getting drunk and losing control. After all, everyone knew that Liu Er was a terrible drinker, and neither Su Su nor Nezha would deign to have him as a drinking buddy.
Sun Wukong was aware of this matter and had no objections. It was perfect that Jiang Huaisu and Nezha were carrying the burden for him, keeping that troublesome Six-Eared Macaque tied to Flower Fruit Mountain. That way, Six-Eared Macaque wouldn't have time to bother him anymore.
After that, the pilgrimage project continued to progress steadily, while Jiang Huaisu adopted a wait-and-see attitude and did not interfere much.
The only unexpected event was the ordeal with the Great King of Inspiration; Guanyin didn't appear in time, leaving Sun Wukong completely unaware of the goldfish spirit's background. Adhering to the principle of making the most of everything, he even threw the severely injured goldfish spirit to Nezha, who was specializing in subduing demons, out of kindness:
"See if you can make use of it; if not, just kill it."
Nezha didn't like the fish very much. He kept it in the pond for two days, but in the end, he decided it would be better to kill it. This demon ate a pair of children every year in Chenjia Village. It was so vicious, what kind of good creature could it be? Even if he were recruited as a demon soldier, there was no guarantee that it wouldn't end up like Bai Ya.
Just as they were about to make their move, Liu Er arrived at Flower Fruit Mountain for a drink. In terms of information gathering, his ability was unparalleled; with just a glance, he recognized the fish as goldfish from Guanyin's lotus pond.
Since the fish already had an owner, Nezha couldn't dispose of it on his own, but he also didn't want to just let it go so easily. So he decided to keep the goldfish with him for now and send heavenly soldiers to Mount Luojia to explain the situation to the Bodhisattva.
Unexpectedly, this goldfish was extremely rebellious, seemingly feeling that its chances of survival were slim, and decided to take a gamble.
After observing for the past few days, it concluded that taking Jiang Huaisu hostage was the best option. This girl was currently the person in charge of Huaguo Mountain, and her cultivation level wasn't high enough to completely suppress it. If it could control her, it might be able to gain more favorable conditions for itself.
So it seized its opportunity and leaped out when Jiang Huaisu passed by the fishpond...
Before he even got close to her, he had three cuts and six holes in his body.
Already injured, and now suffering massive blood loss in a short time, it sensed the imminent approach of death and knew it had made a mistake, but it was too late. It collapsed to the ground, weakly thrashing its tail a few times before finally stopping breathing and dying.
Nezha and Liu Er exchanged bewildered glances. They had just returned with two baskets of peaches, still carrying small knives for peeling and cutting fruit. As they passed by, they saw the goldfish spirit rushing towards Jiang Huaisu, seemingly intending to do something wicked. Without a second thought, the two simultaneously released their knives, aiming precisely—one stabbing Jiang Huaisu in the head, the other in the heart.
Although they were just ordinary blades, before launching their attack, the two of them simultaneously poured spiritual energy into the blades. The force of this strike was enough to pierce even a wall as thick as copper.
Moreover, there was Jiang Huaisu, who was a step behind and delivered the final blow to the goldfish.
She sheathed her soft sword, staring dumbfounded at the goldfish corpse on the ground. Having taken three fatal attacks in an instant, the Great King of Inspiration was now beyond dead, giving them no chance to recover.
Liu Er: "Who killed him?"
Nezha gave him a disdainful look: "Weren't you pretty fast just now? Don't pretend you didn't do anything."
Now that things have come to this, it's pointless to dwell on who the murderer is. The most urgent thing is to explain to Guanyin how the goldfish turned into a dead fish.
Jiang Huaisu lifted the Inspiration King by its tail; the smooth, soft texture gave her goosebumps. She quickly tossed the corpse to Liu Er. "Let's deal with it as soon as possible... What do you guys think?"
Six Ears: "What should we do?"
Nezha: "Find a place to bury it, or burn it."
"There are still a few grass carp in the pond," Jiang Huaisu said, forcing a smile. "How about we choose one to succeed the King of Inspiration?"
“I don’t think the Bodhisattva wouldn’t be able to tell…” Liu Er glanced at the remaining fish in the pond; their appearance was far inferior to that of Linggan Dawang.
"Sure, there's no other way anyway," Nezha said nonchalantly. "We'll deal with whatever comes our way. Besides, the Bodhisattva might not even want to take the fish back; he might not even be planning to care about it at all."
However, it turned out that the Bodhisattva still intended to take over this troublesome pet, because just two days later, Red Boy came to Flower Fruit Mountain with her message, wanting to take the Great King of Inspiration back to the South Sea.
Facing the pond full of grass carp, Red Boy remained silent for a long time before turning to look at Jiang Huaisu and Nezha.
"Do you think I'm a fool?" he asked. "Where's the goldfish?"
Jiang Huaisu: "..."
In the end, she decided to tell the whole truth. It would be too difficult to cover this up, and considering the various troubles that might follow, Jiang Huaisu decided it was best to just tell the truth. At least it wasn't the Bodhisattva herself who came, and it was a familiar face, so explaining the fish-killing process wouldn't put too much pressure on her.
“This is fate,” Nezha said matter-of-factly. “We just threw the knife out, how come it just happened to die? It shows that evil will be punished.”
Red Boy: "Lies."
“Anyway, the Great King of Inspiration is gone, and fish cannot be brought back to life. Please convey this to the Bodhisattva. If she still wants to keep fish, I can help her find a new one,” Nezha suggested.
Red Boy stared at the guilty-looking Jiang Huaisu for a while with a sullen face, then turned his gaze to Nezha. He took a deep breath and gritted his teeth, saying, "Never mind. I'll go buy it."
"Buy what?" Nezha asked, puzzled.
"On my way back to the South China Sea, I bought a fish... and put it back in the lotus pond of the Bodhisattva."
Nezha: "What if the Bodhisattva sees through me?"
“I didn’t buy the fish to impersonate it,” Red Boy said, frowning. “It’s just that the lotus pond is empty, so we need to replace it.”
Nezha thought about it and thought it might work. So he nodded: "Then you have to choose carefully. It's best if they have gained sentience and haven't eaten people."
Red Boy: "I know."
Jiang Huaisu was surprised that Hong Haier would take the initiative to cover for them. Touched, she wanted to pay him, but he refused with a look of disgust: "I'm not worth your pittance. Keep it for yourself."
"..." Actually, she already has a pretty good fortune. But then she thought that the other party was a rich second-generation, so she really didn't need to pay for it.
After Red Boy left, Jiang Huaisu anxiously awaited his reply. Although she didn't care much about the death of Linggan Dawang, feeling deep down that he deserved it, the fish was still owned by someone, and she wasn't sure what the Bodhisattva's attitude was.
A few days later, Red Boy sent a message, containing only a few words, essentially telling her not to worry, as the Bodhisattva had no intention of holding her accountable. His previous plan to bring back the Great King Linggan was also to allow him to return to the South Sea to face punishment. Since he had already been mistakenly killed, then so be it.
Not two days later, Red Boy sent another message, mentioning something unexpected: the fish he had just bought was actually the Dragon Girl of the East Sea, and had now been taken under the Bodhisattva's tutelage.
Previously, the Dragon Girl had sneaked out of the palace to attend the lantern festival, but was discovered by her father and banished from the Dragon Palace. She lost all her magical powers and transformed into a fish, where she was unexpectedly captured by fishermen. At this critical moment, Red Boy bought her.
Red Boy also mentioned that the Dragon Girl was grateful to her and Nezha, because if they hadn't killed the Great King Linggan, none of what happened later would have occurred.
Jiang Huaisu marveled at this wondrous fate and wrote back to inquire about more details about the Dragon Girl. Gradually, her contact with Red Boy became closer. However, not long after, this temporary messenger retired, and the Dragon Girl herself spoke directly with Jiang Huaisu.
The Dragon Girl said she would visit Flower Fruit Mountain when she had time, which made Jiang Huaisu feel nervous about meeting her online friend in person.
But Nezha could tell that Jiang Huaisu was happy about making new friends.
Unbeknownst to her, her connections with this world were growing stronger. Once Sun Wukong finishes his pilgrimage, he'll surely return to Flower Fruit Mountain, and then things will be even more lively.
"Will I be neglected in the future?" Nezha leaned on Jiang Huaisu's shoulder, asking this question with a sense of unease.
Although he sounded like he was just joking, Jiang Huaisu didn't brush it off with a laugh. Instead, she turned around and gave him a loud kiss on the cheek: "How could that be! Besides, don't you have more friends than me? It hasn't affected our love."
“That’s different.” Nezha’s expression became somewhat subtle, as if he were implying something, “Among your friends, some have thoughts about you that go beyond the bounds.”
"......who?"
Nezha said in a serious tone, "Pigsy, Howling Sky, Six-Eared Macaque, and Bull Saint Infant."
Is this a list of all the opposite sexes except for Sun Wukong? Isn't this a bit too advanced in terms of crisis awareness?
Jiang Huaisu refuted each point: "Pigsy is just talking big; you and I both know what kind of person he is. As for Xiaotian, does he have eyes only for his master? As for Liuer, that's even more impossible. Given his personality, if he had such thoughts, why would he hide them... Besides, he comes to Flower Fruit Mountain so often because he loves playing with the monkeys; you should be able to tell. Speaking of which, whether he and I can be considered friends is still debatable."
She gave Nezha's head a good rub: "Anyway, rein in your imagination and stop overthinking!"
Actually, the moment Jiang Huaisu kissed him on the cheek, Nezha's melancholy had already dissipated. He didn't expect her to explain so earnestly, which made him reflect on whether he had been being too unreasonable.
“…Okay.” Nezha let her ruffle his hair, trying to change the subject so she wouldn’t think he was being petty.
However, after holding back for a while, he couldn't help but ask, "But why didn't you mention Red Boy?"
Jiang Huaisu: "Uh."
He even personally denied ever having feelings for her.
After hesitating for a moment, she still told Nezha about the conversation she had with Red Boy on Mount Luojia that day. Just recalling the scene made her so embarrassed that she wanted to dig her toes into the ground. She should have been more subtle and probing, rather than giving him the opportunity to laugh at her. However, Red Boy never mentioned it again afterward, perhaps because he didn't take it to heart.
Nezha belatedly realized: "No wonder you left in such a hurry that day. But actually, I think you guessed right, he just won't admit it, how cunning."
It seems that Nezha is even more confident in this regard than she is. But this is something that can't be verified, so we'll leave it at that.
Jiang Huaisu: "Sigh. Why think so much? Anyway, he's already a disciple of Sudhana, cultivating under Guanyin's guidance, and must be free from desires."
"He should transcribe Buddhist scriptures more often to cultivate his mind. He was too inconsiderate before, both towards you and Tang Sanzang."
Having finally realized that his potential threats had no chance of poaching him, Nezha's expression visibly brightened, and he wanted to do something intimate with Jiang Huaisu again, so his hands and feet started to wander.
"Say that again... please?"
Jiang Huaisu asked blankly, "What did you say?"
"Say that you like me the most."
There was nothing she couldn't say. She cleared her throat and repeated what he had once said, "I love you the most, you're more important than anyone else."
Because she spoke too fast and without inflection, it sounded like she was reading a textbook. Feeling it wasn't sincere enough, she added, "Really, this time I'm not just trying to comfort you."
...So you've coaxed him before?
"Forget it, let's not dwell on such a small detail." Nezha pulled Jiang Huaisu into his arms, rested his chin on the top of her head, and gently nuzzled her. "You're not allowed to change your mind."
"Have some confidence in your own face, okay? With such outstanding examples before me, how could I possibly like someone else?"
"What if I become ugly?"
“…I still like you.” Jiang Huaisu gave a thumbs up. “After all, the Third Prince is not only handsome, but also top-notch in other aspects.”
"Trying to coax me?"
"No!"
